A couple of weeks ago I would have agreed with you. The situation now is that most pilots :-

a) Only Base Rape
b) Give up when shot down a few times
c) Only go on bombing runs

I must stress I don't have a problem I'm a pilot but pride myself on taking out enemy planes and dealing with choppers, even those clever pesky ones that seem to know all the right planes to hide and time turns to perfection. Winning the round and giving my team air cover is my priority, but I don't see many like that.

I've been on teams and not flown and seen a chopper team get 41-1 kills, why? We have planes on our team but the pilot is not interested in taking out a chopper when he's a bugger to shoot down, why should he, he can get treble the kills elsewhere.

I really don't have a problem but I've been on servers where I can't get in a plane (massive TK'ing etc) and see us get base raped and seen our planes just fly off to do the same thing. This is mostly the norm!

So bottom line imho something needs to be done to make planes more vunerable, reduce armour by a lot (instant double effetiveness of AA) and even a guy shooting from the ground taking potshots does some damage.

i cant stand all the whiners out there who cant just play the game. (i know that whining about whiners is hipocritical.. thats just the kinda man i am!)

look.. 1st of all. infantry are meant to suck... if you dont like it or cant accept it, go play a FPS with out vechicles...

2nd, for all you people who cry cause you get killed by people bunny hopping of dolphin diving, look it sucks but if you can do it on the game and it is an advantage than dont beat them JOIN THEM... anyways the new patch is going to stop shooting while jumpping.. and it is also going to stop dolphing diving.. because its stupid any ways.. (but it works )

and 3rd'ly AA versus plane people out there ... your all tools!! yes AA needs to be better, thats why in the next patch increases there lock on abilty... you might actually be able to hit them if you aim it now (not to a the point where it hits all the time.. that would be un-realistic)... and you AA people win.. air craft hit points have been reduced a little and helicopters will only carry 8 missles instead of 12 or 14 :S...

but come on people as if planes would be good if you couldnt fly over anybody with out getting blown out of the sky by all the AA upgrades you guys want... come on now planes are the best of the best.. they win wars. thats why the millitary actually give a rats.. they wouldnt pay millions of dollars for a single soldier.. common sence people... planes can move more agilely than missles anyway thats why there had to hit...

oh and the new patch will make the sniper rifles more accurate... this is mainly cause the mec chinese and the unlock have crap accuracy... there also making the G3a3 (assult unlock) better... TV guided missles also have a shorter range.. i dont know when the patch is coming out yet but ill try and keep you all informed of the changes...

hey... i am one of the people who like it the way it is and ive only spent 44 min in a jet! i just have more fun running around getting kills regardless of jets.. helicopters.. and tanks.... its a good game people! your not gonna have fun if you are to busy worrying about whos getting the better points because they have a certain vehicle or because you cant hit'em as easy as you want cause there jumping...

Here we go, my constructive criticism:
Plane whoring and chopper whoring involves killing enemy planes before they can take off. That usually happens on Oman and Wake island. The solution: put those planes in hangers! Like in Clean Sweep and Dragon Valley and Kubra Dam. Put the airfield FAR from the actual bases, like in Kubra Dam. This should guarantee that you can get in and take off without getting bombed on the runway. Then you can really say that I'm losing because my pilots suck and they're winning because they have better skilled pilots. No more complaints (yea right).

Same deal with chopper raping in Sharqi: put the chopper pads FAR away from a base. Then if the enemy chopper camps there, they won't be near the actual battlefield and won't contribute at all.

How about not letting the other side steal planes or choppers? Don't these things need some key or code to start? I agree that once you get into a tank or jeep and then get out, the enemy can jump in and steal it. but stealing a chopper or plane right from spawn is just ridiculous.

Planes can only be effectlively countered by other planes - that is a fact. Name another weapon system in BF 2 that can only be countered by the same weapon system? The answer is that all other weapon systems have an effective counter, hence the issue at hand. Why should planes be in a class by themselves? That is the crux of the problem and why so many threads are out there about planes and how they are taking the fun out of the game.

I have totally changed my style of play so as to not be bothered by planes anymore and actually enjoy the spec ops mission of harrassing enemy airfields. I love planting c4 where planes spawn and patiently wait until I see 4 or 5 plane whoring pilots try to get in at once. BOOM! Or hijacking an emeny plane under their noses. Or taking my M95 and sniping pilots as they enter a plane. The unbalanced strength of planes actually makes the game fun for me again, but it doesn't change the underlying fact that planes hold a unique status in this game. I'd rather play the game as it was meant to be played (working in squads, etc, but I got tired of getting blowed up time after time by the untouchable enemy plane). I'd bet the farm that what I'm reading on this thread are posts from plane whores who love to rack up 70-80 kills in a game while only having to worry about an enemy jet as a threat. Great fun.

Yes I do.

I am new to it and suck big time and sure it bugs me when the same guy kills me from a jet or tank over and over, but so what? It's myself I get mad at.

1. It's only a game.

2. Adapt to the situation, switch kits/tactics etc. You get good by learning and doing, not bitching.

3. It's still only a game!

4. If you die, that's your own fault for your poor tactics, skill, kit choice or decision making. (Team Kills and vehicle whoring murderers who kill you for a tank being the exception).

5. IT IS ONLY A FLIPPING GAME!!!!!! If it upsets you to lose, and you can't learn from it, DON'T PLAY!

6. The game is not perfect, it has things and people who play it that frustrate and infuriate. Welcome to life!

I love the idea of placing a C4 charge under where a plane spawns and then tagging the wannabe pilots that run for the plane.

I think I've found a new hobby, thankyou :)
