I'm not sire if this has ever been brought up.
My buddy and I were talking and he brought up a good point.
Both he and I tend to keep a close eye on our KD ratio. We just feel it's one of the more important stats. Our opinion anyway.
We were wondering how gameplay would be affected if you lost a point when you got killed.
We think it could actually be a positive for gameplay because as it is now there are no consequences for dying (Other than Suicide).
Being that BF2 is not DM (Death Match) there is very little negative impact to getting killed. Ok...so you have to respawn and high-tail it back to where you were, but that's not what I mean.
People that go all 'Rambo' charging in to situations know that if they get killed they will just respawn and start all over but hopefully they'll take a few people before they die.
If you knew you were going to loose a point if you got killed I don't think you'd see the 'gung-ho' approach to gameplay you would see more tactics/stealth/cover.
Now of course in that would also mean that your Global Points would go up slower than they do now.
There are some people in the top leader boards that actually have KDR's below 1.0. This means that they are dying more than they are killing. All that means to me is that these people are point whores and have little actual combat skill in the game.
It would actually raise the importance of killing too instead of just "point Gathering"
What do you guys think?
