I've found judging TK's as on purpose or on accident MUCH easier since I messed with my localization files. Now whenever I get TK'ed, it says what weapon did the deed. When you see that you got TK'ed by a M95, you know that the person is an idiot, and NEEDS to get punished. This is opposed to being killed by a grenade. Chances are, it wasn't on purpose.

When it comes to tk punishing my policy is (as it is with a lot of things) never say never and never say always.

Punishing everyone because you've been punished is just stupid and the people who do it know it. Maybe the person who punished YOU was on the same campgain. At the same time, appeasing intentional tkers is just as bad even though you probably mean well. It's called "punishing" for a reason, meaning it should be dealt out to those who deserve it, but not to those who haven't done anything wrong. A truely decent person (not someone who takes revenge on the world because they aren't smart enough to figure out how to get back at a specific person) will write down their name, and then go vigilante on them.

Most of the people who accidently tk are the real teamplayers. (because they are, for example, planting mines around an important base instead of doing a tk-free-but-totally-useless-to-your-team-activity such as sniping an area where you're friendlies have no ability to get to because you're not willing to take a flag while your team bleeds tickets)

i will forgive people if in my judgement it was accidental, or if they say sorry. saying sorry means a lot!

I just forgive no matter if its intentional or not, its just a game, who in the hell would slip a "punish" feature into something that is supposed to be fun? It was very annoying starting with the demo. People would run in front of your jet and you get punished for the first time and i dunno, dont you feel dirty?:laugh:

I was kinda speaking in past tense, when really people still run in front of the damn jets

Maybe I'm too meek for my own good, and puglous that was a pretty good post, but I don't see a problem with forgiving the potential TKers that do so purposefully. Sometimes it's best to turn the other cheek, but that's a difference of opinion.

I used to forgive for everything but obvious TKing.

But being the idiots 90% of the BF2 players are they punish me for EVERY SINGLE TK I MAKE!

So, I will say it now... I ALWAYS punish unless I know you.

or if he tked himself also it was prob an accident - forgave -

if he apologizes- forgave -

if i look at his score and it is already negative, or is being extremly stupid and "noobish", or if i know it was not an accident - punish -

Punishing is pretty bad. I was playing with a friend the other day, I accidently TK'ed him, and he insta-punished.

I said over teamspeak... 'You do realise you have just punished me, don't you?'

'Oh crap, sorry, I always punish TKs.'

After that,... he rethought his approach.

I never punish. Done that since June 05. Must lead by example.
But I have punished the odd person who put a stop to my 15 kills in 10 seconds, rambo rampage.

I will never forgive an intentional tk and will always retaliate. Accidentals are different and if it truly was an accident a quick sorry is nice. I reallly dont know why it matters though, it doesnt change the loss of points and what happened, wargamers are so sensitive.

I'll always forgive a tk unless it was blatantly intentional or if it's a jet that keeps bombing his own teamates over and over again so I forgive the 1st two times but on the 3rd I punish. My friend on the other hand punishes pretty much everybody,he even used to punish me for tks sometimes,lol. I always keep telling him that it's stupid and immature to punish for everything and now he still punishes for a lot of stuff but he forgives much more than he used to.

The funniest is when the pilot crashes the heli or plane but the gunner gets the TK and the pilot punishes!

I've punished people I would've otherwise forgiven simply because they punished me earlier in the round, so people definitely do that.

Frankly, I'm surprised DICE hasn't done the obvious solution to the punish problem. That is, of course, remove the "You were punished for a team kill." notification.
