In PC gamer they said DO NOT get a Nvidia 7800 with out atleast a FX-55.

then pcgamer is stupid, unless you have a very bad cpu, then your gpu won't be bottlenecked. also what do you mean "at least" fx-57 when fx-57 is the fastest cpu on the market....

It's not his Xtrememusic, because I am having similar problems with an Audigy 2 ZS, 4000 San Diego, and XFX 7800 GTX.

First off, if it is a brand new system, I highly doubt you have dialed it in. Go check out all the forums of the hardware you have and see if you can find some tweaking tips to make everything faster and work better together. It took me a good month after I finished my rig to have it as fast as it is now. Give it time and use the guides to get better settings. When you built your rig, everything that is installed starts at a dismal default that needs to be tweaked for better performance.

Its a driver problem. I posted a thread after the same thing happened to me. I ended up running driver cleaner 3 on all my drivers, cleaned the driver and XP .cab, and installing the most up to date ones. My frame rate went from crap to pretty darn high.

My Radeon X700 LE runs all on MEDIUM SETTINGS with 4x AA with NO LAG OR CHOPPINESS even while running on 250+ ping on 24/7 Strike at Karkand (64 player) maps. oh well...guess i shouldnt upgrade to a 6800GT then...hehe.

A 6800GT will get you 40-60 frames on all high with the right supporting hardware. Some people will get less with improperly installed drivers, fubar windows installs, and/pr inadequate cooling for their hardware.

Hey maybe your power supply is bottlenecking your graphics card. How many amps does your PSU have on the 12V rail? Monitors shouldn't affect 3D performance at all.

500 Watt PSU, i dont know about the amps on my 12V rail, im a newb to PSU's lol.

Where can I find that information? The only thing I don't know about are PSU's, so please tell me, can I find this information in the BIOS? Where?

Also, there is a little red switch on the back, that I haven't got the guts to touch lol, it's set on 115V but it can go to 250V, should I switch it to 250V?

It's your memory. You're running non matched memory which makes you run at 2T timings. And that dramatically hurts performance. Either run 2X1GB matched pairs or 2 2X512MB matched pairs.

DO NOT CHANGE YOUR POWER SUPPLY SETTING FROM WHAT IT IS NOW

Im guessing your in the US or canada if you change to 220-250V you will blow your PSU, Motherboard maybe graphics CPU and memory. Stay as you are. The 220-250 mode is for countrys like the UK that use a 220-250AC supply.

ONCE AGAIN DONT CHANGE IT YOU'LL REGRET IT


Basically this switch matches your power to the national supply type its not like an extra power mode that boosts performance.
