Err, what's this weapon? New unlock found on <<R2>> server! ;)

I was playing on the fantastic R2 clan server just now, only to discover a strange new weapon! :laugh:

What on EARTH is a "maverick wire"? Anyone know, come across it before or anything?

(p.s. wow, lots of TKs at that instant. Oh, and yes, I know it's not really a new unlock. Just a joke.)

Perhaps it is the wireguided missle on the chopper. If you shoot something and then bail out of the vehicle the actual weapon shows up. I think.

It's worth noting this was on Kubra, so it wasn't a zipline or anything.

Ooh, interesting idea here. In fact-don't some US jets in real life have missiles called 'Mavericks'? Dunno, I'm going to sleep so I'm not going to hit google up. But with the TV missile on the chopper or the laser missile in the jet sounds probable...

Just thought I'd post it up. 180 hours of playing and I'd never seen it before.

Well its got me stuffed and didn't see that come up. There's one way to find out download the BR and see.

I was in the cobra on the USMC and the MI-28 on MEC so I dunno. For the most part I was flying too so that's got me beat, never heard of it.

Its from the AGM-65 "Maverick" on the F15 (Co-pilots weapon)

You must of edited your localization file so that maverick wire would show up.

Since it's no where in the localization file, yet, it's in the kill displays.

Here is my theory.

HKS dropped mines or a claymore, and an enemy hit them while he was using the TV guided missile. Thus, he got credit for killing with whatever he happened to be using. We've seen this before with other things, like the guns on the MiG.

You can actually change the names of the weapon for instance, i had my M95, set to "n00b-ejected" so when i would kill someone with it, it would say.. "Nexar n00b-ejected <<R2>>CaptHKS" However, it only shows me the message. For everyone else its M95.

I forgot what file you change it in, but you can.

You are all wrong so far. Here's some hints after watching the BR (still not sure myself about to watch it for the 2nd time)

I was USMC flying the cobra, no co-pilot and its not from the tv guideds. I didn't die or bail out either.

I'll let you know if I work it out.

There was a thread along time ago about this, so its not a localization file.

The Maverick wire is the missile on the F-15 plane.
Just like the F-35b has mk81 bombs... and the APC has a "25MMGUN"

yea..it just showed the kill with the weapon used and not the actual vehicle like normal. I've seen this a few times with the tank and "120mm gun" and "co-axial mg"
