F-18 is in no way equal to J-10. Youre speaking out of your butt. Does this have to do with anything now?

Re: Air combat is so much fun!

Lol at all these "pro-pilots" patting themselves on the back here. :)

Anyway, my aviator stats are ok for 14 hours of play using only a keyboard and a mouse.

You should now be defining skill on being able to get behind your opponent before they get behind you. Kind of like it is in the real world. This not only requires skill on your behalf, but also needs some help from your fellow teammates as they spot the enemy jets for you. Imagine that, pilots having to use teamwork with others in BF2!!!

Like most of the naff "we were so pro and 1.2's taken it all away..." banter here, it's clear you're all egotistical lonewolfs who had previously enjoyed BF2 because you could play aviator and not have to rely on anybody else to get your 50-0 scores. Pre 1.2, being a pilot afforded you that luxury. Now, with 1.2 a little help from the rest of your team can go a long way to prevent some so called "noob" from sneaking up on your rear and plugging you out of the sky....

Dry your eyes, or move along and play a flight sim.

Re: Air combat is so much fun!

In fact Thirdeyepry, your stats prove just that. Lonewolf all the way, 70+ hours in a plane and hardly a good kill:death ratio for all that practice time. In fact, your score per min, accuracy and overall kill:death ratio are average at best.

No wonder you're complaining so vehemently. The 1.2 changes are weeding out the average pilots and you're clearly one of them and it hurts that your favourite way to play has become so much more difficult now.

Believe me, the real pro-pilots don't give a damn about the AA changes.

Ever thought of going in squad while flying and asking the commander and or squad members to help spot planes for you? It would appear not. To busy thinking of yourself.

Erm, pre-patch a guy with 14 hours, keyboard, mouse could in no way down a 100 hour player.
Conclusion- dogfights were n00bified for inexperienced players like you to have a fair shot in the skies. Why do you think a "fire and forget" weapons are so effective in the air now?
So, dont slander people whom you couldnt down in no way pre-patch. I am NOT slandering people I couldnt kill on the ground. I am NOT slandering tank drivers who killed me more easily than I killed them even though I had the first shot. I am not slandering skills, you are.
Dogfight is in no way repetition. Evasive maneuvers pre-patch were repetitive because hard turn was the only 100% foolproof way to get that missile off. To gain a missile hit in turns you had to exhaust your opponent first. WHich required ****load of skills, attention, pre-work, research.

Oh, I'm speaking outa' my butt eh!? Let's see, I've witnessed pilots in the F-18 take J-10s, and I have seen it go the other way.

In comparison to the F-35B and the MiG. Same thing. I have been involved in matches against J-10's while piloting F-18's, and if I don't spend my time trying to bomb the holyness out of ground units. I can usually down a J-10 pretty quickly. It's "was" a pretty easy prey to cannon fire.

...I think your "l33t" attitude clouds your perception and vision a lot. Hell, by your logic, the G3 as in no way equal to the M16 pre-patch. Yet, I did well enough with it and so did others.

...so, once again. What does your posted statistics have to do with people using a weapon differently and to its strengths?

So along those lines should a tank player who's played 100+ hours in armour be untouchable to a player who's only played 14 hours in a tank? lol. No.

It's not as linear as that I'm afraid. Good pilots die, good tank driver die, etc, etc. If it was, no one would play BF2, least of all newbies.

I'll reiterate for you - use your commander and or squad members to help spot enemy jets. If you know where they are, then as a pro-pilot you shouldn't have any bother dealing with other less skilled pilots.

With the new patch everyone just abandons air support all the time on the servers I play.

Then they wonder why they're getting pounded by two choppers or bombers and such.

F-18 is equal to MiG, almost 2 exact planes. F-18 takes out J-10 because of the same reasons a MiG takes down the F-35B. However, if a pilot would actually apply the strenghst and weaknesses of his plane and adjust them to his flight pattern, J-10 becomes superior to F-18. Even if the F-18 pilot applies his planes strengths and weaknesses to his flight syle. That is my point.

In comparison to the F-35B and the MiG. Same thing. I too prefer air targets rather than ground targets. And again, check above.

