    Re: Snipers look here!

I dont know why this is such a big issue. Snipers have ghille suits. Find a f****** bush to hide in. Tank drives right f****** past. It has never failed me. (Same with humvee, buggy, whatever, cause they drive so fast.) I've had damn infantry run past me. A ghille suit....your best friend.

^Even if you have kevlar umberellas I think that explosives would penetrate it haha.

Anyway I think Snipers should be able to pop tyres of the Humvees and other light armor with wheels, but they could be fixed by Engineers.

Or if your having such trouble hiding from armor etc, then height is your friend, just climb up a building or crane etc, try one thats not commonly used, then put a claymore at the ladder to stop enemies comming up, but alert your own team at the same time, with hope none of your team will climb up.

Realistically, the M95 should be capable of disabling light armor. If the game engine can allow a shot to immobilize a vehicle without otherwise harming it and still be repairable, it would work well. Even the non-snipers trolling here would like it, theyd have more reason to hunt snipers down for easy knifes.

I dont expect anything useful like that to be added except in mods though.
and you tell me , he shoot that thing from 1600 meters (thats a mile) with a rifle like the m24 or m95 ? i highly doubt that ...

          made some researches .

the ammo used is "armor-piercing, explosive, and incendiary effects and uses a highly effective pyrotechnically initiated fuze that delays detonation of the main projectile charge until after initial target penetration—moving projectile fragmentation and damage effect inside the target for maximum anti-personnel and fire start effect. While the round can be used in sniper rifles similar to the Barrett M82A1/XM107, it has the equivalent firing power of a 20 mm projectile to include such targets as helicopters, aircraft, light armour vehicles, ships and light fortifications, and can ignite JP4 and JP8 military jet fuel."

which however requires a "rifle" like the "Barrett M82A1/XM107" http://www.snipercentral.com/m82.htm and weight around 15 kg !. And is far too big and unhandy to be carried around for normal sniper tasks (good luck aiming at people lol). Btw the max effectiv range of those special rounds is at around 1000m top.

No, don't! A "friend" hopping around shouting FIRST AID/AMMO HERE when you're trying to remain hidden isn't going to help that much :).

I don't see why sniper should be the anti-vehicle unit. When I'm sniping, I generally keep moving all the time and try to remain hidden as much as possible. If an enemy vehicle is driving near by, why not simply let him go? He sure as **** won't come back again.

And by the way, snipers can be pretty usefull in battlefield too if you know how to play as one. If you're a Dr. Obvious -type of player and "hide" as a sniper in cranes and rooftops, you're not much use. Try to get behind enemy lines, change location constantly and simply let the enemy vehicles go if you can't harm them. Snipers, as already mentioned, can be good spotters to. It helps your teams copterpilot a lot when he knows where the enemy copter is heading/facing even if he doesn't see it. Same goes with spotting tanks. But generally the spotting applies to all units. People just doesn't seem to bother to spot enemy tanks that often.

I've used to be sort of an anti-sniper myself too but now it seems to be my secret perversion and I can score pretty good kill death ratio-rounds with sniperlonewolfing. :)

YES, OF COURSE THE M95 WILL BLOW UP JEEPS, KILL GUYS IN ONE SHOT AT HUGE RANGE, GO THROUGH ARMORED PERSONAL CARRIERS, ETC!

EXCEPT IF YOU PUT A ONE SHOT KILL EVERYTHING GUN IN THE GAME, GUESS WHAT?? EVERYONE WILL USE IT YOU IDIOT!

play a mod if you want a gun that kills everything in one shot, even for no skill snipers.

OH YEAH, somebody said that the M95 and M82 HAVE A max range of 1000 m.... complete and utter BS you read from an internet site, and you think that makes you an authority on it?

you too are a friggin idiot! i live in canada, and my neighbor has a son who was in JTF2, and while in Afghanistan with american snipers they ROUTINELY shot insurgents at 2 600 m plus.

of course, you need to be a REAL sniper, know windage, drop and all that, cold barrel and everything, not one of these morons in BF2 who just knows how to line up a mouse cursor.

and you say the M82 is "too heavy" to be carried around for "normal sniper tasks" when it weighs 15 kg?

good thing the US army doesnt hire 90 pound weaklings like you as sniper, i dont know where the hell youve been, but any combat infantry, even "light infantry" carries over 100 pounds of ammunition, weapons, water, medical supplies, flares etc.

like you would have any clue what "normal sniper tasks" are anyway, its certainly not running around endlessly and bunny hopping like the losers in BF2 do.

Even if you managed to pierce the fuel storage on tank ... (not sure if you can irl), don't they have foam retardents to prevent fires?

Anyways, I love climbing on enemy tanks. Did it a couple times yesterday and killed a few before they even found me. Once you hit them, they hop around all confused and wondering where it came from x)

Oh yeah Intensiv, well, my neighbour's cousin's uncle's brother was a survivalist and he says that when the New World Order comes, he says he'll be able to use his civillian M-95 to protect the constitution to only about 1000 meters... Guess what, my story is probably just as true as yours. Anyway, I think that as it stands right now with the M-95 being a total POS, it's ability to shoot through the glass in aircraft is damn near useless for anything but team-killing. Maybe with the increased accuracy, the Sniper will be a force against death-from-above, as for vehicles, you can shoot anyone out of HMMVs etc with an M-95, if anything; I'd rather see the sniper given an MP-5 SD or some other SMG for defence rather than anything more anti-vehicle.

The idea about shooting out the fuel tank is stupid - this is battlefield not hollywood. Moron. If vehicles get that close to you, you're hiding in completely the wrong places.

True, the Barrett is an anti (light)armour rifle, but being able to disable vehicles might be a bit much - I'd like the Barrett to be able to go through the shield on top of Hummers and Vodniks though.
