Re: Warning! New giefer style coming (unless)

I just hope that enemy spec ops cannot pick up c4 that I deploy...I know it says the same kit but I am just hoping that it means the same team kind of thing....i think that if they make it so the enemy can disable or pick up your explosives, they have to use an engineer to get rid of them, and just like using the wrench for picking up mines currently, it should take a while.

it really should be only the person who put down the c4/claymore who can pick it up again......

and about the 1st post, your saying that when I kill and enemy engineer and then later on place some mines....HE gets the kills/tk's???????

or are u talking about mines that he had already placed before i killed him and took his kit.

I could have sworn ive killed ppl with mines a use from and enemys kit.... ive gotta test this......

Why shouldn't the same class be able to difuse your explosives?

The explosives layed by a kit will register a kill/tk to whoever currently has the kit.

spec ops deffusing others c4 is a bit much. they should just allow the engineer to be able to do that like in DC

            Yer missing the point.
(this is really one of those "cracking coconuts with a nerf bat, type situations)
The point I'm trying to make is that if they don't make a change in the current system (mine ownership tags are locked to the player that spawned with the kit) people can pick up mines of all types and place them to give you TKs.

If they DO change the system to make those ownership tags dynamic (as in assosiating them with who dropped them, not who's kit it was), then you'll be seeing people replacing your mines with theirs in order to steal points.

It's really not a hard concept to digest.

Ask I say, it's not a big deal... but there's gonna be a new breed of fuk-tard to watch out for either way.

Say you lay some mines, someone comes along, grabs the mine and places it in the exact same place you did, to annoy you. Or say he just takes the mine where as you could have got a kill where you had placed it. Say he ran out of c4 and took some of yours you planet at a flag. It's going to be hard to get that explosives badge now.

All these things are not good. I said it before.

ONLY YOU SHOULD HAVE THE OPTION TO PICK UP YOUR OWN CLAYMORE / C4. NOT YOUR CLASS.

I acually do like the dea that anyone of the right class can pick up/dissarm the appropriate type of mines. There's just a problem in the system that needs to be watched out for.

As mentioned before, I don't have much faith in the EA testers (track record plus what I know about the way they do QA from first hand experiance), so if we wanna have a clean patch we gotta keep our eyes open for things like this.

Anyway, I was trying to address this point:

"Currently if an enemy picks up your mines (via kit drop) and drops them elsewhere, you're going to get hit with a TK. This suggest that there's an ownership tag on the kit that doesn't change when picked up."

I don't see how someone grabbing an enemy's kit and then deploying mines would result in a TK for them - ownership of the kit, and all of its assets (deployed or not) changes when the kit is reassigned to the "pickupper".

Also, I have picked up enemy mines on more than one occasion (especially before 1.12) and redeployment does not result in a TK for the original engineer. Which leads me to believe that picking up a mine doesn't actually pick up that specific mine as much as it just "removes" the mine from the battlefield and adds +1 mine to your kit inventory.

That has been the majority of my experience as well. Although, I have gotten a dozen or so tks that couldn't possibly have happened.

Wargimp has a point about this cropping up as a issue.

As for C4 picking up- that is one exploit I wouldn't mind ever being fixed
The radius to pick up things is rather small anyway. If you're carefully watching your planted c4's, like you should be, they'll det before anyone can get close enough to snatch them.
OMG you might have to start finding clever spots to put them.
This is all assuming no tk issues are present in SpecOps.

Good point you make there Gimpy and unfortunately we know it will occur.

What I still want to know is how is a sniper going to pick up their claymore without killing themselves. If it is true that they can then it may mean snipers will be immune to claymores.

So when a sniper runs out of claymores, they could simply find another sniper on their team and steal their claymores.

You can aprouce claymores safely from the rear. If you can read the words "Point towards the enemy" you're on the WRONG side!

What's the big deal? "Stealing mine kills", yeah right. I highly doubt someone is going to lay there and waste time disarming all your mines you just laid and replacing them on the off chance some jeep or something comes along and nets him 1 kill. Plus if it bugs you that much have a little mine war and disarm HIS mines. Damn mine stealers...

Claymores, if you can get behind them you deserve to be able to pick them up.

If someone comes and takes your C4, yell at him and then rearm.

None of this is a big deal. Some people will be jerks about it, but then again, people will always be jerks. Play first, complain later because as I understand it, your other point was the dynamic mine ownership. Wait and see...

You don't pick them up as in literly now have 2 claymores instead of 1..

You can make them go away but thats it..

The ownership is lost and that specific explosive is done.. Just useless

I'm not sure about what will occur when like kits being able to pick up their equipment but Engineers could always do this regarding mines. I have personally seen my mines get picked up by a friendly Engineer and then layed right back down in the same spot as I had them. When the enemy vehicle came riding by he not me got credit for the kills.

yea, if you pick up another persons AT mine, and throw it down and kill someone in a vehicle you get credit for the kill

it will probably be the same for the c4 and claymores.

Damn I think wargimp is on to something here, nobody really knows how this patch is going to effect things. I do think that perhaps DICE should submit what they plan to patch and let the people here of the forums get stuck into it, before DICE even consider starting the patch.

The critical minds of people on the forums who love picking things apart would, and normally do find things the DICE would not of considered.

The collective minds of thousands far out-match the team of developers they have tucked away.

                                as you were.
