Ask your EA trusted Ranked server provider what they think of BF2RS ROE. I was amazed at what they told me. Listen to the people that you lease your server from. Ultimately they are the ones that will be losing money if ever a server is "removed" from the IP list/Ranked status pulled.

Bunnyhopping could be construed as being a general nuisance or exploiting the game.

I'd like to hear an official BF2RS Response on this particular example though.

They've said in forum posts on their site that it isn't an exploit and you can't kick for it. Sadly, it didn't make it into the official listing, probably because it's gone in a week or so. It'd still be a moral victory for the bunnyhoppers though.

Don't take this as a slam, more as constructive criticism. Between the 26500 and the 4400 people that actually registered on this board and the BF2RS boards and the 1.3 million copies sold (that figure is about 6 months old), only about 2% of the BF2 population even knows these rules exist.

How is BF2RS and EA actually going to enforce rules that more than the majority of people are not going to know about. I know you could argue that just the admins need to know this, but in reality, it would be more work than it is worth for them to have to babysit and inform the 98% of the people out there that they need to read a manual on game ettiquette before playing on their server so they know what is and isn't proper to do.

If EA wants the masses to know about this, they should probably have the url available to see on their little advertising screen. Not everyone goes to the EA site, TBF2 or BF2RS site or is even aware that the latter two even exist (again, look at the registered numbers).

I'm not saying it is good or bad, but the general public is probably going to get pretty p*ssy when they get kicked for something that they were not aware even existed. And that miscommunication does happen quite often.

Well, i think there needs to be more disecting of the "bunnyhopper" term.

I wont lie, i jump at times to avoid being shot and stuff....but i dont religiously tap the spacebar.

What really chaps my a** is dolphin divers....especially those who basically spam it and/or program a macro for it.

If anyone doesnt know about the rules, its their own fault. Because im fairly sure that the BF2 EULA points out that there are certain rules for Ranked play that players must adhere to. It probably doesnt point out every rule (since it changes often anyway), but it aleast lets players know that there ARE rules in place, and not following them can result in loss of account or play privelages, or stat wiping.

i dont really like getting between people arguing, but salad, you contradict yourself with your various statements. Skuzgib may have labeled your behaviour as acting in a superior manner, but you did say that the "all" would have the knife only/yada yada yada servers while cheating and the next thing you say is that "most" would play in a "legit" manner. i know, "apples and oranges", but you are not stating a fact in your earlier statement you are stating opinion. and it was in an offensive ("elitist") manner, or at least in my opinion it also was received that way. with that said, keep up the good work, i mean no ill feelings with this reply. i understand it must be tough being an admin over this "beast" of a game. i liken bf2rs admin positions to countries' legislative body positions. obviously, people are gonna disagree w/ the few making the laws (politics, there is one study i hate because no one is right or wrong--- politically speaking....lol). and it seems rare, even in the US, that we get to vote on different laws by population majority, but we do get to vote on our legislative body. it would be nice to see polls in place for some of these issues to be absolutely sure what is fair for the majority and not the few.

Maybe I missed this, but was there an official word on whether FF-off RANKED servers are legal?
I've seen conflicting replies from the guys at BF2RS...

Does it actually point out where you can find them? Doubt it, because those rules didn't exist until after the game was made.

ignorance of law is inexcusable, not in any legal system.

This is a video game, not the Local Judiciary.

Your missing the whole point of what I said. Which, on that note, I'm not going to bother replying to this thread seeing as people can't seem to see that half the problem would be corrected if the information were easy to find for the majority of the people that just log on to play and if they fixed some of the issues in game in a timely manner so that they don't need to be told (so that it is unavailable to do so in the first place).

Bunnyhopping is not a bannable/kickable offense because it is part of the game and a good way to avoid getting killed. It is merely an evasive tactic. But when combined with noob toobers, then it becomes an annoyance.

It doesnt have to. As long as you agreed to abide by them, which you did by agreeing to the EULA.

If anyone was concerned enough to follow them, im pretty sure EA would return an email outlining the rules for the inquirer.

I think too many people are taking shots at BF2RS, which is solely out there to ensure fair play. Now, while some of their decisions end up tromping on people who play fairly, thats only a very SMALL percentage of players compared to the cheaters/hackers/exploiters/smacktards they quelm with their decisions and policies.

Personally, I'm GLAD we have such an establishment working so closely with the developer and publisher to ensure the best possible gaming experience.

Remember, you ALWAYS have the option to play on unranked servers.
