Yea, I use an image instead of the disk and it works great.

Nope not CD drive problem because even the programs in my HDD took forever to install.

well you got a 64 bit right? thats to be expected.

But with my old 2800 and old 4mb Cache IDE hard drive, its kinda slow going. I do have a 1GB of DDR400 but i had to slow it to 333 to keep the game from crashing, which somehow increases load times.

What difference does having a 64 bit processor make? The game isn't optimised for 64 bit, it is written for 32bit. Makes no difference to load times. Neither does the CD as the game loads entirely from HDD, the CD is just there for checking and verification purposes. The limiting factors here are going to be your memory and your HDD cache size and speed.

i didnt say anything about a CD drive, i mentioned the fact i got an old 7 year old hard drive.....

And yes the game isnt 64 bit, but the volume of data the processor can process is increased right? more pipelines means more data flow right? (im prolly wrong, ive been outta the computer game for awhile)

This can be a variety of things such as processes, monitor (Adjusting screen resoulution), Graphics Card/drivers, Crap Proc, could be almost anything. Try setting the resoulution of the game to your desktop resoultuion or make it 800x600, see if things improve.

Re: the CD, I know you didnt I was referring to a previous poster, and yes, you are wrong about the 64 bit proc, unless code is written for a 64 bit archetecture , having such a processor will yeild no performance increase. :)

I'm just joking, I thing putting your pc specs in general is stupid, leave alone mentioning the screen.

Having a 64 bit processor is only going to make a difference if you're running a 64 bit OS. And I think we'll all agree that Windows XP 64 bit is pretty useless.

I don't see how it helps to tell someone to turn their firewall off unless they have a hardware firewall running too. Everyone always thinks that turning off your firewall is the magic fix for everything, and it is so dangerous. These days, a computer sitting there for 20 to 30 minutes on a broadband connection unprotected is going to get hacked. No question about it. If turning off the firewall is what gets the game running for you, there is some other problem going on. If your system is that maxed out just from having your firewall turned on, then you need more ram, more proc power, more something. But please don't turn your firewall off. You're just helping spread stuff around if you do that.
