2gb of RAM, Oh My!

So I finally forked over some cash towards purchasing a second set of DDR400 running in dual-channel....Oh my God, the difference it has made.

I get little lag spikes, but I've been able to slowly increment my graphic settings to everything but the dynamic stuff on HIGH @ 1024x768, and I'm very impressed.

Just thought I'd share. This seems to be the easiest and cheapest upgrade for garanteed results.

It does help. I am normally like 20th in the server, I've seen 3rd and 4th on a couple servers.

Actually, I've boosted the settings to high, and I haven't tried online yet, only 16player single player. I will be trying multiplayer tonight.

I'v got two gigs,settings are

dynamic lighting/shadow/light-high
texures-medium (ya can't see them all that well when far anyway so whats it matter)
anti-alising or however you spell it-0 (no use for it)
texture filter-low (wtf does this do?)
geometry medium-low looks terrible,high..I can't see the diff

I'v even done 64 player maps with it,depending on the area,I was in an area with 15 or 20 MEC soldoers and omg the spike I got,but otherwise it does very well,this is also an ATI Radeon 9600 pro (6 or 8) so I'm guessing you have a better card,if so then you should be set. my suggestion would honestly be to go with the lighting over the textures,you can really see a major different in the way things look...just don't try em together unless you have a really really modern card,lest you wants lotsa laggin

An extra gig has improved my loading times, it got rid of the starting lag, and I could set my graphics higher.

RAM is becoming a important factor in games. Glad to see you're liking the smoothness (and less loading time)

1.5gb is still good, consider I only have 3 slots =(

I have 2gig of RAM and im always the first on a server, pretty cool if you wanna get a plane or a chopper first

I've been @ 2 for somem time now and to be honest I was thinking about 3, just to help those prolonged sessions that can otherwise just suck the life out of your computer

and the most important NVidia GeForce 7800 GTX Overclocked
Huge casing with 3 fans

oh and on that pc I have only BF2 installed...Do you know where to buy a life?? :-)
