I read through about half of this drivel and am just going to post my comments

1) Women play an active, important role in combat. For most western armies, that means logistical support bascially, and there are plenty of female pilots I believe.

2) However (again in most western armies), women are never or almost never deployed as front line infantrymen (infantrywomen, whatever) or as members of special forces combat teams. (contrary to every stupid hollywood movie where there is always a token girl on the good guys team for some reason)

I'm not sure about the US military's stance on this, but I have also heard a substancial amount of evidence that states that women make just as good if not better snipers than men, but I'm not tottaly sure of it.

For now, if you want female character models, play EOD when it comes out.

I doubt DICE/EA would devote the time necesarry to do this, when they can just throw out crappy little booster packs that everyone will gobble up even if they suck.

I don't think BF2 would do females very well.... because in the USMC, we have a black guy model and a white guy model.... and both have the same set of voice commands... which is really dumb. This would be much worse with a female...

Okay.... Its not like you can see yourself in an FPS anyway, so whats the big deal? Do girls want everyone else to see that there is a girl playing or something? I don't see the significance. Maybe make a model that has white lace gloves holding the gun, or a big engagement ring on the finger, painted nails.... I just don't see the reason you'd go through all the trouble to make (lets say 1,000 out of 1,000,000 players happy).

realism may not be a issue to most but it would look really silly with girls in it and seeing as the number girls who play fps is tiny there is no real incentive to do it.

There are significantly more male US Marines than there are female, so I don't see why it's a problem. Anyway, BF2 doesn't try to be hugely realistic.

I wouldn't turn down BF2 if all the models were female, so I don't see why it should make any difference anyway. The developers can do whatever they please.

You people havent identified WHY women arent allowed to take those combat missions.

It's simple, genetically males respond to high pitched cries the same way, whether they're from a woman, a child or from an animal. It takes a special sort of person to casually disregard their base instincts; which brings me to my point.

In RL, people are getting peppered and blown to bits, the last thing you need is to have your squad/platoon of 6 lose focus because the woman in your squad bites the dust. Spell disaster? Yes.

Alternatively you Politically Correct (hereinto referred by the term "PC") schmucks aren't considering the mental impact.

You are agreeing that its completely ok to kill a man (yaaaaay, murder!) but its wrong to kill a woman, even if she's pointing a gun in your face?

Yes, women are in the military, we've established that. This thread is just going in circles, people stating that it's unrealistic, or that people would do disgusting things with the model. We all know that EA tried to base the game on realism, but they eventually went into the 'fun' portion.

As I stated earlier, if you were to email EA/DICE, you would most likely get a reply similar to my earlier one (see page 2), which would state that women on the battlefield are never within firefights; as well as the women are only given tasks that support the military branch from the rear. Meaning; cooking, repairs, medical aid. Therefore if ever implemented into the game, women would have to stay back at an uncapturable base where enemies cannot get into [no matter what], as well as only allowing the character to be a medic/engineer. They character then would not be able to leave the base and would be stuck there.

I know what females on the battlefront do, I was a Marine, as well as my sister too.

This game isn't based on realism, of course, we've figure that out, but the basics of the game are based upon fictional story lines made by EA/DICE. Since this is a fictional game, EA/DICE will never have to feel obligated to create a female model for the game, mainly because they made the game, and they can do what they want with it.

If you want to play as a female soldier, make your own game, or make your own mod for BF2. If you don't know how to, I suggest you learn. I've seen far too many threads about the addition of female models into games, but no one has the hard facts to back up their wants. I'm a man, if I were to play barbie, or some other game with a primary female protagonist, I wouldn't make a big fuss to change it to a man. Mainly because when I bought the game I had already known the main character would be a female, so there wouldn't be anything I could do. Therefore, when you ladies bought the game, you should have known that it dealt with war; therefore, you should have realised that women are not allowed on the frontlines and been okay with that.

Grr... It aggrivates me when people post ideas without realising the considerable effects that it may have, or the fact that it wouldn't work well.

Easy patch? WTF are you on? You realize that you're asking for double the player model count, plus double all the voices, right? We're talking about a major chunk of content here.

Yeah, I'm sure EA would be easily presuaded to spend the money on 40 new player models (that 5 kit models for each army including those in SF), new motion capture, AND new voice acting, then add the 250 some megs worth of content to a patch...

No problem!

That, my friends, is a stupid expectation.

I said only the medic should be female. thats only 1 skin. and itd make more medics on the battlefield from all the horny teanagers wanting to play as a girl

Well first off if EA did put female skins into the game, they would have 1,234,645 lawsuits against them for "Violence Against Women".

well i dont have a problem with it i mean to be honest who cares and the 80 percent electronics i think that more men than women who buy bf2. i think the game shopuld keep going people moaning all the time and then would it be say the asult kit for the navy seals is a women becuase women dont fight in the navy seals and many men would find it worse to be playing as a women

If this keeps up over the long run, sooner or later Transexuals and Homosexuals are going to begin to protest, " Why don't we have fair representation in this game!? We play it too!?".

This political correctness needs to die. If women aren't intitially included in the games release, it's not somthing that should really be pursued. It adds " NO " extra gameplay elements, it just allows women to see women in the game for the sake of women seeing women and having women in the game. Waste of time. Just enjoy the game for what it is and quit trying to make everything "Politically" correct.
