EDIT: Listen to your surroundings to. If you get done capturing a spot, and you hear the artilerry firing, you have a good chance of getting raped by the blast, so once you hear those cannons fire, do yourself a favor and run away for approx. 30secs, and come back to recapture after the barrage.

Observation is among the rarest and least appreciated abilities in Battlefield.

The jets, I pester by justing locking on them and I may shoot twice and duck and hide for a while if they come back.

Yeah, even if you can't kill them, the AA can at least distract jet pilots. It's better than nothing. :p

Sometimes a friend of mine and myself will find a high spot in a map and just sit and watch people play, and enjoy the atmos..

The roar of jets flying by, the thwip of rotor blades, the tink of richoceting gunfire...and the whiz of shrapnel.

Can be quite enjoyable.

I often play with headphones for this reason. With a decent set you can really make out more sounds.

I've only been playing since December 31, 2005. I got bored - but then i discovered Commander. I like playing commander and still play as a regular grunt when there is no slot for the Commander position.

The game has its moments when it ****es me off. But i enjoy playing it. After all, it's just a game.

The bombers and heli used to bother me until I took action with the AA. I found a way to finally shoot those heli down and recieve two kills. I'm gald the pack is suppose to fix the AA, becasue it sure if fun getting a double kill or even a quaduaple kill.

I agree with that. Sometimes it's just locking on to them that is fun. I do it until they are out of range, I wait for the AA to re-arm, jump off, and move away from the site, enough not to receive splash damage.

Once I see him fly by, I jump back on hope for the best. 1 out of 20 times i will get a kill against a fighter/bomber, it normally happens once he drops his flares from someone else and is flying straight.

Excellent thread. A change from the usual garbage the plagues these halls. I agree. I have never gotten into a game as much as I've done with BF2.

Finally some thread about this game being good. Because it is a great game. Obviously, theyre is some issues to be resolved but overall its fun to play and ea/dice are doing a good job. And to all of those who are beetching about the next patch, well first wait until it comes out, play the damn game and if you dont like it, go play another game. Dont come here to whine about it.

I had thought we all pretty much agreed that it is a *great* game, albeit with minor annoyances.
For cinematic action, blood pumping, senses englulfing fun, you can't go wrong with BF2. I'd like to personally thank DICE for giving me hundreds of hours of fun.
What I like most is that there are so many things to 'keep your eyes on' in the game that you are always thinking and 'strategering'. Like the kill list, minimap, sounds, commands, voip, etc...

My girlfriend watches me play sometimes, when she's not working on her masters course, because she finds it awesome that I can fly around for 10minutes, get shot down, and am able to continue playing in a tank, jeep, as infantry, anything goes.

There is so much depth in how strategic this game is, as you said, with the mini-map, kill list and other key elements to the strategy of this game, it is by far the best and most complex game I can think of.

I'm a big fan of COD and WW2 based games, hell, I was even a fan of the BF Vietnam: POE mod, but I find that the UAV, scans, diff. classes and the way the game plays (like holding Q to spot an enemy) blows away the competition.

However, with any great game, comes great problems. It's all a matter of which are avoidable (killing the nade launchers before they shoot, not playing stupid when playing against great pilots, etc). everything else are problems we can play around, by toning down the game settings, upgrading system parts, or in general, suck it up and play, or complain and leav eto play another game. Those that leave definitely won't be missed.

thats the view i have of BF2. i really think Ea and Dice did a great job with this game. i do admit there are some bugs that plague the game but not enough to hinder the fun factor for me( most of it i think is on the user end). i mean where else can u parachute from a plane and land almost 3 feet from and enemy tank and blow it to high hell with your c4. also i think most of the complaints are unjustified b/c someone just wants to wine and moan and others complaints are justified. but all in all i think EA and Dice have done a great job with this game. a steady stream of patches and expansion packs keep me coming back for more. i would have wrote more but i know how some of u guys here hate to read lol

Yes it is amazing, call me a whiner but, they need to fix the bugs instead put on more exp/booster packs or whatnot. EA is all about making money and most know this. That is all i ask for is to fix the bugs! End of story.

Anyway, I think we are long over due for an "Official Ranked" map pack. I dont want to feel like I have to keep paying for maps. LIke with SF, everyone went all crazy "LETS BUY IT" now you are lucky to find 80 servers running it.
