    Re: Assault nerfed.....why?

The idea of nerfing Medic sounds very stupid to me. Assault already has advantages in Infantry vs Infantry. GL is still powerful if you know how to use it ,it is a one shot kill from 1 to 10 metre if you have a good accuracy. For Assault Rifles (AK,M16,F2000,G36E) you need 4 shots to kill a healthy Assault and only 3 shots to kill a healthy Medic. What can stupid unbalanced advantages you want?

Although I play more Medic than Assault now. I still play Assault at times when the situation calls for it. Like when in the Palace of Warlord, I would pick up assault kit when enemies are enmassing or where there are lots of prone machine gunners in which my GL would be useful.

Large maps, people tend not to use Assault, but hey Warlord and Karkand , Assault is still very popular.

I am happy EA doesn't implement the idea of " A certain class would totally dominate a certain class in infantry fighting". For example SMG's are actually not that bad, it sprays very good in CQC.

LOL....yep....that proves my point right there.

      Assault is a specialty class....LOL

I love how everyone is blowing what is said WAY out of proportion, it is like I said "make medics throw spoons!"

I just cannot understand WHY people insist that a MEDIC should have good offensive combat ability?

The way the GL was used was gay. If you've ever used the G3, you know that gun OWNS in 1.2, so the assault class is still awesome. I still use it and love it. The problem is, though, most people who have ever played assault were only good with the noobtube, which is pretty much useless in the post-1.2 game.

I don't really see why you are complaining about assault-class? Where I play, I mostly seem to get killed by GL's. Maybe it's about servers we play in...

Yes, the way the GL was setup WASN'T good for the game...so they took it out...fine.

But they didn't do enough to supplement that nerf, if people only played assault for the noobtube then OBVIOUSLY that was the only reason to play assault (which is was).....

            a) I have used the G3

            b) it does own, when you have ammo in it......

            c) It isn't effective as an assault gun with 20 bullets

The theory is this.... Medic instead of getting Grenade Launcher and an Armor ,they get MedPacks and Shock Paddles. I think ithis s a completely fair substitution. Some people use Special Forces all the time and regard Assault or Medic as specialty units...Just like there are people who plays Assault all the time and regards other as specialty units..

                c) 1337 people like yourself who played 1 million hours can always throw out the Lern2play card against any argument, that dosen't change the fact that Dice totally missed the point or having squad based / role playing combat in this case.
                1. Your reality is not "BF2 reality."

                2. I am always looking at tab.

                3. 500+ hours is not that much

                4. "Most people do not play assualt." Must be the servers you play on.

                5. "G3 doesn't have enough ammo." Maybe learn to single shot and use your ammo wisely because 20 shots=3-4 kills at least since it takes 3 shots to take out an opponent and you will still have ammo left and even less if you get a headshot. Maybe it is your lack of headshots which is the problem? Throws out your "enough ammo for one kill theory.

I am saying that learn to play arguement because I was away from the game for 2 months like yourself because of pc problems, and when I got back, I had to almost relearn how to play all over again.

Medics are suppose to be in squads and they way you talk, they are suppose to be one man armies since they have more abilities then the rest, but that is not true.

It is EXTREMELY effective, last night on a karkand server I had like a 10:1 K-D ratio with it. It can actually beat a Spec Ops with a G36C in head-to head prone battles pretty easily. I do think, though, that with a 20 bullet magazine it needs more magazines, it runs out too fast. I just stay close to a support guy with it. Instead of un-nerfing the noobtube like you seem to be suggesting, the other assault guns should be improved to make up for it, especially the F2000.

You also have to think that the G3 is made for long ranges which you have complete dismissed. When you don't have the M16, the G3 is best for long ranges. Again, everything has a situation which it is useful for. You don't have to worry about running out of ammo when you are at long ranges as much. The G3 could use another magazine instead of more bullets in the magazine, but it is completely fine as it is now.

Maybe I am being a bit over enthusiastic as to the abilities of the medic. They are not a one man army by any sense, but they ARE a jack of all trades.

Time and time again (before and after the patch) when I look at the class list, either in my squad or in the game assault is one of the least played classes.

I have to ask myself "why?"

This is the point of this thread, although it has been diverted (partially by myself) in to a medic centered thread.

I just feel that before the patch assault was not overpowered..they were about perfect as far as balance goes. However, there primary advantage in killing was the GL, and while effective caused (to say the least) some issues in the community.

So, the devs nerfed it to quelch the whiners....fine.

But that STILL dosen't make up for the fact that assault has no "focus" now. You talk about picking the "right class" for the right situation...I TOTALLY AGREE. The issue is "assault" dosen't have enough utility in MOST situations to BE the best class.

It is almost ALWAYS better to have a medic pack or C4 with you, it gives you more flexability over all then does a slight increase in body armor.

                        This is the problem.

The G3 is a great gun, but in my opinion it STILL isn't enough to choose assault over medic for most unknown encounters....hence why medics dominate the classes played and points.

The only good use for C4 now is for the commander abilities which is was always meant for unless you have 10 secs in order to place it on a piece of armor, run away and actually live, get behind cover, and then press the button. C4 does nothing against infantry unless you place it before they come and you get lucky enough to get a few kills which your gun could of done better.

