I think the F-35 is a better and more fun plane to fly than the Mig in BF2.

          I second that.

That way we might get possession of ALL the planes while you have none or just one that is being bombed into oblivion.

Re: USMC lamers who fly to MEC airfield, bail out, and steal MEC jet

I agree with the original poster. I think it's lame to use that tactic to steal the opponents jet, or helo prior to both sides actually being in game. Some have said it's a legit tactic but all that means is it's not against the rules to do. Noone ever said it was against the rules or bannable, just that it's lame. The best games are the ones that have some semblence of parity between the teams. Lately it seems I am finding games where one side coordinates very well while the other side spawns as all snipers. The name of the game is capping and holding flags. When one side totally overpowers the other, it's no more fun than the single player game. As mad as I get at plane whores, I was on a Kubra Dam game today where the USMC had managed to have all 3 attack helos and all but one jet. I kept tabbing to look at the players on teams wondering what exactly half my team was doing in the game? I died a quick 4 times at the only uncapped base then the game ended at 200 -0 yeeeaaaahhh what fun. Disconnect.

I never mind losing. I don't mind running around in whatever job my team needs, I do mind a complete blowout from either side. What I really need to do is find a mature clan to join so I can be sure to find at least a few people that understand a good game takes teamwork, not 16 guys running doing their own thing.

It's legit in terms of "all's fair in love and war." It's not very honorable though. Honorable players prefer a fair fight.

This can be one of the worst thinmgs can happen in a game.
Once I was playing MEC in Gulf Of Oman. The USMC guys stole both of the jets: The fighter and the bomber.
It was a very terrible game. we could not play for a minute. I just left the game later.

Personally I believe that DICE should make the game such that you cannot get in the enemy's tanks/choppers/jets/APCs. this will keep the game balanced and fun for everyone... it is also more realistic.

I agree Black Duck. It's completely unrealistic. However, many people here have stated how they like this feature in the game so I think it would be unfair to have this changed to fit our opinion.

What you can do however is download and play the Project Reality mod. In PR you are no longer able to enter "advanced" enemy vehicles. This includes planes, choppers, tanks and APCs. You may still use jeeps and trucks. Many other changes include infantry weapons which are accurate and deadly, MH-6 little bird, selectable tank ammunition types, tank and apc zoom, realistic sounds, AT weapons which work, AA missles work plus much, much more. If you are craving something a little more real from your BF2 experience, you will love PR. It's free and won't effect your ability to play regular BF2. Re: USMC lamers who fly to MEC airfield, bail out, and steal MEC jet

Wrong- a MiG holds distance because its considerably slower than F35 and somewhat slower than F18. You dont lock on from the distance, if youre using the missiles its in either of these two cases.
                            1) You have snuck up behind him and now ram these missiles into him with the lucky lock-on.
                            2) The target is escaping and youre forcing him to make a sharp turn to catch up with him again. If he will continue with the shootable pattern, you THEN use the missiles. I have yet to see a pilot slow down just to geta missile lock.

An F35 holds distance to keep up with MiGs maneuvers.

A F35B flys past MiG in turns because of its higher speed. Consider this. Speed loss is for both of them in turns. They drop to around ~850~900. But the speed at which the MiG flys into that turn is also somewhere near ~900. But the speed at which the F35, when following, flys into a sharp turn after MiG is ~1000~1100 and therefore the gap between those two planes will decrease regardless of how the MiG will brake. IF, the F35B sees the MiGs brakes being deployed, he can react, but he needs distance to do that, and this is the key element in following the defender in its maneuvers.

You cannot machinegun an enemy jet down from a distance, and not close the distance.
You can do both, and its dont both. When the jet is in smoke, it really wont matter when youre using the MG because with that ROF youre bound to hit him. And when he realizes hes being followed and shot at, he will just make a sharp turn and you have a reduced distance once again.

Why? Because to be able to successfully lead the target, aim ahead of him, you have to fly a bit faster than him to tighten the turning circle.
Wrong. Many say that faster flight is smaller turn radius. Explain this- how can a F35B perform a full loop with the exact same time as the MiG while MiG is vastly slower at full afterburner speed? F35B has naturally a bigger turn circle, which is decreased only by lowering the speed and THEN applying the afterburner. Contrary to the common belief that max speed is what reduces maneuver time, its actually the effects of the afternburner that does it, and you can slow down to about 850 in turn and then afterburner yourself to increase the speed and keep up with the MiG. And you dont lead a target with the MG when the bullets are easy to dodge.

