    Skill? Practice? Training? :)

I have been called cheater so many times. People threatened to send my username to EA and have me banned. Supposedly, I was using "TV missile aimbot", whatever it is :)

Before you even start flying/gunning alone, you HAVE to get good with guiding TV missiles. That's the key. Switching seats is not important.

Once you are confident with guiding TVs, try to fly/gun alone.

Reminder: hitboxes on choppers are screwed up, so you'll experience missiles going through choppers when hitting them from side into body, or into cockpit. Try to aim for tail part, whenever you can.

Basically, chopper should be hovering (start like this). Point the center of the pilots HUD (small circle/cross/whatever) little bit left from the target you want to shoot at. Then, press F2, right-click the mouse, and press left mouse (might need to press it few times quickly to launch TV). Once TV is out, you only need to guide TV and not worry about the chopper.

Chopper will keep on spinning, and go UPWARDS. You won't crash.

When TV hits (or misses), press F1 to switch back to pilot seat, and move on.

After a bit of practice, you will get used to even use TVs when pointing downwards, moving quickly or being near objects, since you can make a TV kill in 1 second which is more than enough to switch back to pilot seat and stabilize the chopper. I do it regularly, and it ****es off armor people a lot.

Never try to get close to the target. Try to hit it from the distance. Closer you are, less chance of hitting it you have.

Some people say you need to stay very high up, while I usually stay at fairly low altitudes and I still don't crash nor have trouble guiding missiles. Those who go up lose visibility of the ground targets.

Watch minimap. Learn maps. When you see someone spot the target (armor, chopper, etc), fire TV in that general direction and hunt for the target. After bit of practice, you'll be easily hitting things outside your view, and your teammates will probably give you "Thanks, I owe you one" (which is the best part of the game - helping your teammates).

Try to avoid close dogfights with choppers that have gunners. Try to hit them from the distance. If you do get close, try to point your pilot cross left from the enemy chopper, then quickly F2, RMB, LMB and hope you'll get straight hit. You can even use the gun from gunner position, but chopper will rotate to right, so turn cross 90 degress from the enemy chopper, and when your chopper stars rotating, you'll have a second or two (maybe even three) to hit him with the gun.

Planes will be coming after you, that's for sure. More you kill, more ****ed other team is, so pilots will be taking off just to get you. Watch your surroundings by using CTRL (and move mouse around). They will usually slow down, in which case you can get them even with normal chopper missiles. That really ****es them off.

You can use TVs to get planes as well, but it takes a lot of luck. Hitboxes are screwed, and I had 60% of missiles simply go through planes, no matter if you're hitting them from front or behind. It's easiest to kill them if you hit them from the top.

If you get against chopper that has a pilot and a good gunner (who guides TVs very well), you might get killed fairly quickly if you don't try to spot them first. They have the advantage of evading your TV, while your chopper will only spin (while you're in gunner position), therefore making you easier target.

Once you get good with flying chopper alone, you can easily make 7 TV missile hits in a minute (on a busy map), and go for reload. Then repeat.

Good chopper (single or duo) does make a difference, and they can often decide which team wins. More than planes can decide. I often ends up having more kills/points than plane whores, but I don't care about kills/points. I care about enemy not taking the flag

And try to be ethical, and have respect for other pilots/gunners. Don't rape carriers or their HQs. Don't hit choppers while they're on helipad trying to takeoff. I will, though, kill choppers taking off (or empty ones) when my teammates are running towards enemy flag to take it (on Dalian Plant, Daqing Oilfields, Cleansweep, etc). Give them a chance to fight back, it can be a lot of fun.

However, when you kill them few times, they'll most definitelly wait for you to die and go to your helipad and keep on killing you before you can takeoff. In such cases, I lose my ethics/morale, and first kill them (jeeps do job just fine), and then I make sure they never take off again. That really ****es me off, when they kill me on helipad and brag about it.

You will meet others who fly alone. Some will be good, some will be bad. Some will kill you easily (if they guide TVs better than you :)), so give credit where credit is due. I never mind being killed by good gunners, I always tell them how good they are. However, you'll get whining in 95% of cases, and respect in 5%, so get used to it as well. And I'm not only talking about enemy - your own teammates will try to take chopper from you so that they can "have a run" (since it looks so easy to grab kills/points). Or enemy will switch teams, and TK you. Or will take the chopper, and then hide with it somewhere. Etc, etc :)

And... never rape carrier/helipad/HQ. Only people with lack of confidence do such things, and try to increase size of their e-penis.

If you're good, you'll get them when they're up in air - no need to kill them while they're still on ground. And if you're not that good... well, practice some more or stay on ground

For the most part I agree, but when the enemy chopper team decides to just put c4 on their chopper to try and kamikaze me all the time because they can't dogfight, I'll drop all the ethics and keep them grounded for the rest of the map.

Hmm, I never have trouble hitting planes from behind, because the hitbox seems to be lagging behind the plane (as with choppers). It actually makes shots from behind more easy to me than head-on.

no way to keep it stable i studied it for about a week developing different methods and i have some to keep it somehwat stable but most of the guys whoc an do it know what im talking about... tving in the gunners seat is ann awesome skill to have. i can easily get 20 TV's a round and about 30 regular kills in a round no gunner so its really good to have if nobody wants to gun which oddly enough happens o me quite a bit...just keep practicing.

I would consider it the only way for most guys who are proficient with the wire guided to get decent practise on public servers. Most gunners and most pilots suck badly so rather than play the lottery they choose to fly alone and get consistent targeting.

It can get boring if they stay above 200. The only thing they see are transport and other attack helicopters. They aren't much of a fight if you've got a competent gunner though, it's just annoying to have to search high up in the clouds for the enemy.

I don't do it myself though I can't hit anything with the 10 sensitivity I need for my leet piloting :). I leave the wire guided to my gunner. I'm fortunate that way.
