I bought BF2 without even knowing that here was a ranking system so yes, I'd continue to play without points.

Playing for fun only, not for points becomes boring very fast. This way the points you are after create the challenge and the fun.

Wow. I couldn't disagree more. I spend most of my time playing on unranked servers where VoIP and team gameplay are easier to find.

You must be one of the few players that would rateher play on unranked server. There are lot of players on unranked servers too but most of them have a pirated copy of the game. I can't understand your reasoning. As I said I've played a lot of great games like Half Life 2, SWAT4, Ghost Reacon, Far Cry, All the Grand Theft Auto... I haven't played them since I finished them,and that happened few weeks after I bought them. I'm still playing BF2 7 months later.

Heh heh, well- I think both has its ups n downs. Playing with stats has the added benefit of unlocking guns and all the cool awards and ranks. Playing without stats... well- people would have a better gaming spirit than all this point-farming/stat-padding/hacking/cheating business.

I still like to kiss my G36C goodnight though.

I play to kill people.. stupid people specifically. Hence why I play pubs a lot.

I'd still play this game without the ranking points. I do like them, nice way of getting the un-locks, but I also enjoy going on an empty server with a few friends and where basically anything goes. Much more fun belting around without any rules, knowing that masses of deaths aren't 'hurting my stats' and no one is going to shoot me for wanting to fly.

Yeah, but, there would be less to enjoy without stats and individual scores. Why let a couple cheaters or hackers ruin it for everybody?

this is even more stupid, even when you don't play, you get points , lol .

if there are points to earn, you need to earn those in a round, simple as that, and what happens in that round , whatever happens beyond that round is out of your hand and you don't have to pay the bill or take the credit for what happens without your knowledge .

And now with the stats, they aren't perfect , but at someone's stats you can sdee something, if he is good with this or that, bla bla bla , in your system you won't see crap .

also, I you don't like the stats, play on unranked servers .

And people like you are the people who didn't play BF1942 , where there where no stats, and I can tell you, there was a hel of a lot more TK ing going on there and stuff you can't even imagine, because nowbody cared about anything , why shouyld they, next round or day everything can be forgotten .

in these days, it was hard to get in a plane without a teammaete shooting you , or lift up with the plane without getting shot down .

Now, we do see things like this, but not as much

I play on ranked from time to time, if I had 30 minutes to kill, but I find that the control that people have over unranked servers alows them to change the game more towards a type of gameplay that I enjoy. I wouldn't say that unranked = warez. Most of the unranked servers have PB turned on and up until last week it was possible to play on ranked servers with a warez version and had been since November.


I would have guessed that you still play BF2 months later because it's one of the best multiplayer and most popular multiplayer games to come out in years and not because of the stats.

Then again, while we're raving on about all this- it is always possible to actually join an unranked server to play an unfettered game of BF2 relatively free from hacks and cheats.

unranked servers/mods = teh fun but thats ususaly playing with a clan or something.

I would have guessed that you still play BF2 months later because it's one of the best multiplayer and most popular multiplayer games to come out in years and not because of the stats.

Of course, it's one of the best games ever, but for me the stats add to the total enjoyment.

I'd probably still play but not nearly as much as I do now. I'd prolly play more of my old RTS games n such. I like the stats system because it gives me something to try for. I don't care how other people use it, which is why you'll never hear me bitching about ranks padding or whatever.

I'd still play. If BF2 had a more effective custom map delivery system (such as you join a server and you automatically get the map) and there was no point system, not only would the game be purely for fun, but more people would play custom maps.

I'd still play anyway, didnt even know there was a individual point system in BF 2, BF at all, before I got this game. The only other BF series that I played before this was BFV, which we know does not have a individual point system.

Of course. I say eff the points. However, I do like how it keeps track of the total # of kills etc. I look at it and think "whoa, I killed that many people?" It adds a little something.
