well what i do is be a one man squad and ask the comander when a flag is being caped. BINGO defended flag! i rack up to 10 or so IAR. and the kills are good too armor/jet/helo. unless the other player is a skiled joystick whore ERRRRRRR!

Not always; although I suspect most are.

I've recently taken up flying in BF2 after not really having tried it much since I play with a clan and the pilot positions have usually been fulfilled by others. When playing for a clan you look for targets that will most likely help your team on the ground and you also try to clean up and lurking helis and hinder the enemies bombing runs is possible. Those in it for themselves will score more Combat points than pilots that try focus on helping their teammates, but their Team score will be the same.

Plane whores suck. But I love being commander on certain maps and repeatedly pounding the sh*t out of the enemy plane whores (especially Gulf of Oman on the carrier).

The funny thing is that most of the time, they never learn, and will respawn and wait in the same exact place as before over and over.

Well when I play China or MEC I am normally a medic, sniper or pilot. I am pretty good at pilot and its probably the funnest in my opinion, or at least the fighter jets because thats what I fly. I am not anti american but you get that thrill running down your spine when you shoot down an american lol, kinda makes you wanna start chanting some foriegn language.

there are certain methods of getting the plane alot VERY often... which i am not willing to share because i like being a planewhore. lol.

well i hate when people say "blah blah blah you dont help the team when you do that blah blah"

well let me tell you something.... if there are 2 tanks... and a couple of cars in their turrets... raping our last base... and i am in a jet, you better believe killing them is saving the team.

lets see.. wake.. all i do when i get a jet in the beginning of the round is get over to the chinese base as fast as possible in hopes of killing the J-10 before it lifts off. why? you ask? so i can kill everyone at their base while preventing the J-10 from coming over to rape the carrier. "what if the J-10 gets away?".....well i just follow him and kill the bastard... and then go back and keep killing the retards that wait for the heli/jet. basically after about 5 minutes people say screw it and give up on the vehicles. but the jet typically takes about 45 seconds to spawn... so after i run out of bombs/missles... or im getting low, i wait until the next jet has spawned so i can blow it up, and then get my ass back to the carrier to refill, and then hurry up and get back to the airfield. as i am heading back i blow up vehicles and if i see a tank i bomb it.

now, i normally do this until our team gets the airfield (which normally goes by very fast since i constantly blow up the AAs and jets and tanks... and cars..) and they normally just fly a BH over there. once we have that i just fly around at like 150 ft and look for any vehicles/AA. i am very accurate with the machine gun so i take out cars/buggys/AA very fast. and when they only have like 1 or 2 bases, the cars are normally packed to their full capacity, which means more kills for me, and less chance of the opposing team gaining any other base.

you people see the people flying in jets and see them getting a shitload of kills, and think...."oh hes just a pointwhore... hes doing it for himself and not the team."

think before you say that next time.. because at least half of the people are working for the team. its true, some people arent.. and they refuse to try and take out other jets, but people like me are for the team. more times than not (like 80%) when i play wake and i get a jet, we kill the other team and they normally have 1-2 basses in the last 150 or so tickets.

please dont think people who fly planes dont do anything for the team.

now about how to get planes fast.. i only have a gig of ram. so i get in the same time as everyone else. and if you read my long rant you deserve to know how to get jets very often so here it goes. when you get in, hope for a good spot on the carrier, like the spot on the lower type of thing where you have to jump up to the carrier and then run for the jet. if not, you have to try to run directly in front of the crowd that is running for the jets. why? well because you get a huge boost if 2 people are sprinting and make contact with you, which improves your chances of getting a jet. on wake, if you dont get it the first time... be smart. if you see a crowd of any more than 3 people get the fuck away from that crowd, because i can PROMISE you.. they will die. either by an arty strike or a jet coming by. while you are waiting, there is a spot near the lips that hang off (the things where the jets spawn) of the main jetspawn. there is just enough room for you to get on. now you just hop down there and lay down and you are practically invincible. just pop up every 10 seconds and see whats going on..if you see jets flying around.. its gonna be tough. if you hear arty stay down. now, if you see NO one is waiting for the jet (which will happen at some point because they got killed) for whatever reason... STAY popped up but still down on that lip and be ready to jump up and get in. the reason for this is it seem almost all the time when you are waiting and it's about to spawn another jet will come out of nowhere and kill you, and you will see it spawn.




well that is only about 1/8 of the things i use to get a jet.. its just common sense to me... but some people are stupid.


oh and another thing, know EXACTLY where to stand for the jetspawn. alot of people make the mistake of standing where the cockpit is... thats wrong. stand near where the middle of the jet is. you stand by the cockpit for HELIS not jets. i dont know why it works that way.

Not that funny when on Wake Island and you're getting hammered by both enemy jets and the arty whilst none of your planes are in the air.

I played one game on a pub server recently as Chinese and just sat around whilst the planewhores and commander bombed the carrier continuously. They had no chance and what was even sadder was that when the score was at 230-70 a bunch of guys took the heli ni a spawn-camper the carrier. Really ruined the game for the US. I left that round as I didn't want to take part in that kind of gameplay. I doubt that many people from the US team stuck around for the next round either.

It's not that they don't learn, but if you've ever wanted to fly on a pub server you usually have to be waiting exactly where the plane spawns otherwise you'll never get a ride. Same for the chopper but with a little less TKing.

these planewhores, the thing i truly hate about them is they somehow always seem to be the first one to a jet at the start of a round. i really don't know how they do it. and somehow if they do get killed in the jet they manage to get back in a jet in no time. i rarely get in a jet because everytime i want to i get teamkilled or artillery killed or something like that. i don't know how they so readily get in jets. i hate each and every one of them.

tonight on oman one of them (colony) was saying "I RUN THIS B*TCH! I'M THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!" - a total tool.

LMAO. You played against that bastard on Gulf of Oman too! He did get kicked for TKing plane whoring though.

How does Colony do it? That dude stays on everyone's tail no matter what.

a kill with a jet is a plus for the team...thats like saying tank whores are in it for themselves, medics and support are in it for themselves...i just started using the jet (probably have less than 20 hours) but it's fun and yeah i take down a jeep with 3 people on the way to cap a base...like the guy above said, it helps out the team...your complaining because you're trying to plane whore but you can't.

Next time hold down the "E" button like they all do and you're chances of getting in the plane increase.

Because they stand at the place where the jet spawns and continually press the use key so when it does spawn they are first in. And like everyone else said, they help a lot, it's scary when your a rifleman and theres a convoy of tanks coming to wards you but then one of your jets comes and bombs them all.

Please, please don't just wait around on the runway/helipad all game for a jet or helicopter to show up. You're a waste of a slot on that side and contribute nothing to your team. You hurt them by denying them one person who could do something. I like getting in the attack chopper quite a bit. But if someone else gets it than I'm happy to grab my rifle or shotgun and go do something for my team.

To the original poster: Lots of Ram will have you loading fast, as <<R2>>Capt.HKS pointed out. Having a Raid 0 configuration on your hard drives will also do it, even if you only have 1Gig of Ram.

If I wanna "help my team" I play a match with my clan, that pretty much speaks for itself. Public, I wanna fly (mostly).
