Bf2 patch 1.2: a great improvement through realism

    Before patch 1.2:

Jets flew 10 feet above ground as if they were still in WWII, completely ignored AA, sophisicated BVR jets like F35 are being used like WWII fighters. No missiles were used, only cannon.

    After patch 1.2:

Jets have to fly carefully, fly high to avoid AA fire (realism+), they tend to use missiles and missiles are extremely lethal now (realism+), cannons are now used a lot less (hence BF2 is no longer a WWII shooter, realism+). Spec ops, instead of the invulerable flying tanks, are required to take out anti-air (realism+)

    Before patch 1.2

Bf2 was basically played like UT, infantry wise. People hopped, naded, and engaged in short range combat with comically inaccurate weapons

    After patch 12.

Now the weapon lethality is a lot more realistic, people no longer engage in short range and alley fight in Karkand, instead, long range stand off begins to occur.

    Final word:

I think BF2 deserves a reclassification now. It has gone from UT arcadeism to some acceptable realism. I believe this is a great step toward making BF2 the next generation game for world class tournments.

Meh. I did just write a lot more than this. I click "post reply", "server is too busy", so I click the back button and "server is too busy"... -_-

    Before patch 1.2:

I could actually go prone and stand up without fear of some invisible force holding me down.

    After patch 1.2:

I go prone, oh noes, now I have to wait 5 seconds just to stand up again! Well, thats handy!

    Before Patch 1.2:

My shock paddles could be used to REVIVE DEAD TEAMATES would you believe it?

    After Patch 1.2:

Shock pads are completely glitched. I take them out, supposedely they have been "recharging whilst not equipped...", battery is NIL!!!

Seriously, these things concern me, as a medic, but they have been changed COMPLETELY unessecarily. I could cope with GL. I could cope with choppers. I could cope with jets. I could cope with tank whores. BECAUSE THEY DON'T ACTUALLY CONCERN ME, AND THE WAY I PLAY MY GAME. ITS EASY TO DODGE A JET. ITS EASY TO RUN AWAY FROM A CHOPPER. ITS EASY TO NOT DIE FROM THE INITIAL HIT FROM A GL, AND PROCEED TO SHOOT YOUR ATTACKER WHILE HE IS SWITCHING WEAPON.
But its now, that this patch has F*U*C*K*E*D up my class completely, so that I can barely play it, it ****es me off.

    K, well theres my rant.

Summary of this patch: It has made the silly noob spec ops players happy, and made some peoples games worthless.

BB all Im going to play some source.

havok, it probably takes about 5 seconds for a fully equipped solider to stand up.

Exactly, you try get up and down from prone with all that equiptment on you as fast as it was in 1.12...

Even a single jump is quite hard w/all that equiptment, you probably cant even go prone and get up fast and repeatedly do it for some time with normal clothes on >_>

the improved AA has improved to much, it takes out balance in some maps now, most of the time you can't even lift off because some AA site from 2 miles away shoots you down on spawn place .

also the noob tube isn't nerfed, the naded doesn't bounce at all, and it still is used in very close situations , it only has a bit smaller splash damage.

you can't jump true windows anymore in SF, realy great, a freaking 10 feet window on the floor and the soldier can't get in it (talk about realism here) , maybe they better gave all infantry weelchairs.

BUT, some good stuff, the snipers are actualy sniperrifles now, also the M95 has improved big time, the new sniper rifle is deadly acurate
P90 is nive but not great, I will stick to the DAO, it lacks fire rate and some acuracy

L85 seems to be better in full auto

And the support weapons own, the PKM can now even shoot guys on long distance

And don't know if this is good or bad, but rather bad, have you guys trow a nade yet, realy with the trow-sprint-jump I could trow a nade today from the first flag in karkand almost to the next one, I think they made american footballplayers from the infantry guys, they trow a nade for miles

Great work dice. I love this game now, now pilots won't be able to go 90-0 in a round being invinceable. All these arcade whiners who have come from QUAKE or UT have no idea what a realistic sim is like.

REAL WORLD: Bombers use sophisticated guidance system and destroy tank before the tank even knows they are there.

REAL WORLD: Using sophisticated radar, helicopters use laser guided missiles to destroy tanks while only showing themselves for mere seconds.

This is a game, not the real world.

Look, morons, stop talking about this game as if it was real life, fact: Its not.

OK, I probably wouldn't be able to go prone and stand up instantly in real life.

Alas, if you insisist on making this game uber-realistic, bring back 1.12. Cos FACT: In real life, missiles from a stinger could never hit a jet employing even the most basic evasive maneuvres. FACT: Bombers would fly at huge altitude, and use latest technology to take out things like tanks. They wouldn't stand a chance. Thats realistic.

So, DONT give me this BULLSH!T about the game now being more realistic, because if it was, then the jets wouldn't get nerfed.

                          kthx?

go home and do some research. Whatever you posted showed some glowing stupidity.

actually go search for the hit statistics for stinger and IGLA, as well as AIM120/AIM9 which are used in fighter planes.

Bombers can take out tanks, but you don't send them head on into an operational anti air system. Those were tasks for spec op and stealth bombers.

maybe you need some research to do, real AA sites take longuer to lock, and aren't so effective when fired from the ground .

Real jets have more powerfull bombs and the miniguns on the front are even more powerfull then now ingame.

real jets can release flares as much as they want and as fast as they want, there isn't such thing as reloading flares.

and if you want realistic, then do some research on the black hawk with miniguns on the side, those miniguns are like superpowerfull.

in real life the M95 takes down choppers, takes out jeeps, shoots infantry in two pieces

in real life an AK47 or 101 can't hit anything further then 30m without luck

in real life you won't be able to take a bullet and just keep runnign around like nothing happend and pick up some bag that has the power to heal you

                              In real life .............

                              BF2 is an arcade game
