So where is the list of rules that are "considered valid for those servers."?

I thought that was section 1 of the ROE. Infact, the ROE states:
1 GLOBALLY ENFORCED RANKED SERVER RULES

These are rules that all administrators and players using ranked servers are expected to observe and are set by EA, BF2RS under the EULA/TOS/RSA/ROE.

So are you saying there is ANOTHER set of rules?

There is a difference between limiting what a person may use and limiting how a person may use something. At least, in EA's world.

Frankly, I agree with you though in that most of Section 3 appears to violate Section 1.5.

That is what I am saying:

Section 1 (That EVERYONE MUST DO) says:

§1.5 Server administrators may not explicitly or implicitly (by actions) enforce restrictions on vehicles or weapons that players can use while on your server (e.g. knives only, aircraft prohibited except for clan members, etc.)

So EVERYONE (All RANKED SERVERS, EVEN PRIVATELY RENTED RANKED SERVERS) can put NO restrictions on Vehicles or Weapons that a player can use.

If these rule apply to ALL SERVERS, how can Section 3 then say Privately ranked servers can:

          • § Artillery fire or bombing runs on main (uncapturable) bases may be prohibited.
          • § Prolonged or sustained attacks on main (uncapturable) bases (i.e. spawncamping).
          • § Using the Transport Helicopters to take flags (Blackhawk whoring or flag hopping).
These are WEAPONS (Artillery, bombs, Backhawks) and they are being RESTRICTED (don't use on uncapables, don't use to take flags, etc.)

          The rules are not consistent.

What does the patch have to do with any of this?

How will the patch make the rules consistent?

Can we please have a statement on the FF issues brought up?
As far as I can see this is just as important as the other rules consideringhte amount of servers with FF off.

Nobody's addressing it because it's not relevant. If you'd bother to read the damn ROE, you'd see that.

Patch will fix current gameplay issues, which is a start.

The rules have been made clear ff off is NOT allowed on ranked servers

It should be obvious to anyone who takes a moment to think about it.

These rules basicly state that you cannot tell that they are not alowed to use vehicles, kits, resources. You can't make a rule that says "Vehicles are for clan memebers only" or "only use knives and pistols" or "no snipers".

However, it is permissable to restrict certain behaviours that involve those assets in order to promote better public game play. By stating that you cannot attack uncappable bases they are not saying you can't use a plane, they are saying you can't use a plane to blow the living crap outta uncappable bases.

The real problem here is that so many BF2 players (actually, people in general) that have a very hard time with the idea of respect. If you're playing on a server that has local server rules, it's up to you to respect them. Disrespecting those rules doesn't make you cool. It makes you an ass. If you don't agree with those local rules, fine. No one is making you play there. There's lots of other servers.

How is BF2RS and EA actually going to enforce rules that more than the majority of people are not going to know about. I know you could argue that just the admins need to know this, but in reality, it would be more work than it is worth for them to have to babysit and inform the 98% of the people out there that they need to read a manual on game ettiquette before playing on their server so they know what is and isn't proper to do.

If EA wants the masses to know about this, they should probably have the url available to see on their little advertising screen. Not everyone goes to the EA site, TBF2 or BF2RS site or is even aware that the latter two even exist (again, look at the registered numbers).

I'm not saying it is good or bad, but the general public is probably going to get pretty p*ssy when they get kicked for something that they were not aware even existed. And that miscommunication does happen quite often.
That doesn't bother me as much as the minority making rules....they say they speak for the community but I have never heard of them until a few days ago . I have owned this game since the day it was realeased.......and then having this minority tell me how I am going to play a game :hmm:.

Personally BF2RS should stick to just reseting stat padders or getting them bad not change poeple's gameplay a la c4 jeeps. If they want to change the gameplay in servers then maybe they should have ea patch it so it isn't possible. Then when thousands hear about a change from ea they will respond, it would be better then some minority telling me how I should play my games.

There isn't always a lot of other servers in certain geographical regions. For example, Quebec.

Also, about this behaviour stuff, where do you draw the line? Apparently it's okay to restrict the behaviour of UCB camping. Is it also okay to restrict the behaviour of say... using vehicles to kill infantry? How about using air power against ground?

The limit isn't defined and that's a bad situation.

The way I view it: Take a random player, have them join a ranked server. If they are banned solely for taking a certain vehicle, firing or killing someone with a certain weapon, or picking a specific kit, the server is in violation.

Is it also okay to restrict the behaviour of say... using vehicles to kill infantry? How about using air power against ground?
By doing that, you're essentially telling someone they're not allowed to use bombs or jeep turrets. See my previous note.

Telling someone they can't, oh, strafe ground targets with spitfire... that's a gray area, which there are plenty of, and you can report that to BF2RS and see what they have to say.

The ROE is not an exhaustive list, it's simply there to give people with so much as a fragment of common sense a clue as to what they're allowed to do and not do.

The exact reasons I don't play America's Army is starting to wear on me with this game, and I am sure you understand me when I say that.

The way I play the game, really isn't affected by the rules. But, generally speaking, I feel the community and the makers of it have gone a bit off the deep end, and I am saying that as nicely as possible without using words I'd rather use.

Alot of what I dislike about this game probably stems from the fact that I was a BF42/BFV/DC player and this game is a bit off the path from what I was used to in the BF series, if any of that makes any sense. Which is probably why I don't feel as hooked on this game as DC.

If you weren't one of the hardcore players from DC, all of what I said is probably lost on you. Same probably goes for plenty of the hardcore 42 and V players.