How? Bursts of afterburner, so that your crosshair is infront of him.
Scenario- F35B follows MiG. 10 and 13 second afterburner duration time respectively. If MiG pushes the AB, the F35B MUST do the same in order to stay in the MiGs flight corridor. No other way around it. Your "tip" applies to fighter vs bomber chase, not a fighter vs fighter chase.

MiG follows F35B. If the F35 will not do anything to keep the MiG as close as possible in its tight-turn maneuvers, it will all be just a waste of afterburner duration for the F35.

At which point, he just flips his jet, and turns the other way. What does tail do? Flip as well, and follow.
Same scenario. But since F35B has faster roll speed, he makes some quick rolls and turns in succession. Since Its faster, its roll speed is faster and its turn speed is the same as MiGs F35B will loose the MiG.

If F35 follows the MiG, if it has enough time to react, it will follow through MiGs fast rolls with relative ease. Keeping the distance is still upmost important.

Keep trying to close that gap and nail him.
You can never, never, ever close a gap in abovementioned scenario IF you will not force the F35B to make a sharp turn with the lockon.
~1450 Afterburner speed (increased vastly when flying straight up, or down) vs MiGs ~1060 is too high of a speed to make even, in level flight. As I said, lockon is the only way you can make a F35 get closer to you if it starts to gain distance.

What does lead do? Afterburner into a sharp turn, and suddenly hit the brakes. F35B tail flies by, because his "brakes" are the VTOL engines,
whereas the Mig has proper airbrakes that popout the top-back.
Fundamental flaw. Its not the efficiency of the brakes that make the F35B fly past the MiG. Its the faster speed in that particular turn, in which F35B will loose the MiG out of its view at a certain moment IF its too close.

What if, from a distance the F-35B sees your air brakes being deployed, it will wait for a certain speed at which your maneuverability wont be at its best, it then will missile and gun you out of the skies. Although playing with speed is important, all your efforts, all your maneuvers are useless when the tail keeps its distance. Usually he approaches to make a swipe. Lethal or not, thats up to the pilots skills.

With distance held, he can wear yoru afterburner down, he can have more time to learn your maneuvers. And most important, he can easily follow you through your maneuvers. With distance control, F35 becomes vastly superior to MiG because in most moments, F35 doesnt have to deploy its afterburner and can missile the MiG once its afterburners are depleted.

Works EVERY SINGLE time. You just have to wiggle and shake yer booty long enough that he has no/minimal afterburner left, otherwise, he'll just close the circle and gun you down midair.
With 2 second AB roll speed, a F35 can wiggle its booty far better than a MiG, but I agree, if you meant that it has to be unpredictable and seemingly turning anywhere within any given moment.

                            To sum this mess up.

F35 has to keep distance to follow MiG and not to overspeed in turns to fly past the MiG. MiG is vastly slower than F35. If F35 slows down and keep sits distance, the MiG will be shot out of the skies if it brakes down. And besides, every pilot will boost the AB as soon as that lockon warning starts ringing. Think it of a whip.

Absolutely, If throttle control is mastered, MiG really has zero advantages vs many, many disadvantages the F35 has. Unfortunately, most peope (even I) handle all the planes as if they were the same.

whew, that was a long one. one thing is for sure, if you arent an experienced pilot your chances of shooting down the jsf35 w/ an experienced pilot is limited. anyone with a joystick that has a variable throttle can set the throttle just above stall speed, while also keeping his left hand on the keyboard throttle. doing this can help you keep from stalling and dropping like a rock when chasing something slow or stationary. this also helps when chasing planes. i have had many in the mig slow down (almost imitating the cobra maneuver) in a steep climb, the jsf35 can slow down in time catch this maneuver. i just wish the jsf35 and others applicable had thrust vectoring. here is some footage of a mig fitted w/ t-v. i've seen footage of an f16 falcon fitted w/ it and it literally flew backwards in midair.

this site has many more vids to check out for flight enthusiasts.

I steal the MEC planes because its one less jet I have to get chased by, or if I can get the Su34, then i've got a bomber, and i can kill things much easier with 5 bombs than 2..

would you rather your team has 3 planes, or 2? or 4 vs 0 for that matter.. that rules.. i've taken a BH to go steal their planes with another guy and we each got one.. they had a bad round.
