    GAHHH!! 6600gt...someone help me please

Hey guys, i'm new to the Boards, and i need some help! I just bought a 6600gt AGP for my PC. It runs games like Doom 3 and F.E.A.R. great. Doom 3 runs at 60 FPS average on high. and F.E.A.R. about 55 average on medium according to the stress test.

Well, Its running BF2 like crap! (go figure). I know this card isn't a 7800 but i think i should be getting more than 23-30 FPS average. Sometimes it drops down to below 20 and hangs around there. I wasn't expecting this from a 6600gt.

I'm running a 2.5 P4, 1 gig of RAM, 6600gt. Something must be bottlenecking BF2 from performing well, because it runs other games great. I even tried lowering the resolution to 800x600, and putting the settings on low. I still get the same FPS! Horrible!!!! ROAR.

I have optimized my system and it runs smooth. I ran spy and adware checks, and cleaned it all out. Tried multiple drivers for the video card, updated the bios drivers. EVERYTHING was done. Hopefully one of you can help me out.

    Thank alot in advance!!!

I have a 6600gt too, and AA seems to cause bad fps for me.

First is to disable EAX. A lot of people have found that this is a big improvement.

Next Defrag the Hard drive that BF2 is located on, apparantley BF2 really buggers about with that file locations.

If you use NVidia then roll back your NVidia drivers to 77.72

You may want to use Nasty File Remover first to ensure that no other driver files remain.

Also someone found that by stopping the movies that run on startup it helps for some reason, possibly doesnt take over resources by using memory and page files to run the start movie.

      You go into Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\xpack\movies...

Make a folder with any name and move all the files in the movies folder into the new folder you made. It will then bypass them on startup.

      I'm running:
      Athalon 64 3500
      1 gb DDR40 Ram
      6600GT vid card

Did you installed the driver for motherboard as well?
Try the 3D Mark 03, see how it performs before anything.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.

Yeah i installed the Mobo drivers. And My 3dmark03 score is like...8317 or somethin.

          Imma try the other stuff.

It just doesn't make sense that the FPS doesn't really change when i put it on low settings as opposed to medium

have a look on the hardware section of this site, the 6600 is avary common card and I am sure that there will be many posts. Otherwise post this there, they have given me some excellent advice.

For 3D mark 2003 achieving 8317, I believe you have no problem in the game,
Did you install opengl or directx9
Try reinstall the game and start the game w/ a restarted window.

your CPU and ram is a bottleneck. u need more than 1gb ram and also more than 3ghz cpu or amd 3000+
i dunno why but i run my bf2 smooth as silk with all on max and resolution on max (LCD screen) and i get an avg fps of 60. i get 30-110fps

                      My specs:
                      Leadtek 6600GT
1.28 GB RAM. 512mb+512mb+256mb \.-- 512+512 are in dual channel
                      AMD athlon xp 3000+

                          Okay...don't flame me

I had some shocking fps on this and black and white 2, what I had to do was run dxdiag and ensure that agp texture acceleration was enabled, it was greyed out originally and took some time reinstalling, drivers, direct x and flashing bios, after that it was loads better. simple I know but if you overlook it it can be so damaging

edit. I realise 'dont flame' is gonna incite flamers so go ahead, I 've had worse
