    Thanks.
    No.
The M95 has higher penatration. This works agains body armour too. The M24 (standard USMC sniper rifle) doesn't do as much damage to armoured classes as it does to soft ones. Thus, the M95 is more reliable in it's damage, but less reliable in it's accuracy.

Plus, it can shoot through fences and other thin walls.

even the most skilled snipers dont always kill a target in one shot, sometimes they only wound thier targets.

anyone see the Juba Sniper video floating around the web? First off i do not condone Juba's practices, lets just get that right out of the way. But he is a very skilled sniper. But you see in a few instances soldiers running away after being shot, another soldier jumps eradicaly shaking his hand that he was just shot in. Not every shot goes where you want it. If you want to see what a real sniper's day would consist of, his wins, and downfalls look at the video, it should open your eyes a bit. (warning, video contains horrid images of questionable subject matter, view at your own discretion)

The M95's crosshairs were retardedly large, fat whatever, its good that they reduced thier size. The M24 has always been my rifle of choice thanks to that goof up. The new "awp", or L96A1 hopefully will turn out to be what it really is, a killer sniper rifle, not necessarily a one shot kill weapon, but definately effective.

holy ****........ that video shows like 30 us soldiers in the middle east getting killed....

how the f^ck do you call that skilled. all of the soldiers are standing around and he just points and shoots.

he only takes two shots at the same campout once.

you can call it whatever you like, but i call it cowardice.

          No. No one shot kills.

As it is, players take so much incidental damage (running into things, jumping off of hills, falling, running into other players, taking a little splash damage) that it's quite easy to find people missing at least 2 bars, thus making for a one shot kill anyway.

          It's a bad idea. Period.

WHAAA! That's not realistic! As a sniper I should be able to kill anything on the map with one shot!!!!11!!one.

Sorry, felt compeled to say it before it inevitably comes up.
lol nah im not an AA realism guy, I choose fun over realism. I just want this game to be a little more like BF42 was :)
Not only that but I'd rather die than be left with 2 little bars of health left know what I mean? Might as well suicide than waste 1 minute trying to run from him when hes still going to kill you
But hey I'm not complaining, I would just like it if that did happen, if it doesnt, which is probably what is going to happen, then fine by me.

um, thats what a sniper does, point and shoot, derrrrrrrrr. Juba has 153 confirmed kills, i wouldnt say he lacks skill. A sniper almost never takes 2 shots from the same location when he is trying to go unnoticed, and with swarms of U.S. troop around wouldnt you figure thats in his best interest? I simply suggested the video for examples of real scenario sniping, not for you to cry over, but to see what was up if you didnt already know.

Re: M95 in patch has thinner lines and increased accuarcy, comparable to the M24

Personally I think the M95 is fine how it is, minus the bulky crosshairs. I think it needs some sort of trade off for the additional power, such as the existing innacuracy. Perhaps the could make it as accurate as the M24 when lying down, but less accurate when standing or crouching. I can't imagine being able to fire a 50. sniper unsupported with good accuracy and/or not hurting yourself in the process.

As for the one hit kill.. no. Just.. no. The last thing that BF2 needs, along with bunnyhoppers, C4 tossing, noob tubing, vehicle whoring, etc. is another one hit kill weapon, especially one that could be used at long range like a sniper rifle. Realism be damned. Gameplay comes first.

But yeah... M95's current innacuracy is fine by me. See how the L96 shapes up in terms of damage and accuracy. It might end up making the M95 obselete.

As far as the L96, anyone know anything about it yet? Like, whether or not it's practically an M24 or M95 clone?

Well remember, if snipers want to instant kill then all they have to do is practice getting headshots all the time...

What snipers need is not more power but more accuracy.. especially over long ranges.

What? They dont need more power?

Wouldn't you like a sniper that kills if you hit 1 meter beside the target? :p

I've nearly took a whole round to kill someone with the thick cross hairs, even tho i'm sure i was 100% aimed at hes body...

                          Thanks.

The M95 isnt an M24 with a thick crosshair...theyre totally different. Even at ranges where the thickness of the crosshair is irelavent i still routinely miss targets that the Barret is blatently pointing right at, targets that i would have no trouble hitting with an m24.

i cant really put my finger on why its so hard to use though, which is the annoying part...it seems random. Which to a degree is true for the m24 aswell.

My own theory is that the Barret is prone to bugs with the collision and seems to deviate more (even though the crosshair is steady on all rifles). It could be that the gun is more effective when prone...but this seems to incur random collision errors like bullets disappearing into the ground.

erm it's pritty much insta death with the granade launcher... and with the sniping rifle you got to at least use the scope!

Personally i've got used to using the m95 and although it isn't great, a damage boost rather than a accurasy boost would have been better, thus leaving the l96 more accurate but not 1 hit kill. Maby that isn't realistic but it would give the unlocked sniper rifles a bit of variation.

As for people saying they cant hit a thing with the m95, it's a matter of habit. I can't hit a thing with the m24, even if it is in my face but can easily hit targets with the m95 at about 200 meters range.

Yes, thinner crosshairs sound great. Making the sniper rifle 1 shot kill? no... biiiiiiig no. This ain't CS mate. Other than that- people will see too much of a benefit because of this imbalance and there will be a crazy influx of people using sniper kits with M95 unlock, soon enough we're going to see a huuuuuuuge spawn-camping, base-camping, generally-sniper problem (you've seen the many threads here already regarding all those things... we don't need more justification for people to complain :P).

Also, yes... the M95 on BF2:Modern Combat is a 1 shot killer. But did you fail to mention it is XBOX? Where the mouse is more of a precision device than those d-pad/joysticks - it would not be wise to turn PC BF2 M95s into 1 shot kill weapons.
