While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
Upon first lock, check your six. Make sure missiles are actually headed your way before deploying flares. Assuming that missiles are actually on your tail, deploy your flares with a sharp bank making the spread of the flares even greater. Once deployed, practice standard evasion tactics if an enemy jet is on your tail. Do NOT allow them to get lock on you again. If they acquire a solid lock before your flares have reloaded, you, as well as your plane, are toast if you do not eject.
Sure, you'll have to make the long hike back to the airfield to grab a jet again, but it keeps you from losing your invaluable Kill-to-Death ratio.
I've tried all methods, including all throttle settings, rudder, and banking in all directions, and I can guarantee with 100% certainity they are undodgable. In fact when I'm flying now and I get missile lock I don't even bother turning. The best thing you can do is turn away from the source that fired the missile at you, and use afterburners to get as much distance as possible, deploy your flares and hope for the best.
We know we stand correct in this!!
There is no evasion after flares ,sure weve all seen missles miss, but in the end its just bugged dumluck there is no tactic after flares released,I dont think there will be a tactic discovered either...Which means there is no more skilled dogfights in BF its all dumluck now.
The best way is still to use other enemy planes to your advantage (assuming theres 2 in the air) or helicopters of course. head straight at the other enemy plane and the missiles still re-aquire and shoot down there team-mates
The most important thing now is to use fighters for what they were designed for: SHOOTING DOWN OTHER PLANES! You will find its hard for enemys to sneek up on your ass when your not distracted tring to get uber scores by bombing like every pilot done pre-patch
Dont forget to flick to rear-view often to make sure no ones trying to get on your tail and do the evading BEFORE they lock-on not after.
THis is what i and everybody else did in the era of battlefield vietnam.
Switching to gunner seat if the it's empty. I'm not sure if it will work here.
but even if it works, the jet's auto cannon will still finish you off.
BTW- this is the time when you need the jet characteristics even more and you need to plan your maneuvers accoordingly to the info. For example- F35Bs superior speed. MiG superiority by being slower and all that.
Ok, lets start with the basics. Figures.
Number will be given without and with afterburner effect.
F35B
Roll: 3/2 s
Loop: 7/6 s
Speed: 1020/1410 KPH
Afterburner duration: 10 seconds
MiG-27
Roll:4/3
Loop: 7/6
Speed:910/1060
AB duration: 13 seconds
J-10
Roll: 3/3
Loop: 6/5
Speed: 1100/1320
AB duration: 13 (Can be wrong, didnt write that down, more than JFS though)
Lets analyze.
MiG vs F35B
MiG is able to compete against 2 solo working planes. Usually does.
Why? After receiving a tough beating and starting to think about, the answer is simple: low speed in dogfights. Due to low speed and F35B afterburners being equipped, MiG pilot doesnt have to anticipate F35 movements. He can just observe them from the distance and he can easily re-maneuver every evasion maneuver F takes. Since most (if not all) pilots use every plane the same way, the evasion maneuvers they perform ignore the advantages they are handed and trust their own experience only. This will limit a pilot to his skills, without taking advantage of his plane and disadvantages of the OpFor plane. For example. I already mentioned MiG chasing JFS with relative ease. But have you wondered why does the JFS escape you in high speeds so quickly that you cant match up? They usually go way up and afterburner themselves way back down to a speed of ~1500 against MiGs ~1100. The mistake they do then, is they do a sharp turn and the MiG cuts the corner to be behind them once again.
Then, most people dont realize that aftreburner not onlöy increases your sped and the time it takes to make a full loop, but it also reduces your full roll time. Most people dont realize that a turn is created via 2 maneuvers, roll the plane and pull back the stick (horizontal loop, if we use this simple expression). So when a fighter can perform the first motion faster than the second, he is positioned way faster than the other. And by doing quick turns in a succession to each other, the planes with the slower roll time will not catch up and the defender often leaves the attackers field of vision. Perfect moment to break loose or change roles.
Why is it so hard to chase a MiG with the JFS? Speed difference. Even if youre far back, when MiG makes a turn, its so slow that youll almost hit it and in a certain moment of a turn, youll definitely loose it from your field of view, which is not the case with the MiG because its slower than the JFS.
By applying the knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages of your plane and the OpFor´s you can successfully decide which maneuver is effective and which is extremely inaffective.
And J-10 is vastly superior to JFS because the J-10 is better than JFS in almost every detail, except for AB roll speed and AB max speed. But due to lower non-AB speed the JFS has the J-10 can loose the JFS from its field of vision in tight turns just like the JFS looses the MiG.

