Okay so I could just type in Norton AntiVirus 2005 and it will get the job done? Because I could always go to task manager.

As the guy above said you need to shut down the.exe's that Nortons runs. When you open task manager you'll see the user name column. Pretty much if it says LOCAL, or SYSTEM, you want to leave it. If you are unsure what a process is, go here http://www.liutilities.com/products/...brary/svchost/ on this page there is a field called "Process Library Search" enter the whatever.exe and it will tell you what it is, and whether or not you should shut it down. If I remember correctly, NOrtons is a bastard when it comes to having 349265435 process running....I'd use AVG free, but that's just me.

Actually, you can practically end anything you want as long as you see the computer working. If you end explorer.exe you will see the bottom toolbar type thing dissapear and the computer becomes unusuable...

Some processes, for example some antivirus processes and system processes are unable to be "ended"... Nothing happens when ProEnd tries either.

Use "[img]link"[/img] tags to post an image btw, someone had asked :)

Actually I would not recommend ending svchost prcesses, lsass.exe, and maybe your video card, mouse, NIC, or other devices need a driver to run properly...
Ending the wrong processes will not damage your machine, but you might have to reboot if apps are not running right afterwards. You'll have to find out on your own which processes you really need to run your PC, and which ones you can disable.
If you end a process in task manager you can also start it again; for example by entering explorer.exe in File/New Task (Run...) or use the run... command line.

I usually have 24 processes running in WTM. Not much I need to end to play bf :)

I would not recommend stopping Explorer.exe, I think some AntiVirus programs will stop checking as they use Explorer extensions to detect whats happening.

actually you can, just start a new process called explorer.exe and it will start it back up.

You can stop 10 task and I bet it would still lag..
