Is it supposed to take minutes to start up the game?
Is it supposed to take minutes to start up the game?
I just got the game and it takes really long to just start up the game. When the BF2 splashscreen comes up to the desktop, I can normally go to the bathroom, get some food, and see what is on TV - and then come back and still not be ingame.
Re: Is it supposed to take minutes to start up the game?

Hm...that's very strange.
I doubt it will help but try getting rid of the startup videos.
Also, do you have any firewalls or anything else in the background that might be slowing it down? Try downloading a program called smartclose, it will get rid of all those backround processes.

It takes me a solid 2 minutes to go from desktop, launching with All Seeing Eye to being able to click the Join button. My CPU is a Barton 2500 Athlon slightly overclocked up to 2 ghz. And I have a old RAID setup and 1.5 GB RAM.

That was the first thing I did. No Firewalls / Antiviruses. I have 22 background processes, including the game, without Smartclose. Processes isn't a problem.

I had a problem like that before but it took way more than 1 min more like 5-10.I tried everything and ended up reinstalling windows and BF2.My installers also took forever to install stuff, do you have this problem?

Than that may be related to your CD/DVD drive? Having an older, cheap one really makes a difference, especially when its loading up the content on the CD. I myself have a complete POS one, and it takes quite awhile of lagging before the Install icon pops up. The install process is even worse!
