Re: BF:MMOFPS - Would you play? More importantly, pay?

I posted the exact same thing a few months back in these forums and people where saying it won't happen!

If that is what you think you are incredibly short sighted!!!

If you think technology is an issue... you are thinking too much short term!
This isn't comming out next year but would be years in the future.
If not for BF3... BF4 for sure!

A company as already shown to be able to broadcast HD video on the net so this wouldn't even be as much of an issue... all you need is time for people to get faster machines!

Look at the amount of hours a month people are playing BF2!!

The typical playability of a game is 40 to 60 hours... what is the average for BF2? 200 hours probably... with some going on a 1000 hours!

So even with a monthly fee people would be getting their money's worth... the gaming alternative would all be more expensive!
For the replayability what we get with BF2 someone else would need to buy a new game a month to not get board and play as many hours...

And at the end of the day... gamming is a business!
And you can be sure, don't even have any doubts about this, that execs at EA are already salivating over this ideal! They won't admit it but they are investing in the franchise now and just waiting for the technology to catch up!

      Not a friggen chance.

I hate pay-to-play.Especially when games like Guild Wars has shown that very large on-line games can be handled without having to fall back to that model.

I'm much happier with the current BF2 model of putting out extra content for extra support dollars. Then you have a choice. Are those toys worth the money? You deside.

Also, you can't mod for pay to play games. That alone is enough to remove my interest. Add on the fact that for about the same money, I could be playing a new game every month or so and I will simply NEVER purchase a pay to play game.

No, I refuse to pay for any extra monthly fees for any games. I think fees are excessive, especially when you still end up paying for expansion packs... and a monthly fee for an FPS would be even worse... it lacks the depth of an RPG... it's possible if a company wanted to put the effort to add roleplaying elements and sprawling countries with missions and things.

I would not do it. I dont play MMOs because I dont agree with the idea of making a profit more than once on a single game. So long as personal servers can be made theres no justifyable reason beyond greed to demand a monthly fee.

The only way I would possibly even begin to consider it would be if it was so insanely entertaining that my TV would be pointless.

Im a college student, theres no way I could justify something like that.

I would buy and pay to play it, but only if EA was not connected to it.

By the looks of how they treat their customers, I would not pay monthly for a game which would problably crash 20 times before I get it to work, and then they crash their entire server net.

To the guy who thinks he knows a lot, pfft.

this type of gameplay is a scam, in one year's time, u have paid $180 for a virtual game u dont own.

No f*cking way. Monthly payment for a game is not an option to me.
It's already bad enough with game pricing as is.

The game design ideas listed there (waiting lists, limited class numbers, level whoring required, etc) sound totally horrible aswell.

                      No, no, no and NO.

The game sucks way too much.
I wouldn`t pay for this crap.

i think a 250 player server would suffice. the best part of BF is how you can just jump into a relatively organized battle whenever. add some more people, bigger maps, and a bit more organization and it'd be even better.

I dont want to pay a monthly fee to play...No mods in that...I could only imagine the asshats this would recruit into the BF series.... Although it would be cool perhapes they take some points from it and blend it with the current type of FPS...like home bases etc more clan/team oriented...

I think the current BF2 is as close to a MMOFPS that I would want...although The idea of having like alliances and teams that set up at a "ghost base" and useing an intuitve in game chat system...much like say generals online..people could organize intiate battles etc.

OMG imagine an MMOFPS how much would it cost to get a tank...and would you then have to pay for fuel...that could get crazy....

Its funny listening to all you guys whinning... this isn't about whether you want it or not!

Don't you guys know anything about business!

Even if just a third of the community would go for it, it would be more profitable!
Who knows they might branch the brand out to two different style of play/game but since this option is the most profitable it is the more likely and would be the most heavily supported.

Don't you guys understand that the cost of these new games or going through the roof!
You have a choice of how you spend your entertainment money...

Montly cable fees... many of us in the future would probably cut that for some BF since you can get most good shows on the net or on DVDs anyway!

How much did you use to spend going to the movies each month!?

Tell me how can you get more for you money than let's say a $9.99 BF fee for 20 hours of entertainment per month!!!!!!!!
