Okay, we've established that shooting a tank with a sniper rifle to blow it up wouldn't be good. However, he didn't specify tanks in his original post. He said "every vehicle." Since we have the tank aspect of it covered, how about we move on to, say, those little buggies and humvees, rather than making another fifty redundant posts saying "you can't blow up a tank with a sniper rifle."
And on that subject... I don't think that shooting the gas tank of something with make it explode. That's more like what you'll see in a movie, not in real life. What would be more likely is that your gas tank would just have a big hole in it, and you'd soon run out of gas. Needless to say, I'm pretty sure we can all agree that running out of gas in the middle of a battle could potentialy be just as bad as being blown up.Comment

You can take out Hummwee/Vodnik drivers with an M95 (or, in the case of the Humwees with anything if you shoot through the opened side windows) and people in a DPV with any rifle (or even a claymore or two). And i don't think that a head is a more difficult target than a gas tank...Comment

Like it was posted earlier, Balance. The only infantry unit that should be capable of taking out armor is the AT unit. However the assult class isnt totally fubar when encountering armor. Many times ive been able to flashbang so a SpecOps/Engineer or AT unit can get to them. In case you were wondering IRL Tanks and APC's own all infantry. So quit whining and play another class, or god forbid drive your own tank.Comment

I must agree with the majority on this one. A sniper should not be able to blow up vehicles with a shot to the gas tank or some other area. In my opinion snipers should never be in the situation where a tank or apc or any vehicle rolls up to them. Why? Because why the hell are you sniping at an area that is so easily accesible. Snipers in no way are meant to take over flags by themselves. They simply lack the firepower to do so. Sure I have every once in a while and ive seen many others to, but what snipers should be doing is pointing out enemy armor locations and killing or suppressing any infantry while a squad is taking a flag.Comment

I'd like better effects when shooting cars etc with me guns. M95 blowing out tires and windscreens leading to bad control and a bad visibility would be cool imo..

A Marine sniper took out these Iraqi armored personnel carriers from a distance of 1,600 meters (1,750 yards) during the 1991 Gulf War. The vehicle on the left is burning, ignited by a Raufoss multipurpose 50 caliber round.
Realistically, the M95 should be capable of disabling light armor. If the game engine can allow a shot to immobilize a vehicle without otherwise harming it and still be repairable, it would work well. Even the non-snipers trolling here would like it, theyd have more reason to hunt snipers down for easy knifes.
I dont expect anything useful like that to be added except in mods though.Comment

or to get knifed.... other than that they r only useful for spotting...

The only thing i liked about this thread was by rtgbs7k and his idea to damage vehicles controlability/visibilty.
I could see that a sniper would be effective against tanks if the game engine allowed the M95 (only) to take out the view-port of a tank or APC as it's a very small, but vital, target. Maybe only damage it so there's a cracked glass kinda look that distorts everything for the armor's driver, but that's the only thing i'd give to snipers against armor
Like others have said, snipers are supposed to give long range infantry support. Heck, that's what I do and I help out my team against the soft targets greatly.Comment

Regardless of which class I play I have a problem with planes dropping bombs on me! Therefore to continue the theme above - I think we should all have kevlar umberellas what we put up when we hear a plane go past.
