Sloppy players always run into the "circle o' death", it serves them right.
How many times have you dropped Arty, after announcing it to all squads and
a general announcement for the scumbag lone wolves who refuse to join a squad for some idiotic reason, just to have a complete helmet fly or drive right into the center of your impact area? In my opinion Cmdrs should not be held responsible for mistakes made by bad players. over 1/2 of my Tk's are arty tk's from these tools. I have over 74 hours as a cmdr, and frankly I am glad that Dice fixed this.

I think the commander should not be able to drop artillery unless a squad leader calls for it.

Re: Commander should be punished for TK bring it back?

Not just no but HELL NO! Being commander is 'boring' enough,I admit I quickly get the 'itch to be on the field' but I know that wouldn't work well for my team. This shouldn't even be thought of to be honest,I'm sure we all remember before, when commanders would issue artillery, team mates would run directly into it and AND punish for their own stupidity, not only that but they would also swear at the commander for it,my opinion is hell no,otherwise the stupidity will come back,we still see many people do this, however there are sometimes the chances were team mates THINK their safe but still get killed, this has also happened to me on occasion.

In short,no,you bring the ability to punish commander for those TK's and he looses points then the commander will 80% of the time have alot of negatives if not be banned from many servers.

Most definitely no. I don't anymore idiots that think the arty circle is their friend and know it's a good way to PO the commander. I'm mean how hard is it to look at the mini-map and NOT run into the shower of metal death?

Agreed. Sometimes I get teamkilled by friendly artillery. I curse myself, and I go to the doctor checking my eyesight and/or hearing. If the punishing for Acc.Tk on artilley came back.... Then n00bs would see you punished, kicked and throughoutly drag your score down to the place snow seldom...eh...snows.

And there are times when you do hear it that you're rather screwed no matter what you do. You're left with two choices:

                    1) Get hit by the artillery
                    2) Leave your cover and get shot.

It isn't always the players fault when they die from friendly artillery. There is such a thing as a bad drop.
While there is such a thing as a bad drop, keep in mind that a (good) commander has "the big picture". What looks like a bad drop to you may not be.

Being the commander can make for some tough calls.

Like when you have ONE or TWO soldiers in a hot zone under cover AND 6+ enemies advancing on the position. Sometime I hold the arty hoping the soldiers under cover can take out 3X their numbers. Rarely do they.

With the "old" rules of getting penned for arty TK, I would have to hold off my arty strike because I knew that if I sent arty in, the one or two guys that would get hit with the arty would pen me, and it just was not worth it. With no pens, I am free to use my judgement based on what is going on.

I know it is a game, but the game is WAR. Sometimes in the overall scheme of things, one or two soldiers need to "take one for the team".

I use arty as carefully as I can based on what is going on. But I want the option to drop it all on your head without getting penned IF I think that it is the best thing to do. I am sorry you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. I am sorry I TK'd you with arty. BUT, stopping (or delaying) that enemy advance or keeping the enemy from capping that flag is more important than your life. Respawn and go attack.

A smart commander (I know, there are not many of us around) realizes that arty is already a punishment for the commander. EVERYTIME, even if there is no TK involved. The commander gets his points in part from the kills made by his team. Every arty kill is two points less for his team, and therefore for him.

When we have a map well in hand, I will stop arty barrages entirely, except for the occational emergency situation. The less I kill with arty, the more my team can kill, the more points my team can make, and therefore the more points I can make.

I apologize for TK'ing anyone in the past or in the future. But sometimes, you ground pounders are just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

                    /rant
Having 3-4 guys within close proximity of a flag that THE ENEMY IS CAPPING is my latest pet peeve. Either engage the enemy and keeep him from taking the flag, or get the hell out of Dodge so I can send some arty his way. Don't lay in cover and watch them cap the flag!
                    /end rant

then there should be some horrible loud noise that lets them notice, that they run in my artillery - and I dont want any red circle on the left - I mean really loud

Accidents happen, and usually it is the grunt's fault that he runs in to artillery. I ran in to Allied artillery today. Playing on Karkand, chasing a guy with a knife.

Boom! Ran in to my own team's artillery. I felt very stupid. :)

The ideal use of artillery would be that a target is identified; and then an artillery strike is launched at the current target, followed by the troops storming in to clean up the remaining resistence...

But what we have now is, troops storming in while their friendly artillery is raining down on them, and they are immune to the damage. While the defending team is left to run. Completely eliminating any aspect of defending flags....

It has really turned the tactic game of war into a joke.

What we need is, friendly fire on artillery, so those caught in the fire are penalized with a death, but no punish to commander; thus eliminating a way of punting a commander by smacktard actions..

The red circle is there for a reason. A lot of idiots end up running to the artillery area and get ****ed because the commander put artillery there.

The simple solution to all of this is to force Arty. to be, "called in" by SL.

That way, it's never deployed when it's not needed, and the element of teamwork is boosted.

The squad leader would know best if this squad can handle an onslaught of enemies, or if Artillery would be the best course of action. He would at least have a better grasp than the Commander in the majority of instances.

We'll lose the realizm if either bring back TK ON for arty or even it is a server option. The current setting (NO TK for arty) reflects the TEAM play - commander must do his job - to command; soldiers must to do their job - to listen the commander orders and look on the map :-)
