The initial thought was that having a server set up that way was giving other players an unfair advantage to earn points (IE Padding), but BF2RS conceded to the fact that it really isnt, and its ok as long as the server is run in the normal fashion abiding by the RoE.

Ok good. Because one of my favorite servers is a 32 slot, 64 player Karkand :p.

In reguards to the carpet bombing with transport choppers, it's been reworded now. So now i gather the rule was intent for people who take the transport out of the battle grounds and just toss c4/grenades out to stat pad resupply points. The rules seem to suggest that this is still ok in the battle grounds.

I'm not trying to be elitist in any way, I'm just stating the facts. While most people play legit and are fine, you can NOT forget those that will abuse and exploit the system as well as they can.

If you want to have a say in what goes on with the RoE, you are more than welcome to post in the Official ROE Discussion thread, found on the BF2RS forums.

IndianScout then clarified it, as stated in your post, that it's fine, as long as it follows normal gameplay rules, and does not violate any other section of the RoE.

I'm bloody impressed. They took feedback to heart and made changes based on it. This is what community is about. Hats off to those guys for really listening and working towards building a better experiance for us players.

I still don't agree with a couple of the finer points, but since they've proven that they listen, my confidance that they are doing their job well has been remarkably boosted.

So that when 16/64 knife/pistol/nocap servers complain, we have yet another rule to pin on them. Lol,

Brahma, your registration is never 'pulled'. If you are talking about being banned, it is only done if you publicly harass a member of the forums (usually repeatedly), and/or directly insult EA, BF2RS, or PlanetCombat, in a way that is not constructive at all (ie: *** you **** ***** **** omg **** ***).

I did not harass anyone. I was the one harassed. After having a must be squad rule on our server for months(and several BF2RS admins beside HardDriver having played on it) there was neve a problem or question raised by BF2RS until one came on and couldn't follow the rules. He made a posting and I replied and gave proof of EA saying it was a legit rule for a ranked server. HardDrive came to our defense so he was fired. I showed the proof after IndianScout said it was not legit. I hurt his ego I guess because then I am banned and he has made sure that within 24 hours of EA saying it is a legit rule now it isn't. I notice revision 2 has this omittednow. Our rules are to ensure a fair and balanced gamin experience. We do not stat pad and we stream the MBL. We do everything we can to promote what EA has stated from day one is a game based on team play.

again you are wrong, EA had me pull the "Squad" rule a few hours back because of feedback to both EA and BF2RS, the rule was never in force before and it isnt now, you server was in violation of the ROE and was reported to EA by me..

the new ROE states you dont have to be in a squad either.. so you if you force the issue you will be in violation again..

That was the other issue that I thought was kinda silly. If people wanna run a no lone wolves server, I don't see a problem with it. It doesn't impact their score, doesn't promote stats padding, and no one is forcing people to play there.

I'm liking the previling wind of reason and community feedback.

So, can someone from BF2RS tell me something? Because frankly this whole thread has made me more confused than clear...

Ok, what I want to know is: is having a 32 slot server play a 64 player map considered stat padding?

I KNOW this (32 man limit on 64 man map) is ok
as Indian Scout has watched in our server MANY MANY times
because people complained we must be cheating because we ripp so often (well - when you have 5 Sgt Major and a few Master/First Sgt all on Vent - we should ripp - right??)
and he has even chatted with us on IM
and he has NEVER made a comment about our "player vs map size"

and ref another post?

NO way if you do it like we do - killing armor/vehicles
we do it all the time
we do NOT just toss it out on the fields to rack points
we do it to kill kill kill

I think Gimpy sums it all up there with my feelings about it too. I was pleasantly suprised I must say that the rules literally changed before my eyes in a 10 minute period today, whilst participating in the official ROE discussion. I would really like to thank Indian Scout, everyone from BF2RS, Shawn from EA and all involved with listening to the community and taking their concerns seriously, my hat goes off to all you guys, thanks very much and keep up the great work you guys are doing to make BF2 the game it deserves to be and an enjoyable/fun experience for all.

Our concerns were primarily about the rule which stated we couldn't kick flying commanders. We have had run that rule from day 1 and people really enjoy that rule and its partially responsible for our server remaining full 24/7. I am so pleased BF2RS and EA made an about face on this rule and allow us to kick commanders who don't do their job properly because they are flying.

Thanks again, the rule changes are much appreciated by our whole community and I'm sure our guests who play on our server as well.

switch, the RoE was updated today, and one of the things that was ammended is that a server running 64 player maps that has the max player count at 16 is in fact giving those players an unfair advantage, and will be treated as such.

Yet you can still easily stat pad on official ranked servers to get expert badges.
