Radeon BF2 problem?

Just looking and answering some posts, it seem like only radeon graphics cards are experienceing major problems. I seem to remember this happening with one of the first BF2 patches.

If you do have a working version of BF2 1.2 and have a radeon card please post your driver version so others may see what is working for different readon cards.

The last time this happened ATI had to release a new driver promptly after the problem was descovered.

I have a 9200, and it lags like mad, static meshes dont load, same problem as everyone else . . .

also notice, some nvidia cards are messed up too. it just depends, but more ATi cards are doing worse, only the lower cards though, IE 9000, 9200, 9250.

i have a 9600,256mg useing the old 5.8 drivers as any others gives me all sorts of probs,still get crapy night vision tho.

but the lower ATI cards are crap. The 9200 and 9250 are lameass cards. Save up and buy a X800 at least, or maybe a 9800 Pro.

I have an aged 9700 Pro running the CAT 5.13 Drivers (The last ones released without the CCC). Upon installing the full patch, the game would crash to desktop after verifying content.

A fresh install of BF2, BFSF and the 1.2 patch got everything working again. And I must say that gameplay is smoother and the image quality is better since I reinstalled. I doubt the increased perormance if from the patch but what the heck - I'll take what I can get.

9800 pro 128mb was fine before on all medium except 2 or 3 i think, being dynamic lighting etc (the main prob 1s), and now i get a higher ping!? and just lags so much i cant hardly move.

I duno wots wrong i always go on the same server and used to get ping 20-50 and had no probs whatsoever, now its up around 150 and like i said my fps are like 5 or something, ive given up with this game.

Your pings are server & ip provider related, BF2 has NO affect on your pings patched or unpatched. However the fps are directly related to your ping so if pings are high fps's will be affected, this is not the games fault.

Use all seeing eye (google is your friend) to find low ping servers as the ingame one is still unreliable, copy the ip address & enter it manually ingame.
Never enter a server that pings more than 50 & you should be fine.

Yeah i thought that, but just seemed weird that my usual server of no probs suddenly gave me probs after the patch, it has been put from 20man to 28man server tho u reckon that could be why? ill try it again later on i cant b assed loading it up just to get a slideshow at the min, thanks for the tips on finding a server anyway

Your'e welcome, also remember depending on your system specs, some maps play better than others, also the more people in a server will definately affect your performance if you run a low to midrange rig.
