well i just played a few rounds for the first time...and...well dispite what everyone says...its not that bad. I did notice how stupidly accurate support guns and sniper rifles were, and since I don't fly much that doesn't really represent a problem...but...I still am saddened that aircraft will be pretty much grounded. Regardless of what people say, they were fun to fly, and they were hard to shoot down because they were meant to be powerful. Oh well...only 7000 some odd points before I join the officers :p

Very interesting to note that dispite how much hate there seems to be in the forums, people are consitantly rating the patch rather highly.

This suggests that what we're seeing is a vocal minority shouting at the top of their lungs while the true majority are just having too much fun to bother posting.

Something else that this pole tells me is that it's responce base includes a high number of immature resondents.

I would assume that the lowest possible rating would be reserver for "It broke the game and made is entirely unplayable". As in, the game will not load, imposes huge preformance issues, or blows up your computer. You can not rationally say this patch is worthy of a 1 purely because I can log in and there's not scorch marks on my desk.

Likewise, 10 is unreasonable. This would imply that it's *perfect* when we know dang well there's things not adressed. The picking up of mines wasn't included and without that the new no friendly fire mines make for a slightly busted mechanic. Also, there's still problems with the browser and that bug video that's been posted is... well, a bug!

I suggest that you completely ignore bother the top and botom scores if you want a good idea how people (thinking people) really feel about the patch.

What is the game doing? Does it try to start, but then goto a black screen and then CTD?

If so, goto your My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\ and open up the folders under the 'profiles' folder and then open the 'video.con' file with notepad or other text editor and edit this line -- VideoSettings.setResolution 1024x768@85Hz. so that the 'HZ' is equal to your desktop... I have to set mine to 85hz for the game to start..

That doesn't make any sense. The game writes to that file "after" it starts. You can completly delete the profiles and the game will still start. It just writes a new file.


BTW. Did you do the BF21.exe change. (another bright idea that didn't work) and really screwed up a lot of people.

If you did do the bf21.exe change, just change it back and reinstall the patch

If you're talking about the engineer then I don't understand as the engineer can pick up mines just as he has always been able to. It's Spec-Ops that can't pick up C4's that hasn't been added.

You can disarm AV mines, you can't pick them up.

By "mine" I ment the three different things you can drop on the ground and make people go boom with. Claymores are a little problematic ATM.

It's a niggle tho.

with a 69% voting 6 or better for the patch vs. 31% voting 5 or less, i think they didnt do as bad a job as some might have us think. of course, someone could start arguing the aspects of the pole and the statistics of the "kinds" of players that come into these forums, but this poll really has served its purpose. imo, and eveyone's got an opinion, thats for sure.
