ok i think this thread is for all the radeon users who have the same problem- its not for all the guys with rockin cards- we know the 9200 series sucks balls but we're for the most part stuck with them- so until the patch came out my 9250 was the ****, i would get about 60 fps all on low settings but this ****ing patch put all of us in a nutshell. So sorry guys but this isnt the show off the better card thread- we all know which cards are kick ass in the game and we know ours arent even close to yours, but plz let us try and figure it out - dont put us down more than we already our- i dont know about the rest of you guys with the "9200" series problem but im having serious withdrawls.Any solutions would be greatly appreciated - NOT showoffs with rocking rigs'

AMD XP Mobile 2600+ at 2.3GHz
Catalyst 6.1 driver.

Played great before the 1.2 patch. Now plays great only at 800x600. No other resolution will stick and AA is permanently off.

At least I feel lucky not to be crashing to desktop, etc. But there are issues all around. Boy I'm plunking down my money for that Euro pack REAL fast.

You have one of the worst graphics cards available & it is NOT a GAMING CARD! Well i for one am happy that it will keep all of the counter****e players out of BF2 as it seems most of them use 9200 http://totalbf2.com/forums/member.php?u=5721series cards, excellent!

What’s so bad about CS players? I find the average BF player to be ten times the noob the average CS player is. Hell, I tried picking up CS, and I’m lucky to have a KDR of 1 in a server with half-decent players (global KDR of 1.80 in BF2 and rising).

Although he sounds like a 12year old trying to attract flamers....he's right.
The Radeon 9200 series is obsolete. They have no reason to work to support it as most people have upgraded by now. I would just spend a few extra bucks and buy at least a 6600....although those are also quickly becoming obsolete.

I was thinking of upgrading to the 6600GT. Are there any better/newer cards that don’t cost much more? Cause I hear that the GeForce 6600 is pretty much the best you can get for mid-$100 range.

I have a ATI Radeon x800 Pro with 256 MB memory and have random crashes to the desktop after installing the 1.2 patch. I have tried the whole 9 yards to fix it (new drivers, tweaks, praying, etc.)

My specifications are a P4 2.8 processor with 2 GB Dual Channel Ram running on a MSI PT880 mother board. I also have a Audigy 2 LS Gamer sound card that gives me fits with this game.

Dude , this isnt a thread for telling us what to buy. we know nvidia works but we are trying to solve the problems with the radeon cards, so **** off jerk!

You guys would probably just be better off waiting for the 1.21 patch to come out.... If that doesn't fix the problems then try it...

yes i know, and i have no problem if people voice that opinion the way you put it i respect but other people need to learn people skills:p . i started a little fund to throw spare money into to buy a new card if it dosnt get fixed, even if it does i still want a new card. iam thinking this: eVGA GeForce 7800 GS CO Superclocked / 256MB GDDR3

yea i have a 9250 and the game wont even start, as soon as i get past the opening videos into the account menu it just goes bonkers. anyone even get to play with this card?

When I installed the 1.2 incremental patch from bittorrent sites over my existing ok installation, it ran horribly on my x800xt on Catalyst 6.1 drivers. Everytime a enemy appeared on screen, it would drop to 2fps

Then I got wind that that patch, while working may be fake, uninstalled BF2, reinstalled it and downloaded and installed the genuine patch.

After that, no problems at all. Game went back to being very smooth and playable. (still Catalyst 6.1 drivers)

Nice 7 posts and cant get a real reason to "get Nvidia". just as many people have issues w/ high-end cards of nvidia.

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 1 gig pc3200 DDR SDRAM ATI RADEON X800XL pci express everything on highest. No problems before 1.2 since I get major lag when either I create, or join a squad or become commander. Again I lag as soon as I create, or join a squad or become a commander. Since 1.blew I mean 2.

Im using an X850 plat and since the 1.12 patch I cant run in higher than 800x600 res otherwise it freezes...

Its annoying as hell

I have the x850xt AGP, works just fine at 1280x1024. When the patch came out, I tried the incremental, but it didn't work so well. So I uninstalled BF2 and SF and then re-installed BF2 only then the full 1.2 patch. I haven't had any problems since. I did wipe out my cache files though. Not sure if that made a difference. I was also having difficultly before the patch with textures in SF, but fixed that problem also.

I haven't re-installed SF though. I hardly played it anyway.
