Air combat is so much fun!

Let me tell you first that I have just over 2h of being a pilot. Therefore, I am far from being an authority in flying.
Right after the patch, hearing so much about it, I gave flying a try.
It turns out to be sooo fun! Chasing planes around, dodging missiles, trying not to encounter a tree or a crane , this is a lot of fun.
Who cares about points, kills and flags!
All it counts is to stay in the air and bring down anything red that flies.
I have 'a crash' on jets.
Mostly I love the way missile work now, except when it hits a friendly or spin in the air like 'insane in the membrane' :laugh: . Other then that, it is so easy to use.
So often, we are seeing those 'wonder' bombs on TV, now every plane has them (laser guided, GPS guided, who knows what guided…). So why are we still using these WW2 like bombs?
In modern air combat, weapons are so advanced, pilots have only to take decisions and high tech does the rest. I would love to see this 'fire and forget' bombs on our battlefield.
On the other hand, this could badly unbalance the game, but wouldn't this be a pilot's dream come true?

Well, there are the tv bombs in the bomber planes!

I quite like learning the skill of dropping bombs, especially from the fighters

there is no G-lock in the game what makes it so unrealistic and every noob can make superfast manuvers for hours without 'losing conciousness'

I hear ya, Batausu. I was playing Wake Island the other day and I went 16-1 in a jet. The American pilots were pretty crappy but oh well. It made flying fun that day Most of the time they didn't try to dodge or nothing, just fly straight, shoot some flares and keep flying straight for some easy kills.
I'll gladly snap up the unused jets now that people are so whiney about them.

Should have been a pilot before the patch and tried dogfighting, it took some skill there since you had to use the cannons. Now with the new AA its easy to shoot down enemy jets. I'm not complaining, I rarely fly jets since everyone wants to get in one so, I avoid them so I don't get TK'd lol...but before the patch I used to go up against a lot of enemies, even the mighty j-10 and be able to take them down with my guns. I didn't get those super scores like some do...I just supported my team...just like I do when I am in a tank. If you get a good squad going, and I see they are actually working, dont be surprised if you see a tank sticking with your squad instead of going off alone...what better protection for the squad ? :p

I spent many countless hours learning how to out manuever good pilots so that I didnt get knocked out the air by there cannons or I wasnt close enough and level enough to be rocket fodder.
I learned the art of creeping up on them and buzzing them so they drop flares, then adjusting speed in truns so not to over shoot them or lose them.
I learned to notice the prime moments to switch between bombing mode to Missles and deliver the death blow...

Now I throw all that knowledge ou the widow, ((same thing I did with the skills I learned to use the PKM effectively))
Those skills dont matter any more...

All i have to do is notice a pilot get behind him and spam all my missles..
All the flares in the world wont stop 6 incoming missles...yeah maybe 3 or 4, but the last 3 or 4 will hit 90% of the time.

Anyone can fly, and anyone can partake in CQC now.
So 70+ hours in a plane has been reduced to guys on my 6 half a map away havign the ability to shoot me down. In the same tho, I now can shoot down guys who have spent 100+ hours flying.

Everyone and there mother can fly now as long as they have a drop of common sense and a pinch of skill.

Heres the new tip book on flying..ready..ill say it once..

Fly sneaky, be the first to get behind ya opponent, release all rockets once your at least a half mile away. If you become the guy on the end of a missle attack, ...bail out to preserver K/D ratio.
Bombing tips..well that takes time in each air craft to find the sweet spot by calculating speed and altitude. If your in the bomber tho and ya wanna bomb..well a monkey could do it. Only bombers with skills use the fighter.

Na, dogfights are better now. The J-10 is no longer invincible in the hands of a good pilot.

so your basically saying is that a person in a J-10 that is better then you deserves to be put on your level.
Ive shot down many J-10's and have been whipped by quite a few, and yes the J-10 is better and gives the other pilot a boost to his skills, but if that pilot is worse then you it shouldnt be a problem, if he is better then you then the J-10 will just make your job harder or impossible...
But with new AA I dont think this will matter, it will even the playign field, but since Air to Air missles were affected to, this theory is crap.
Im sorry I just cant see a logical explanation for the nerf on planes by suggesting it makes J-10 pilots equal with you.
And if you play under your user name on this forum..then 14 hours in a plane and your K/D stats hardly make you a reliable source to say who is and who isnt a good pilot in the J-10.

I usually (in SP) load my AI squad either into an LAV-25, a RIB-LC or a UH-60


usually the LAV-25 or the BH, both are kick arse (the LAV-25 is amphibious, stands a very good chance against tanks, adn the Firing ports along with the 20MM autocannon give it Anti-Infantry firepower, while the Blackhawk in Vanilla just flat out Rapes)

I prefer the dogfighting as it is now, it's a game of "Lock" not aiming.

Dogfights are just as difficult, it's just a matter of locking onto your enemy for the kill rather than riding their behind constantly for cannon shots. I still use the cannons though, somtimes to soften jets up because two missiles "WILL NOT" drop a Healthy plane.

So, you gotta' use the cannons to soften them up. Then, get behind them, and let one go; wait for flares, then follow up with the kill shot. Then entire time though, you have to stick with them.

If you're getting killed by missle spam, you're seriously doing somthing wrong. I mean, if they spam them all in one pass and you're moving while you deploy your flares, you have the upper hand because they now have to restock before they can engage you... use this to your advantage.

Also, the F-18 was the J-10's equal pre-patch. Two skills pilots could spend the entire round in those respect planes trying to shoot one another down. I don't know why this is the case, it just is.

****ing perfect post, hands down. ****ing perfect. Seriously. Before, in order to beat a plane that "SEEMED" better some of us did extensive skill training, adjusted their tactical approach and did extensive reseach on their jets to overcome the better ones. Now? Throw that **** out of the window. If a F-15 can down a J-10 with relative ease, what research do you need?