Bombers
Much the same applies to the bombers in dogfights as with the fighters. So I wont repeat myself. But to cut your work shorter, Im going to give you some details. Some analyzation and mental marks and the improvement of your attitude in that plane will bring you fascinating results. That and a lot of work to accustomize yourself with the changes. Biggest flaw- fly every plane "as if" it was equal to the other.
Su-34 (MEC)
Roll: 5/3.5
Loop- 8/7
Speed: 890/1040
AB: 17 s
F-15 (USMC)
Roll: 4/3.5
Loop: 9/8
Speed: 990/1150
AB: 18
Lost the Chinese bombers figures but that sucka can easily take the roles of a dogfighter with an afterburner duration of 10 seconds, its control/speed numbers are comparable to JFS.
I'll quote this for those that think AA is suppose to kill its target at the rate it does now. I like the challenge from the improved S2A but the A2A missile dynamics themselves are rotfl. If a missile misses... its should miss, not stop midair and wait for you to pass it and then zoom back to full speed, and not zig zag around like a reflected laser beam.
The SA-18 GROUSE (Igla 9K38) is an improved variant in the the SA-7 & SA-14 series of manportable SAMs. As with the earlier SA-14, the SA-18 uses of a similar thermal battery/gas bottle, and the SA-18 has the same 2 kilogram high-explosive warhead fitted with a contact and grazing fuse. But the missile of entirely new design with substantially improved range and speed,. The new seeker and aerodynamic improvements extend its effective range, and its higher speed enables it to be used against faster targets. The SA-18 has a maximum range of 5200 meters and a maximum altitude of 3500 meters. The 9M39 missile SA-18 employs an IR guidance system using proportional convergence logic. The new seeker offers better protection against electro-optical jammers; the probability of kill against an unprotected fighter is estimated at 30-48%, and the use of IRCM jammers only degrades this to 24-30%.
I'm glad they finally have the missiles fixed but they still need to tweak the code a bit. Its almost there! This harkens back to the inital release of the shoulder mounted stingers in Desert Combat, remember how freaking deadly those where at first? Just point anywhere in front or behind a jet and it was a free insta-kill ... didnt even have to lock anything. They tweaked soon after so that you had to aim somewhat at the plane and making it a 2 hit kill weapon instead of 1s1k.
Well i posted before saying that barrel roll works. in some other thread. and i guess im wrong. I guess the missle simply left me and went to an enemy heli or something. I tested the barrel roll and they hit 100% of the time.
So basically the only thing u can do is get the missle to blow up on something else instead of u.
Like fly through some trees and then turn such that the missle hits the tree. or fly close to the enemy helis and hope the missle veers off.
Which i have seen this. I was in a f35b, shot 2 missles at the mec bomber. @ oman. and he flew near one of my allies helis. the missles did a 90 degree turn and blasted the helicopter out of the sky. 2 teamkills for me.
and someone mentioned no more attack helis base raping. this sure isnt true. I got 40+ points with a base rape in this method before getting killed. @ oman. What u do is stay low and far and aim for the opposite end of the carrier. where there is basically nothing going on. stay low and come down to the other side. and make ur way to the back. then move up and destroy the AA. then let ur gunner blow away the people. while doing ur normal circling pattern.
but whats even wierder. I was then switched and i was in AA. the mig did a chain gun run. got a couple kills. i couldnt even lock on. until he was pulling away. but when i locked on he dropped flares. and at this point hes right at the visual limit. so i just shoot all 8 missles and i apparently knock him out of the sky. which is just insane. the AA locks on by itself!

I said that.. and of course it's not going to disappear 100%, but it sure as hell will be reduced.

Any one find a good EL AL server yet?!
Thank you for those numbers Ringmaster now I can shut Huzlotsofunderscoressomethingsomething up. I remember seeing the 25% somewhere but didn't have a source so I couldn't really say anything. Now I can. Thank you.
