    Re: Basecamping, please explain

definitions vary depending on who writes the rules for the server, because of its broad definition most rules CLEARLY state what they accept and what they don't. If you are in doubt about the rules, ask an admin, if you can't/don't want to find an admin then you'll run the risk of being kicked/banned.

There are NO written global rules in the game, theres only the EULA which really only defines what you can/cant do with the code and all other "rules" are enforced by the game code itself (losely defined as hacking/cheating).

The only other written rules you "have" to abide by are those of the server you're playing on at the time, those differ from server to server.

Thanks for explaining the borders of the UCB's, wilco.
The rest of your reply is out of topic but I agree, baseraping is lame.

      @Izac73
      you funny.

      @Princess_Frosty
Makes sence, I'll find servers that have rules that allowes me to play my way. After all I do not pay for the servers. But I still feel that in order to run ranked servers it should not allow for "on the fly" rules. I do not know the criteria to run ranked but I guess it has some regulations to it?

I think in a wargame where the objective is to reduce your opponents tickets to 0, you should be able to do by any means possible. I think intentional tking is the only thing a person can really do that is wrong. Just my opinion.

TKing can't be wrong if you're better than the person you TK. If you TK for a vehicle that is.

              Re: Basecamping, please explain

Any rules EA want to set upon ranked servers they would force in the game code, writing things down and expecting people to do them isn't going to work, theres no way to regulate it.

What would be better is simply not base camping to the extreme, no one actually benefits from one team smashing the other into the ground, in fact you probably get LESS points for doing so, let the enemy take back a few flags and scrap over them again, more points for both sides, an actual BATTLE rather than a pummeling and overall everyone should have a good game.

Ending the round early by smashing your opponent so far into the ground that they can never get back up just isnt sporting, which is why a LOT of server simply will not allow extreme base raping, wheter its denial of artilery or all out no base camping rules.

Have a bit of respect and try and play like a game not like an actual war, try and keep it even and balanced. After all if this was a REAL war which was no holes barred, i'd come round and stab you in the eyes with a kitchen knife so you couldn't play anymore...

Ok that was a little extreme, but you get my point right?

base camping and base raping is part of the game. We do not react to people complaining about being camped/raped unless the teams are very unbalanced.

If you're on the recieving end, it requires teamwork to get out of the situation and recover a flag.

If the opponent team has an uncaptureable flag/mainbase, make sure to stay out of it. Killing and/or stealing/destroying vehicles in the area of an uncaptureable flag will most likely get you kicked or banned from the server (this includes artillery firing). You may as Spec-Op of course take out the enemys artillery or radarstations and defend yourself while doing so, but once that is done, get out of the area as quickly as possible. Even if a team has control of all the flags they are not entitled to baserape, keep a clear distance and start defending your flags instead.

I like the way your rules are clearly spelled out. I have been on servers that say one thing and do another. I have been kicked and banned for taking a cappable flag and killing people as they spawned up. I guess next time I will wait till they shoot at me then I will return fire. I guess that would make it more realistic, at least when you are playing as the Marines.

That would be your opinion. As far as the game, there are no rules for this. It up to the admin to determine what they want.

                        Re: Basecamping, please explain

IMHO the only time basecamping/raping is unacceptable is when its the uncapable, AND its the last base. Wait outside of the base and kill them as they come out fine, but at least give them time to orient and get in any vehicles in the base in that situation. Otherwise all bets are all.
People complain about armor raping bases by not immediately running in and capping the flag. However that is suicide as armor without infantry support.

As for snipers camping. Thats part of the game. Its what snipers do. As long as you arent sitting with the crosshairs on a spawn point, I dont see the problem.

                          Re: Basecamping, please explain

Our server rules state there is no perma spawn camping unless there are no other bases available.

Meaning - you can go sit in any cappable base and camp to your hearts content...but at the main uncap base, you should only be there to get in and get out. If you kill a couple people on your way to steal a jet, or blow up the commander assets - so be it. You better not be an AT or sniper just watching one of the spawn pts.

If you manage to cap all other flags and force them to the one uncap - then go in there and camp them all you want - they deserve to go down if they could not cap anything else. Yes - even in karkand with the US starting with one flag. They have 3 places to spawn and can easily get away and start rolling flags from the back of the map forward.

It requires strategy and teamwork to get out of a camped flag, but it can be done.

The reason for us having the no perma spawn unless others are unavailable rule is to keep the game more interesting and fair for everyone. The last thing you want is a group of people running super computers spawning in first, racing to the perma spawn and covering every spawn so the enemy cannot even move 1ft without being killed.

I guess a better way to do this would be to put a delay on the start of the game so everyone would get in at the same time. Then again, some people with slow machines take 3-5 minutes to get in the game, other people 30-45 seconds. Hard to justify the long start delay for just a couple pokeys who have slow machines.

Base caping/Base raping is unacceptable. And if you think it is normal then you must be an i*iot. If you respawn front of the enemy`s tank then how the phuck you supposed to get any flag? Its not a skill to shoot respawning infrantry with a bombshell. It`s ok if enemy`s Sniper is near the main base in somekind of bush.
Anyway EA\Dice should fix it by patch. If enemy tank/plane is getting too close to enemys main base, then server should kill him (No more ...)

I'd say a kill is a kill- and what you're doing is what some would call a strategy to keep planes and helos grounded - after all, airpower is quite a threat in BF2. Of course pilots are fuming- because most of them forget how to fight on the ground because they're obsessed with their air-asset.

Ranked servers don't really have any standard rules- hey, some ranked servers seem to be for whores or campers or hacks and cheats only. I once jumped on an Internode map... and a guy kept telling everyone it's knife only :P... looks like someone was obsessed with getting their knife combat badge. Some people who blew into the server just kept playing it their own way. So it turned into a normal game anyway. I'd call them pricks for not following the protocol set, but unfortunately- there weren't any RULES set, and just playing with knives got a little boring and arduous.

Yeah, but destroying enemy air-assets with your own air assets is also a strategy really- it prevents enemy air-assets from being operational (once again). Sure it will seem cheap, but if you think about it, it's the same as snipers 'camping'... but it's just what they do. And if a jet or helo has nothing to do at the time, what better than to contribute to the team than keeping the enemy on the ground?

Plus... when you respawn in front of enemy's tank... no, you won't get any flag... obviously.
BUT if you respawn BEHIND enemies tank, then maybe you have a chance.
What ARE you on about anyway? if an enemy tank comes to your flag to capture (you must be referring to a cappable flag), and you spawn in front of it... you think the Tank should say 'sorry' and step out of the way?

Hey, I had a vote to kick me once because I commanded my team to steal enemies vehicles. I told them (after we'd stolen most of their vehicles) that it's a strategy (and it was, because USMC BH was too much on Mashtuur). Almost everyone agreed.

Base-Camping happens, and some ranked servers have rules clearly stating that uncappable-base-camping/raping is not allowed unless it is the last point. What I REALLY won't tolerate is hacks and cheats.
