    Re: Basecamping, please explain

    First, it's a game!

Second, If i want to play as a sniper and go and kill pilots, who by the way will soon be 'baseraping' themselves, so what? That is what a sniper is for!

Third, I don't like baseraping, if I have succumbed in a moment of alcohol induced weakness I always feel as if the points I got were......cheap...you know?

    Fourth, it's a game!

Fifth, I always obey the server rules and I expect others to do the same. So if they have a don't rape rule then don't!

What ARE you on about anyway? if an enemy tank comes to your flag to capture (you must be referring to a cappable flag), and you spawn in front of it... you think the Tank should say 'sorry' and step out of the way?
      .
Dude, i think all the players know where enemy`s players will respawn, so enemy tank knows where he can rape the base so no one get to him. So if i respawn front of the enemy`s tank, then i cant go to other flag to capture it, can i.
We talking about base raping the flag point which cant be captured.Otherwise it would not be a problem, would respawn elsewhere

This is where the virtue of patience should kick in. Don't spawn there, and if your team has any notion of teamwork, just try to communicate a little bit to have something done about it. However, no one can help you if your whole team prefers to do their own thing or if your commander really can't give a stuff...

You can only be so lucky to be landed on a good team. Yes, I agree- spawn-camping is very irritating; but whilst nothing is done about it, I suppose we'll have to cope until something IS done about it. I do believe that AT kit should be tweaked so that their missiles don't just do so little damage per shot. It should at least half the tanks HP.

Also, try to be a little bit more coherent in your threads no matter how angry or frustrated you are.

Sometimes I am confused at how people intepret basecamping is. It is killing people who just spawn at their non cappable base. So killing them is cheap as they are defenseless. Ok... When I play Ghost Town (SF map..Sorry to the people who haven't bought SF) , there is aa base defence threat from the Russian base. I fly towards them and kill all the people in the AA radius in a dive bombing style and I ended up getting kicked for "violating no basecamping rule" . WTF is that supposed to mean? Can't I pre empt threat? Just my experience

Well, the admin probably had a quick look and saw the kills at the uncap base as base-camping even though you're in helicopter. Accidents happen. All you can do is move to another more lax server.

In the case that the Admin was on the opposing side, and couldn't take being owned by an enemy pilot grounding their air-assets. Then... well Twats happen. Just move onto a better server with no twats for admins.

I was in a helicopter not in an aircraft. Ghost Town and in fact Special Forces has no flyable jets. Telling this to avoid confusion.

                You know what I mean.
Helicopters fly- so it would be logic to also count them as aircraft- even if BF2 doesn't think so in their control config options.

According to our rules you may do preemtive strikes on actual threats. I.e. you may destroy a manned AA emplacement but you aren't allowed to kill a jet taking off. The use of bombs combined with less than pin point accuracy is a gamble. I suggest you use the cannon for dealing with AA near bases. That way you have your bombs left and it's more unlikely that you'll be kicked for raping.

EDIT: OK you were in a helo. Did you kill anyone outside the sandbags?

i dont think base camping is that bad, as long as you give the other team a chance, not c4ing the spawn point

I don't see anything wrong with basecamping and killing pilots waiting for the jet to respawn. As a commander I enjoy seting the artillery on those 4,5 people pushing eachother at the jet respawn point. If you don't kill them, either they'll spend the next half and hour killing you and your troops over and over and not giving you fair chance, or they'll keep ramming their jet into your choppers and tanks, depending how good they can shoot. So I say kill them and and make them mad while they are on the ground, or they'll be anoying you for the rest of the round.

playing Dragon Valley yesterday as US, from the start we got pinned back to the US main, heli, apcs, tanks sat outside, on numerous occasions there were yelps of base rape/camp.

I managed to sneak out several time, create a squad and hide out in the Chinese base, spamming request reinforcements... Did they come? no they continued to moan about base rape...

govedod..I totaly agree with you. Jet and heli is unfair, and they dont give grounded forces any slack. A jet/ heli can shoot/bomb/ rocket me all day, we are about defenceless agains them.. so my chance to pay back is to kill them before entering the flytoy.
..but the everlasting problem is that this is (in the eye of the pilot) imoral/ cheat/ n00b etc.
                          Well I dont think so.

I personally belive that preventing the enemy from taking off by infiltrating a squad to the enemy base is a viable tactic. If you have a problem with it then send a squad to defend their interests. Instead of saying well you cant do this because we are to unorganized or lazy to defend our base.

Usually when me and my buddies play BF2 we are one of the few on our team doing anything viable. Everytime we leave a flag it gets captured, most of the time if a flag is captured and held for more than a few mins it is because we decided to defend it.

Almost all helos I've come across are easy to down if you have the right equipment. A jeep will take down an attack helo in about eight seconds. Most helo pilots thinks flying in a straight line, hovering or flying at a low altitude is a good idea and are pretty easy to shoot down with AT. If you are complaining because you can't down a helo with your assault rifle then go away, please. All you need is a jeep or two AT rounds.

I think it's very unbalanced to be standing on a grenade when the fuse is down to .5 seconds. You have no chance to get away. Remove grenades please.

Makes sence, I'll find servers that have rules that allowes me to play my way. After all I do not pay for the servers. But I still feel that in order to run ranked servers it should not allow for "on the fly" rules. I do not know the criteria to run ranked but I guess it has some regulations to it?
I go on all ranked servers and play however I want. I think no purposeful tk'ng is the only rule that should be enforeced.

Anyother rules are IMHO a violation of their ranked status agreement. Yes they pay to rent the server. So what? I pay yearly for my car tags. Doesn't mean I can invent my own rules of the road. The beauty of BF2 is that the rules are inherent in it's gameplay. The stage is set. Adapt or die.

Ranked servers should choose the map, choose the rounds, choose the tickets, but shouldn't choose my style of play. If they choose to ban me for it (I've only been banned once by the way) then I'll be glad to have one less team/rule stacking clan server, with self serving, double standard rules to play on.
