    made some researches .

the ammo used is "armor-piercing, explosive, and incendiary effects and uses a highly effective pyrotechnically initiated fuze that delays detonation of the main projectile charge until after initial target penetration—moving projectile fragmentation and damage effect inside the target for maximum anti-personnel and fire start effect. While the round can be used in sniper rifles similar to the Barrett M82A1/XM107, it has the equivalent firing power of a 20 mm projectile to include such targets as helicopters, aircraft, light armour vehicles, ships and light fortifications, and can ignite JP4 and JP8 military jet fuel."

which however requires a "rifle" like the "Barrett M82A1/XM107" http://www.snipercentral.com/m82.htm and weight around 15 kg !. And is far too big and unhandy to be carried around for normal sniper tasks (good luck aiming at people lol). Btw the max effectiv range of those special rounds is at around 1000m top.

The M95 is made by the same company and fires the same rounds as the M82A1. Its not heavy or unwieldy, its designed to be fired supported by a bipod like any decent shooter would use. Hitting someone at 1600m wouldnt be a problem for a .50 caliber rifle like the M95, the current record for a .50 round is 2430m. Your "researches" suck. Good luck aiming at people? I dont know how you reach these conclusions but they suck.

I was going to reply to Intensiv too, but I reconsidered because he's an ass. I hope you get cancer.

Guess what, my story is probably just as true as yours. Anyway, I think that as it stands right now with the M-95 being a total POS, it's ability to shoot through the glass in aircraft is damn near useless for anything but team-killing. Maybe with the increased accuracy, the Sniper will be a force against death-from-above, as for vehicles, you can shoot anyone out of HMMVs etc with an M-95, if anything; I'd rather see the sniper given an MP-5 SD or some other SMG for defence rather than anything more anti-vehicle.
      ah, complete bs.

but, ask GREY_KNIGHT, my friend who lives in edmonton, and he'll confirm that i live in kelowna, canada.

my neighbors son was a JTF2 member who was deployed to bosnia, afghanistan and everything before getting injured.

the snipers routinely take out guys with all kinds of 50 caliber sniper rifles at way over 2000 m.

try talking to an actual soldier who knows from experience, not seeing a website and quoting it as facts.

        you too!

despite the fact that you agreed with me, except that there have been numerous cases well over 2000 m.

im amazed at how the people on this forum can visit one website and then present its information as facts, and pretend that they're suddenly an authority on the subject, disregarding the fact that they just proved they're an idiot.

Snipers, just like every other kit other than Special ops and AT can't take out tanks (other than with nades) because the game wouldn't be balanced if they could....

Who thinks there should be a small area of every vehicle, perhaps the petrol tank area, where if you shoot it twice or once or something, the vehicle explodes?
I think we all really wish you gave some thought to your 'issue' before posting this thread/flame-fest.

Think of it this way- your complaint about the sniper not having a chance against tanks is illogical. What if you were AT then? are you going to complain that you don't have a chance against enemy aircraft bombing?

Yes... if a tank manages to spot you in some grass... then unfortunately- it's your fault for not hiding yourself in a better place where the tank isn't going. You're a sniper- you're meant to find a place where no one would expect to find you- and so you WON'T be spotted by an enemy unit.

Plus- even if you did hit the vehicle's fuel tank with a sniper round- it is not bound to blow up, at best, you're only putting holes in its tank. You been watching too many hollywood films. Also- the tank's armour plating is too thick, and there's way too much between the exterior armour and equipment of the tank- for a sniper bullet to even get NEAR the tank's fuel.

Why don't EA decide to give ALL the kits nuclear warheads eh? so then we ALL have a chance to take out the enemy vehicles? C'mon- if you don't like being killed by vehicles- then avoid them; you're a sniper, go kill soldiers and other key infantry personnel, let other people with the capacity to destroy tanks do their thing. Your function is to eliminate enemy infantry (and possibly helicopter pilots) at a long range; you're almost a support role in battle.

Must I bang my head against the desk intensiv, I don't know who in the name of St. Belinda you are... I do know however that to make a 2000m shot, you have to aim about 12 feet above the target and hope that he doesn't get up and finish his tea before the bullet gets anywhere near him. Fact of the matter stands even with the fantastic Macmillan Big-Tac rifles that your JTF 2 associate would be using, I still call BS.... As I said, my distant connected survivalist says different and neither story is true... Don't make me prove this by induction.

In my totally newbie days- I thought I could kill everyone in a tank by throwing a grenade down the hatch... never works :P On the odd occaision that there's a gunner- it'll kill him, but doesn't stop the tank.

I reckon that should be a part of the next patch/fix.

                    1. Hide.

                    2. Retake flag when he leaves.

He is tank- explosive shells, treads, armour n all... You? sniper... soft skinned, with a glorified pellet gun (in comparison to Tank).

Maybe if you politely ask the tank to move away, he might just be nice and cuddly to you and leave you alone.

Sorry, everytime I see this thread, I just have to vent :P

Trust me- when you fire a sniper round or two into a barrel of fuel- all you will get is holes in a barrel of fuel. It will not necessarily blow up. Trust me. You're getting this "If I shoot the fuel tank of a car, it will blow up" from the movies!

Anyway I think Snipers should be able to pop tyres of the Humvees and other light armor with wheels, but they could be fixed by Engineers.
IRL Hummvees and other military vehicles have special, reinforced tires that stay usable even when flattened, so this makes no sense...

                              Mmm... Run-Flat technology...

I know eh Horatio_Bloom. All these people here are suggesting all these things they see in the movies, when most of it hardly resembles real-life. I'll agree that in BF2 - if you crash 2 light vehicles together- or a light vehicle into a heavy vehicle- it will blow up, rather than get shunted into a heap of junk, but that is BF2. However, I don't think DICE and EA have been trying to mould BF2 into 'hollywood' material.

The explosions are definately not big enough :p

why would you need to popm the tires when you could just shoot the driver out of it? you can take pot-shots with a pistol and take the driver out.

More to the point, if you are a sniper, WHY THE HELL are you running around and capturing flags? you should be hiding and picking off infantry men form the hills and hiding in bushes shooting things not running up to people! leave vehicle destruction to engineers, anti tanks and other vehicles.
