Are there really any dogfighting tricks?

Does anyone has some and willing to share? i got owned by this guy for 7 times i was in the air...i got owned TOTALLY and i am not ashamed to say that. His first shot would take 50% of damage and whatever i did, loop...bank left bank right..he still can get me... sigh.

-afterburners on and fly straight up and do a looping, that helps most of the time to get rid of them
-when you have no flares and you think a missile has been fired, make an very sharp turn :)
-fly slow and fly a little cricle, then they prolly cant locate you for a while

    enjoy

Shoot the other plane, that helps.

the F9, F10, F11, F12 helps ALOT in locating him.

The Split "S" is usually a very good defensive manouver which if performed right and combined with a tight roll back can put you in the agressors position.

The "Split S" exlpained (with animation)

make sure youve got plenty of altitude tho otherwise its splat!

I invented (think nobody got it yet before me) Inverted "Split S". Skilled pilots might know that by rotating 180° you are doing a Split S, pull it back a little in the start so he will follow then bam, push it up and you are doing it invert.

many thanks for posting the basic manoveurs. Appreciate that! What amaze me is his tactic to taking me down with missles..we all know its not easy to take a jet down with missles in this game unless i fly straight..but i wasnt...sigh...

Another good tip .. never fly in a straight line for longer than 5 seconds .., even if your certain your not been followed.
Only fly straight (till you get more advanced) when lining up for bombing runs and missile shots.

There are plenty of things that can give you better odds of a solid missile hit, and abrupt change in your flying pattern can lead to you getting a missile up your tail pipe. By abrupt, I mean going one direction to a completely opposite direction, that spot were he starts to change direction like that, that is a big window of opportunity.

Don't take **** shots with the missiles either, if the other jet is not traveling within about 30 degrees (maybe even less) of parallel to your jets fuselage, your not gonna hit him.

I mainly fly around with my bomb hud on and use the maingun alot. When you use the main gun, don't mistake client side hits as real hits, just because you see little puffs of bullet impacts on the jet, does not mean your hitting it. If your shooting at a jet while he is banking hard and you have to lead your shot ahead of him and you see that your getting those little bullet impact animations at the very back of his jet, your probably getting client side hits (false hits). You want to see those little animations at the front or at the very least, the middle of his jet.

If your rippin after someone and he knows your shooting at him then you see him make a bee line for the runway to get repaired, turn your missiles on, he'll either turn away from it or get shot in the ass by a missile. That missile tone isn't good for just letting you know your acquiring a lock, it is also good for making the guy change his course. If he changes course, odds are, he is going to present you a nice profile of his jet for the main gun. Either way, you've increased your odds of irritating the **** out of him and getting a few squirts in on his jet.

So, now we know that you have to combine the two and you start increasing your odds of a good hit by a lot.

There are other windows of opportunity, it just comes down to remembering the 'why and how' of the shots that have landed for you and then applying that to future encounters.

Don't use the missiles, it will alert him switch to bomb mode and just machine gun them, THEN use the misiles.

Ok, also, always get the chinese jets. They own all others. I hate it when a LESS experienced pilot blows me outta the sky when i'm in a F35B just cause he has a J-10. Anyways, the ol loop (just pull up and keep going) works, missiles can't hit u that way. Also, barrel rolls, immelman, and split-s work as people have said.

You my friend no TT, I happen to know a thing or 2 about a thing or 2. And all I will say is this......(forgive me if someone already relayed this tactic above as I did not feel like reading every post) First, if you try and take down an enemy jet with full armor using guns you will be trying the whole game unless that fly below mach 1 and/or are your buddy letting you smoke their @$$. Second, get on their 6, fire off some rounds with the guns to shake em up a little, lock onto em let em drop their flares and once their flares have vanished and you have locked on again, their flares havent reloaded yet. Fire about 2-3 Amraams at that @$$ and watch em burn.
