Im pretty sure it'd be by the same person that dropped it..they had this functionality in some BF1 mod (I forgot) only the person who dropped those particular mines can remove them..I dont see why this would be hard to implement

You've always been able to pick up someone else's mines and drop them again. No one did. No one is going to start.

Ownership of the explosive is assigned to the person who has the kit from which they were originally deployed.

Ownership is assigned to the person who deploys the mine, not who originally had the kit.
Not true. I was playing Sharqi once as the USMC and heading to recap the TV station. When I got there, I saw the flag was surrounded by c4. So, instead of facing likley death I decided to go to the roof of the building and either find the guy who'd placed the c4 or kill some enemy heli campers. So, as I go up, I see an enemy spec ops with his detonator in his hand. I kill him, then, seeing as there are no friendlies in the area, take his kit and detonate his c4. Luckily I happen to kill an enemy who was appearantly in the flag area. So you see, I got the kill with HIS c4.

It would be best if only enemies could pick the mines up, but considering there's a 1 in 7 chance of someone being your class (not taking into account any statistics), it's less likley your mine kills will be taken from you since mines can no longer be blown up with explosives. C4 is a different story though.

Either way, I hope they make this change.

What happens when you lay down a bunch of mines, then someone comes along, desides he want's the points, picks all of yours up, puts them back, and wanders off?
uhhh, you can already pick up mines with the wrench and re-use them. Anyways, he will just end up getting TKs because some tard will run them over and punish, so hes actually doing you a favor :)

C4s might be a problem though...

That would make sence... but it's not the way it works.
If you pick up an engineers kit now and lay down mines, any kills you make go to the person who's kit it was. This is a known issue that came up awhile ago.

Most folks seem to have missed my original point. If they fix the mine owner tags, it will be possible for players to pick up anything you drop and redeploy them just so they can get the points.

This is a minor issue, but I'm sure that you'll see abuses of it sooner or later.

I don't think it will be a problem.

In BF1942, any engineer could pick up any mines and while it could be an inconvienance at times, no one would get a TK for a mine that another person placed, and the point stealing was sparce at best.

With the proposed tweak in the patch that allows people to pick up mines (including AT, Claymore, and C4) by the same class, there's a new annoyance we're likely to see.

What happens when you lay down a bunch of mines, then someone comes along, desides he want's the points, picks all of yours up, puts them back, and wanders off?

If that's the case, people are going to be in there stealing your mine kills. You know what kind of players some BF2ers are... you know this will happen.

                          Hrmm.
Hmm. You must really have not played BF1942. You know you can currently pick up other engies mines as an engineer? I don't really see this as being an issue since it's currently possible and I've never seen "griefing" as a result.

This isn't how it works. The way I've seen it is if an engie, even if on the other team, lays down mines and dies. Then you pick up his kit, and someone runs over his mines, then you get the kill. The ownership is to whoever currently has the kit.

Statement revised. I wasn't really thinking of all scenarios.

Ownership of the explosive is assigned to the person who currently has the kit from which they were originally deployed.

Anyway, I was trying to address this point:

"Currently if an enemy picks up your mines (via kit drop) and drops them elsewhere, you're going to get hit with a TK. This suggest that there's an ownership tag on the kit that doesn't change when picked up."

I don't see how someone grabbing an enemy's kit and then deploying mines would result in a TK for them - ownership of the kit, and all of its assets (deployed or not) changes when the kit is reassigned to the "pickupper".

Also, I have picked up enemy mines on more than one occasion (especially before 1.12) and redeployment does not result in a TK for the original engineer. Which leads me to believe that picking up a mine doesn't actually pick up that specific mine as much as it just "removes" the mine from the battlefield and adds +1 mine to your kit inventory.
