We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
why cant you have 3 gigs? 2 slots with 512's and 2 with 1 gig sticks = 3 gigs
If I was you I would do a couple of tests with that configuration and also try removing the 2 1/2 gig sticks.
You will find most boards will truggle with unbalanced memory like that.
At a guess I would say you might find the game will run faster by just having the 2 gig sticks and not having the 2 1/2 gig ones in as well.
I would suggest running a memory benchmark. I use this program called everest you can download the trial here http://www.lavalys.com/products/down...?pid=3&lang=en Once installed go to the very bottom of the list and click the plus sign next to benchmark and run all 3 memory tests. Just click the one you want to run and click the refresh icon at the very top. It won't take long.
This is with my 2 gb Ocz Platinum @ 200mhz (2-3-2-5) 1T
Anyway this should give you a good idea of how your ram is performing.
Got 3X 512mb Ram PC3200 (4100 mb/sec) on this system and to be fair i dont think the Bios is set right as it does not give the right speed of the memory in auto mode. But hey it playes Bf2 fantastic with everything turned up to max except dinamic lighting.
I seen i slight difference from only the 1GB ram to the 1.5 GB. going over the two sounds a waste.
AMD64 3400+
Asus K8VSE
Soundblaster Fx ExtreameMusic
SATA 7200rpm drive
6800gt Galaxy
Are you sure that my setup should be at 6000 mb/sec? Prior to adding in the 2gigs, I benched it and it was about 4600mb/sec
I ran memtest and It is at 400mhz and is duel channel.
Yes I'm sure, and here's why...
you have:
AMD64 3200+
MSI K8N NEO4
SATA150 7200rpm
6800gt
I have:
AMD64 3200+
MSI K8N NEO4
SATA150 7200rpm
x800xl
As you can see, we have the same CPU, mobo, type and speed HD, virtually same video card.
I'm using 2x1024 Corsair Value ram in dual channel and I just ran an Everest( http://www.lavalys.com/products/over...?pid=3&lang=en ) memory benchmark(while using several open progs) which came to:
Read: 5383
Write: 1983
Latency: 57.8
I guess saying 6k was a little high, but under 5k is definately something not right.
Also, use CPU-Z to check your current ram speeds/timings etc, not memtest. Goto http://www.cpuid.org/cpuz.php and get version 1.32 and report back.

Lastly, as someone else mentioned, you're probably at a 2T command rate with the ram...even if it IS running the correct 400mhz. This could definately account for the aprox 15% reduction in your benchmark compared to mine.
It might just be that, make sure you are on 1T with 2x1024 just for testing purposes and see what happens.
Just put in 2 gig of ram for a total of 3 gigs, and I don't see that much difference.
The game appears to load 15 to 20 seconds faster but most of the delay is on the account server logon and the verify client data page. Anyone have any tweaks to speed it up?
My SPECS:
AMD64 3200+
MSI KN8 NEO4
SATA150 7200rpm
6800gt card
3 gigs of CAS2 PC3200 Duel Channel (4100 mb/sec)
Guys please stop flaming the bloke for having 3Gigs of RAM!!!
As for your actual question mate, i'm not sure but i'd say it was all on the internet side of things, either your net connection or the server you are joining. I currently have a 2Meg d/l speed going up to 10meg quite soon and I find it all depends on the server you wish to join. The verify client stuff is something to do with punkbuster I think. There must be a program out there somewhere that will ping your whole connection for you and tell you if there are any bottlenecks about. I think thats probably the problem, we all get them no matter what system you have, especially in europe for some reason!
HTH in some way.:)
I know when I installed mine I screwed up by putting my 2 1gb sticks in 1 channel and I couldn't run 1T so at least with my motherboard I had to put 1 stick in a purple slot and 1 stick in a green slot. This would make it run dual channel allowing me to run at 1T.
I have also heard make sure you fill the dimm slots closest to your cpu 1st.
As for connection issues run a trace route on the server.
Start, run, type cmd then type tracert <serverip>
(remember to remove the < > and dont use the server ip port just the ip) Paste the results in here. This will show each hop it takes to get to the server and show any bottlenecks.

Ok, then you've given up 500mb/sec right off the bat. Why not just do as you were advised, and then post the benchmarks... It's not going to hurt, and may very well help. A lot.
Run 3DMark 2005
Take the 2 512s out and use the 2 x 1Gb you just bought.
Run both benches again, and post results.
When you see that the 2 512 sticks are holding your machine back, you can sell them and use the money for something useful. Either way, 3 Gb is a waste for a gaming machine.
I just ran it with all 3 gigs in Everest and I am getting 5129 mb/sec on 2T. That is just 4.7% off than someone at 1T.
I think it is running fine. My initial post was more to point out that adding more ram over 1gig did not seem to change much. I know that 3gigs will not be used now, but in 12 months it might be a good idea.

What happens when you try to run it at 1T? I know when I accidently had my 2 gb sticks in 1 channel and ran at 1T it wouldn't POST. Then again I only have 2 of 4 dimm slots filled not sure if it would make a difference.

I tried running it at 1T and it ran fine, however, for some reason it was single channel only, and only benched at 2900mb/sec. I also tried it with just the 2 gigs and their was not much difference.
