Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
Turn Vertical Sync Off. I have the 7800GT running all in High details and I average 88-100 FPS with no problems. If vertical sync is turned On will kill FPS.
I have to say I pretty much agree. This is NOT BF2s issue, this is an issue with the machine.
They told you to check your drivers for a reason. Chances are the chipset drivers are not installed. It has happened to me before, I got about 1/3 the performance I should have been getting, so like they said, check for driver updates and use Drive Cleaner Pro to uninstall the old ones first.
yeah check the power supply, that is probably the issue. But, even though bf2 chooses some computers, I have made it work perfectly on 3 computers, all with different specs, some bad some good. If you get 21fps on low settings it is definitly something wrong with your rig, because bf2 doesnt work THAT bad, and other people with the same specs get better performance. get the latest drivers, make sure everything in plugged in right, and make sure your PSU is strong enough.
My experience was not having the proper MB chipset drivers installed. (I had recently lost my OS to a fatal crash and had to start over) Not having them installed had my FPS at 15-20 with almost all settings on low with no AA/AF. My 3dMark was 961. After installing the proper chipset drivers, my FPS went up to 35-40 with everything on Medium and AA2. My 3dMark was 3262.
Maybe that's your problem, maybe not. My machine is far from a screamer, but with the proper drivers intalled - it's right for the task for me.
just a question... i get a 6720 with a x850 xt pe normal... soooo that isnt right because you have 2 gigs of ram and a new generation card... i think videocards are just so random... and for the battlefield 2 engine IT SUX..
I forgot to say that I'm running with 1GB right now because I have 4x512 and my motherboard only support 2x ram sticks. So I'll be selling my 4x512 and buying 2x1GB soon. I know that was important, I just forgot it. ;P
I'm sick of you rippin on P4's and saying people rigs need to overhauled. Granted, AMD athlon's are better for gaming. But even the benchmarks don't show a HUGE difference. The only processor's that actually show a HUGE margin are well over $500 (FX series).
The processor isn't the problem. I have 4 friends that all encountered a slow in gameplay after the patch. I have not encountered any issue. Also you say you have been a tech for many years, but every time you post, you always rate someone's system by their processor. A system is measured by the overall speed of everything, not just the processor. It's measured by CPU, ram and timings, memory read/write/latency together with the hard drive, and the mobo. A great PSU is required to run all smoothly. A combination of all makes a fast computer. I tried to give you a challenge in another post, but I never heard anything from you. I will take any benchmark program you want against you with my measly P4. You have been called out............
I have the same problem, and I even have two 7800GT's in SLI!
Patch 1.12 totally killed the performance, I used to run in 1280x960 w/ all on Ultra High and 8xAA 8xAF - after patching to 1.12 I had to lower it to 1024x768 w/ most on Medium, some on low and 2xAA 2xAF to get a decent framerate (30-50). It still dips into the low 20s more than often though.
Pre-patch I had about 70 FPS on average with the settings above..
There's not much you can do other than joining the rest of us in waiting for EA/DICE to fix the performance problems they somehow introduced in 1.12
There's most likely nothing wrong with your hardware, there's loads and loads of people having similar problems after 1.12 - and the problems span across all hardware configurations.
Tey looking inside your rig and make sure everything is running becuase in my BIOS it shows CPU fan running. When I opened my case, I noticed it wasn't, so I kinda fixed the problem. My cpu temp used to be 65, which caused lag. now it is smooth baby!!!!!!
There is indeed something wrong with the BF2 engine. It is very poor. I can run Splinter Cell: CHaos Theory, maxed out with 2xAA at 1280x1204 resolution at a solid 30 FPS, but can't get away with those FPS with everything set to Medium in BF2. Splinter Cell looks 10x better then BF2 as well.
I have been building, upgrading and tweaking gaming rigs for many years. I have had my share of hardware and operating system performance issues. I have also, out of necessity, become very good at squeezing every last bit of performance out of older hardware. BF2 is the first game I have ever encountered that has me stumped! There is no question that there is a problem with the game itself. Why it manifests itself on some rigs and not others, with no apparent common link I have no idea, but I and many of my friends have noticed a marked performance drop since 1.12. Others have not. My system is completely up to speed according to numerous synthetic benchmarks as well as the other games I play. It is JUST BF2 that runs like crap on my system. Nothing else. IT'S THE DAMN GAME!

BF2 is just badly optimised for different rigs. Feels like Dice was in a hurry to release the game, and the 7800GT came after the release so it's not probably even optimised at all?
Don't know what's the problem but seems like every other is having issues including me.
If it was the PSU wouldn't he's computer be unstable and so on?