The grenade launcher has not been nerfed at all. That world doesn't make since at all since you can still kill people within 10 feet and actually use it the way it was meant to be which was long range for some, against vehicles, and up close if you run out of ammo. It is also being used by the noob tubers, but no where near as much.

And like I have said, I see a lot of assualt being played all the time. It must be the servers you are playing on or maybe you don't play on 64 player servers will you will see more.

Medics do not dominate points if you know what you are doing in any class. Again, comes down to skill. If you aren't good at killing, then pick medic, and if you are good at killing, then pick assualt.

Assualt has plenty of focus, it is just you are not looking at it from different points of view. You think because they can't heal themselves or don't have C4, they are useless. They are made for assualting and killing. Since most people are horrible at shooting, assualt has a bigger advantage against medics, spec ops, and support if you know what you are doing while assualting a flag.

It has plenty incentive to picking it, and if you cannot grasp that concept, then I don't know what then. Just because you don't see it being used, doesn't mean we all don't.

Good lord. This is absolutely the point Doom is trying to make "they are made for assaulting and killing". This is the crux of the problem!! They ARE but they CAN'T DO IT AS WELL AS THEY SHOULD RELATIVE TO OTHER CLASSES!!! You can do almost as well, as a skilled player, by going medic! And most other people know this too! It's why good medics will almost always finish on the top of the leaderboard. And you get to heal yourself and others to boot! And take the G3 - good gun, but give me a PKM and I'll do just as well at close range AND long distance! And have more ammo to boot! It's ridiculous. Now, I like support and they needed fixing. I just think that with all the fixes, that assault is a class that is no longer one that really has much to offer. Better to go as a squad of medics. Have good firepower, and can revive each other.

I have to say, even after all this reading and discussion, nobody has convinced me that there is a good reason to pick assault anymore. Sort of useless. I will agree the Spec Ops is a difficult class to use too - that's fairly weak as well. I think it could be made stronger too. But that's for another day.

The whole topic here is squad-based gameplay, and the thread-starter's point is that the medic and assault class are equal.. Actually, I change my mind, the medic is more effective at anti-infantry. Player skill does not belong here because basically, if two players of equal skill; one a medic, one assault, the medic is most likely to win. Not only that, but the medic could just patch up and move on to other infantry and this is many times the case online. I agree that the assault should be more effective at it's main role but I do NOT believe that the grenade launcher attachment is the answer to this. Running around and using that as a primary weapon is both ridiculous and not fun for whoever's on the receiving end of that t00b.

                              ..Anyways, moving on..

Actually.. Medic and spec ops (recall what 'spec ops' means.. 'special operations'. SPECIAL) are two classes that there should probably be the less of. Those and snipers. That may all come down to difference of opinion, but it only makes sense. Assault is supposed to be the workhorse and the 'default' soldier, so to speak. In other words.. There should be more of them. As long as they were given a fair (but effective) assault rifle that could mop up infantry, I wouldn't see it as 'whoring' at all. If you want to go up against infantry you should want to use the Assault class- end of story. As of now, medic and spec ops are being used for this because they're just so finely tuned all round. Sure, the assault class gets some nice little quirks, but nothing outweighs the effectiveness of having a really badass carbine + C4, or an assault-equivalent assault rifle and the ability to heal yourself and others as well as revive.

Medic is my favorite class and I'm dying to see them nerfed. That's kinda a hint that the class is a bit much..

A medic up against an assualt will not win unless the medic is really good or the assualtmen really sucks. It does come down to skill and teamwork(squads) because both are needed. I see mostly the guys who are not as expierenced picking the medic class since they can just heal themselves. That is fine for after a fight, but not during one.

The assualt class is the same as it was before the patch, but you just can't use the noob tube up close. I don't see why you guys cannot see that. And like I said before, C4 is useless pretty much now since it takes too much time to deploy. It is useless against infantry unless you are suicide bombing, or expect a whole bunch of people to come through a bottle neck in which case you could use a grenade launcher. The spec ops class is useless against a wave of infantry unless you are good at it. The weapon does mediocre damage, and you have no armor at all.

If I was against a whole squad coming at me, I would rather get the assualt since I can just grenade launcher the ones together, then use my primary weapon, then pull out my pistol need be. You guys fail to see the fact that a medic is not made for fighting. What happens if a medic is caught between two assualt, AT, or support gunners. He doesn't have a chance really. Now try an assualt classmen, and he can either use the grenade launcher if they are close, or just full auto on the two of them and have a better chance of surviving because he has armor.

The Assualt has the grenade launcher and smoke grenades which are good abilities which are just being disregarded because a patch made it so you can't jump and fire. Big deal. Same now as they were then.

The assualt could not be any more effective at their role. The problem is people don't know how to assualt and kill effectively, so they pick a class which they have a little advantage and are fortunate to kill the noobs, but that doesn't make that the better class.

O, and trust me. A squad of medics is not a good thing. They will be too busy reviving each other in order to actually fight the enemy coming at them. A squad made up of 2 medics, a support, assualt, and AT are much better than a bunch of medics.

I'll take a G3 anyday for long range over a PKM.

All I am trying to say is that all teh classes right now are pretty balanced except for maybe support which needs accuracy toned down just a little. Nothing needs to be nerfed at all. Medics help the team stay alive, but unless you are quick and skilled, you won't be able to heal and kill the enemy coming at you at the same time. You will just end up getting both of you killed and helping the enemy out.
