Would you play without individual points ?

Maybe this has been suggested before, but I'm curious. Would you play BF2 if you did not get individual points ? There have been lots of complaints about haxxing & particular tactics from players, but why do they do this ? To get points for themself ! Now imagine that when you play you don't get points awarded to you individually, not even to a clan (cause some clans cheat), but points go to your country. I've been playing TrackMania:Nations and seeing their ladder, it has rankings for each country (I know they have individual players scores as well, but ignore that). If you played & your score only contributed to your country's score, would anyone bother to cheat or just play in a style to get points for them ? You can still have player awards, medals etc for great personal achievment.

Think about it, thats how real wars work. Individual soldiers dont win a war, countries win wars. So why not make BF like this & stop all the selfish players just out to get points. Dunno if there is a FPS that plays like this, anyone know ?

I'd still play. If BF2 had a more effective custom map delivery system (such as you join a server and you automatically get the map) and there was no point system, not only would the game be purely for fun, but more people would play custom maps.

i wouldnt, it would become like BFV and that gets boring hear you can run around with your uber 1337 unlocks and ranks, lol. but i do like checking my stats for badges and such.

        I'd still play.

Sure, I LIKE the stats system, but I could certainly live without it.

It probably IS the cause of a lot of the problems we're seeing. But remember, cheating and abuse is rampant on lots of other games that have no formal stats tracking system.

          I wouldn't play either.
Honestly, the only reason I'm still playing BF2 is 2 fold.

          1) Holding out for the patch to see if it fixes the game
          2) Working on goals in the stat system.

I'd keep playing, because I play for fun, rather than badge-hounding.

Well, I agree that Hackers and cheaters do it for point but there'd still be there even with such a system. They would then cheat for the sake of owning everybody. But i'd still play i guess. I played both games before bf2 so why not.

I would still play, but the idea of non individual points is plane stupid, team shares his points, you get more whoring and stuff then you have now, this because you can't help the fact there are noobs on your team, and your team lost the round or whatever, the other team just setles them nicely in the base and baserape the whole time, nice , they got nice points, you get nothing, fun factor zero

This does happen, but what I was suggesting was your "team" would be your entire country. You would not get to choose what team you play for, and in most countries you would have a good mix of n00bs and good players. I'd love to play for either a UK or England only team and score for them rather than myself. OK your limited to how many players from your country are online at any one time, this would have to be balanced somehow.

This can happen regardless of how the game is scored, its down to level design. Having at least 2 uncappable bases per team, placed apart on the map could solve this.

Points going to your country? That is stupid and unfair. Not all the countries have 300 milion or more people and therefore a lot of players. There are coutries with total population of million or two, maybe only few BF2 players.

Re: Would you play without individual points ?

There would obviously have to be some sort of balancing/handicap system to balance it out. If country X has 1,000,000 players & country Y has 2,000,000 players then country X players points are worth 2 of country Y points.

                          Timezones kinda stop this.

The badges and the ranks add new meaning to the game. Without the points, the ranks, the awards, I would've stopped playing this game after the first 2 weeks, just like most of the other games. Instead, it's been 7 months and I'm still playing. PLaying for fun only, not for points becomes boring very fast. This way the points you are after create the challenge and the fun.

                              Yeah i would
The badges etc were fun for like a week for the "wow, smth new"-factor and indiv. points upto 8K for unlocks. After that i've been playing for the team or trying out new tactics for ****s and giggles.