...I think your "l33t" attitude clouds your perception and vision a lot. Hell, by your logic, the G3 as in no way equal to the M16 pre-patch. Yet, I did well enough with it and so did others.
No, youre again talking out of your ass. The dogfighting relies mostly on maneuvering the planes and outmaneuvering each other, NOT the strenght of their weaponry. Please, stay in the limits of discussion and dont bring in some conclusions from nowhere.
G3 is great against M16 and vice versa because the shooter relies on his shooting skills and experience. Theres not much "outmanevuering" and "maneuvering" on the ground. Like in CS, when 2 enemies face, they crouch, and the better (luckier?) guy with better aim wins. However, in dogfight, the fight relies on the movement, rather than the aim of your cannon.

...so, once again. What does your posted statistics have to do with people using a weapon differently and to its strengths?
Simple really. Added awareness over your aircraft and using its characteristics to your benefit offers you more opportunities to use your weapons against your enemy. Most pilots fail to realize that they fly every plane as if it was equal to each other. Most infantry in BF2 realize that their weapons diffr from each other and apply their knowledge to overcome the disadvantage or use the advantage.

Im not an elitist. I never say Im the best, Ive been beaten and owned too much to be that ignorant. What I am saying is purely a conclusion fof my observations and research.

Not untouchable, but he should have the upper hand in the fight and they usually come out alive if they face an opponent with totally lower skill level. I have been hit and downed by an inexperienced pilot, just as I have killed tank drivers who are far better than I am. But those are exceptions. Not rare exceptions, may I add.

It's not as linear as that I'm afraid. Good pilots die, good tank driver die, etc, etc. If it was, no one would play BF2, least of all newbies.
Agreed, and this is the way it should be. But good pilots die because they make a mistake, same everywhere. A newbie has a chance against a good player. I am just saying he is not supposed to have the equal chance. Thats all.

I'll reiterate for you - use your commander and or squad members to help spot enemy jets. If you know where they are, then as a pro-pilot you shouldn't have any bother dealing with other less skilled pilots.
Thats a great advice, unfortnately people spotting a plane wasnt much of a blessing for me. They were too busy fighting. Everyone says "use your team", but what if the team wont like to be used? They wont bother. Thats why chopper pilots ask their gunners to spot things out for them, because their team isnt doig it enough.

I need a better joystick because I cant to precision gunning. There is a difference in joysticks even in such a game as BF2.

Dogfights are just as difficult, it's just a matter of locking onto your enemy for the kill rather than riding their behind constantly for cannon shots. I still use the cannons though, somtimes to soften jets up because two missiles "WILL NOT" drop a Healthy plane.

So, you gotta' use the cannons to soften them up. Then, get behind them, and let one go; wait for flares, then follow up with the kill shot. Then entire time though, you have to stick with them.

If you're getting killed by missle spam, you're seriously doing somthing wrong. I mean, if they spam them all in one pass and you're moving while you deploy your flares, you have the upper hand because they now have to restock before they can engage you... use this to your advantage.

Also, the F-18 was the J-10's equal pre-patch. Two skills pilots could spend the entire round in those respect planes trying to shoot one another down. I don't know why this is the case, it just is.

I'm no flying expert (my stats will prove this), but buying a joystick makes flying a LOT more fun in BF2. Plus if you're interested you've got the equipment to try a real flight or combat simulator.

Yes agreed. However, as with most things it depends who gets the heads up first on the opponent's location . The biggest difference in tank vs tank fights is knowing where the enemy tank is BEFORE you actually start firing at each other. That advantage can mean the difference between winning or losing and that's where a good team/squad or commander can be decisive - someone spotting the tank gives you the intelligence which you can then use to your advantage. I cannot stress enough the importance of spotting enemy units in BF2.

With jets there's no difference - intel gives you the edge. From there, good pilots are then more likely to get the kill quickly, average pilots more slowly and poor pilots might never get the kill no matter how much advanced warning they're given.

Instead of moaning about the patch, jet pilots should be encouraging their team to help them out more. It's a team game and jet pilots should be included in all this. After all, we're all fighting for the common goal of reducing the enemy's tickets to zero. 1.2 makes this all the more important for pilots, as without intel an average pilot can get the advantage (even if it is by accident).

He doesn't. Good pilots still rule the waves in 1.2. Most of the jet experts are still doing 50-1 in servers. However, at least with 1.2 they are sometimes susceptible. In real war no one can guarantee anything based on skill alone. Mistakes will more likely be punished and without enemy jets being spotted by teammates or commanders there's always a slim chance that a less skilled pilot will get that lucky lock-on. Luck is always a factor I'm afraid - it's good for the game and keeps things fresh.

Well this is something that's now of more importance in 1.2. Like good tank players or squad leaders, good pilots should be using VOIP to encourage their teammates to spot jets, choppers and whatever else.
