Whoa. It just occured to me.
With the proposed tweak in the patch that allows people to pick up mines (including AT, Claymore, and C4) by the same class, there's a new annoyance we're likely to see.

What happens when you lay down a bunch of mines, then someone comes along, desides he want's the points, picks all of yours up, puts them back, and wanders off?

Well, the obvious answer is you knife that fooktard in the face... but that's not what I'm getting at.

Currently if an enemy picks up your mines (via kit drop) and drops them elsewhere, you're going to get hit with a TK. This suggest that there's an ownership tag on the kit that doesn't change when picked up. This will likely remain true when you pick a mine up off the ground, unless the catch it and make those tags change according to who picks 'em up.

If that's the case, people are going to be in there stealing your mine kills. You know what kind of players some BF2ers are... you know this will happen.

I had this same thought when I read the article. What about claymores, what if you place one in a strategic place and this guy picks it up and leaves ? I believe only YOU should have the option of picking up c4/mines/claymore. Not anyone else.

ow, who cares about the few points claymores and mines bring to you , also the guy replacing them will get the TK's for them .

Also lets not forget, when you are sniping on some roof, and some other sniper wants to be there to, he can pick your clay up now, and place it back, instead of blowing up and giving you a teamkill .

But I do think, when you place a clay at a ladder, they won't going to be able to pick it up, because hands are bounded .

I bring this up not to complain, but because it's something the testers should be looking out for. We know the testers have a less than stellar record, at least in terms of predicting/emulating the kind of boneheadedness that players like to indulge in.

Since they don't catch stuff like this, it's a good idea for us community types to keep an eye out for it.

while it can be done......a properly placed claymore cant be picked up. Yah yay you gotta get behind it...blah blah. Next time you see a claymore, an enemy claymore, get down with your knife, (if your not an engineer) and get so your knife is actually touching the claymore as if your repairing/re-picking up. Chances are your not gonna survive.
Besides 9 out 10 times when you get claymored, you never saw the claymore. I suspect this wont change.

I'd rather them pick up the mine/claymore than drive/run over it and punish me for it.

If I remember the info I read on the patch, only the person who layed them can pick them up. Not anyone else.

I would suspect that the classes will still be limited by what they can carry, i.e. an engineer can only have 6 Mines layed by himself on the map at any one time, if he lays more (by re-supply or picking up others) some of his original ones would dissapear?

• All mines (Claymore, Anti-vehicle, C4) can now be picked up by the same class that dropped it by using the “G” key.

Same class, not same player.

My first test to this is going spec ops, and going to a Karkand 24/7 server and simply walking around hitting my G key. I'll never die from C4 again.
