Second, get on their 6, fire off some rounds with the guns to shake em up a little, lock onto em let em drop their flares and once their flares have vanished and you have locked on again, their flares havent reloaded yet. Fire about 2-3 Amraams at that @$$ and watch em burn.
based on what u've said, i have no doubt that i could shoot ur J10 down with a bomber.

Based on what you said, I'm even happier that I'm not a reg Jet pilot. And B, I don't nor will I ever Fly a J-10 unless the enemy is ****ing me off and I decide to go steal theirs

LMAO, your what 12 and watch CNN more than the average 6th grader? I play the USMC only because I prefer their weapons and vehicles. And how is that a false tip? Are you trying to say that your odds of taking down a jet are no better when your locked onto the aircraft and not their flares? LOL, your the one advising people to take out jets with guns over missles. GEt with the program General

again, it proves that u dont know anything about dogfighting.

btw, all those tips were from a guy who's having an aviater record of 1 hr jet experience and 1.90 K/D ratio (41:21).

Listen squirt, I fly quite often when not training/pulling OPS with my Unit; I know what happens when I wait for a bogie to drop their flares and engage once my target acquisition reengages. Regardless of what you think you know and who you think you can correct, I know WTF works and what doesn't. Now go to bed, Santa's coming

lol it's amazing that u still believe santa, sorry im too old for that sh1t.

now lemme tell u what was wrong in ur so called TIPS.

first, gunning a jet down does NOT take the whole round to do it, unless u cant hit anything and all ur cannon bullets go into the water. if u do it effectively, u can shoot down a jet with the cannon in 10 seconds. dont give me some crap like "i know what works", WHAT worked in ur 41 jet kills?

second, u dont just freakin lock on, wait for the flares going off, then fire. if u dont take speed, angle, distance and many other things into account, 99% of ur missiles will miss the target, and more likely they will hit ur friendly air assets. and again, dont tell me u dont even know that.

                  owned? satisfied? bye.

Re: Are there really any dogfighting tricks?

IV has some nice tips. I'm going to have to try leading more with guns. I've had a good bit of success lately with the following tactics, though due to mediocre opponents. I approach and close in on their six at full speed, perhaps with afterburner. I usually just leave Air to Air mode on. As I'm lining up and closing distance in on them, they start get missle warnings and start turning. I anticipate this and cut throttle by maybe 50%. This helps me stay on them while they try to shake me. I keep their missile alarm buzzing away. All throughout the pursuit I will pepper them with guns if I think I can connect. But really what I'm waiting for is a chance to fire my missiles. If I can catch them changing direction or not in a full-on turn, it's missiles away. On average I will spam 3 to 5 missiles depending how good I think my chances are. Surely most will miss, but I can usually get one to hit. Then I have to reload, but the AA missiles quickly refill by buzzing an airfield. Also I generally will not fire if friendly aircraft are anywhere in front of me. If I'm trying to be wingman and clear a friendly pilot's tail, try to stick with guns unless your target really flattens out trying to get his shots off. Good pilots won't let me use any of these tactics against them.

To sum up, quickly close in on them, slow down a bit to stay on their six, and when opportunity knocks, just go crazy with missile spam.

Re: Are there really any dogfighting tricks?

Ok, there are NO DAMN AMRAAMs IN THE GAME. Inside, the US jets use sidewinders, most likely AIM-9X, the newest varient. Anyways, guns are ur friend, they reload faster and they don't give u away. Also, u don't have to switch modes for ground attack. Anyways, Jones, STOP FLAMING RANDOM PEOPLE. U look like the 12 year old here, we don't take this kind of behavior. People like me that have been here before BF2 came out actually know that randomly flaming and giving pretty much false info doesn't get u respect.

if they are chasing you on a straight away, pull up to start some loops and b4 you start the loops release your throttle so that by the time you finish the loop he will have started to pass you and than put it at full throttle and gun the afterburners and burn his ass down.

                        btw jones and xopht i think yall should take a time out from eachother or seomthing, just dont come to these forums for 2 days and do something else and come back with a clean head,totally forgetful of the past you two have had.;

Try shotting the cockpit because most of the time you can kill the pilot inside the plane and when they respawn they have to wait forever because there plane was not destroyed :)

Ya, kinda a glitch, it happened to me, i had to wait for like 2-3 minutes for my plane, it kept flying in a straight line along the oceans of Dalian.
