My and my clan members already pay like 10-20 bucks a month for our servers a piece. So I don't see why not. Plus I've played a lot of MMOs in the past. So sure, if this was a good game I'd definetly pay to play.

I think it would be a sweet possibility. many people think it not possible becuase the data being transfered but planet side did it and even EVE is pretty close to a fps. planetside for the time had the best graphics and even still has awesome graphics and manages to pull it off. and reason EA has laggy servers is becuase they put 10 or more servers on 1 box to make as much money as possible. but if it was to made i have to say that they shouldnt do a point or rank system becuase then people would spam and camp just to get points like they do already becuase for some reason the points mean more then the objective. its a problem with most fps like counterstike bf series and many others.

I think this would be a really nice idea, but I wouldn't pay 20 dollars though... Just imagine it... Battles taking place everywhere, Rank Structure etc... Would be really cool

No they didn't , they did something, but it is far from popular, why ? because it's so basic, I am talking about games like BF , not some ugly looking crap with less features then shooting a gu or two

Actually Planetside is pretty complex, and had a "Commander" feature (CR-5) long before BF2. You obviously have no idea what you're talking about, so it might be best for you to stop talking altogether.

Planetside is actually quite popular amongst those who know about it - but Sony never markets it.

They also implemented a model for adding expansions that blows BF2's out of the water.

No game is worth paying monthly to play. Especially not BFXX. Can you imagine paying the initial fee, then the monthly fees, and then the fees for the (lame) expansion and booster packs? Rediculous...

I think there's a customer-sensitive way to do it. Monthly fee'd games are immensely popular, so there's clearly a formula that works.

What if the game was free to download? What if it was only $10? What if a $15 expansion was given to players who had been subscribed for 12+ consecutive months, as a loyalty gesture?

There are TONS of ways to slice it up. If a monthly fee meant crazy-attentive support, new content (some free, some not), constant tweaking and community involvement, then I would absolutely pay.

Expansion packs would be few an far between as the new content would just be unlocked as time goes on, and booster pakcs would come in the form of patches.

I don't know about the expansions being few and far between, many MMO's have lots of expansions. I also don't think we should have to pay for patches (which is what the monthly fees would mostly go to, as well as server upkeep). It encourages sloppy coding, as they will release things and plan to optimize it later (sounds too familiar already).

                              In theory yes I would.

Being as I am really looking forward to Huxley, which isn't too far off what a MMOBF would be, I think I'd very happy seeing the Battlefield franchise go in this direction.

Re: BF:MMOFPS - Would you play? More importantly, pay?

I use to play MMORPG's. Then I found myself spending more and more time playing games and less time paying attention to Real Life. I finally decided I had to stop playing MMORPG's.

I picked up BF42 after that. It was great to be able to jump into the action in a matter of seconds. I didn't have to worry about being online for hours at a time or waiting forever for a certain event to happen or wandering around doing boring stuff trying to raise my stats. It was nice to be able to play for 30 minutes here and there, then walk away without ever thinking about it.

Of course, BF2 came along and with it's slow load times, server authentification and constant shader optimizations and my ability to feed my need with instant gratification started fading. I won't even go into the whole carrot on a stick, stats thing.

My answer is not no. It is HELL no!
