In general I look at weapon ratios to determine good players. Of course there are exceptions, but if you see a guy with all expert infantry combat badges and crappy weapons ratios you know he is a vehicle w****.

Myself I'm just working in getting all the veteran infantry badges without using vehicles while maintaining a ratio above 1. 3 down 4 to go.

My ratio isn't too good. 0.81. But I seldom use anything besides a transport vehicle.

Re: Kill/Death Ration, Good or Bad Player?

I think Kill to death ratios are a good place to start when considering if a player is "good" or not. I dont think its the final word but it the majority of the time will point you in the right direction. how many times do you see the top 3 medal winners on a map have a negative kill to death ratio?? If they did chances are they were ammo whoring or medic whoring. Witch does have its place but it is a rather easy way to score, remeber when eveyone was a medic the day the game came out.......

The reason is this, if you gave me one team with guys that killed more than they died and put them up against another team that died more than they killed and played best out of ten matches I would bet just about anything that the team with the better kill to death ratio would win more often. Its a simple math problem really....and if you think back to 1942 it was the only thing that told you who was a "good" player.

since it starts tracking your kills/deaths since you get the game it doesn't mean anything no1 is gonna be really good when they first buy it.

Re: Kill/Death Ration, Good or Bad Player?

There's something to K/D, sure, but it doesn't tell you the whole story or even very much of it. Kills are good and deaths are bad so there is something to it.

But still, a guy with a .2 might be a medic whore, or a great commander/SL, or a bunny-hopping noob tuber who can't hit diddly.

Personally I have a 1.3 and I think that's ok. It would be higher but it took me quite a while to stop sucking quite so badly. And it's definitely true that a great SL will get a lower score than if he charged in and actually did some killing. The great SL will help the team but get a lower score. His cannon-fodder squadmates will probably get good scores though. :)

Re: Kill/Death Ration, Good or Bad Player?

I'm 1.22 or something with 1,600 something kills and 1,300 something deaths, it's 312 more kills than my deaths is all I know and I usually am infantry I never fly a jet or heli, I occasionally get in a tank or APC.

Nice stats Leki Down. You are the first player besides myself which I have seen who has a k/d ratio and doesn't play solely on Karkand. I hate that I have that as my most played map because I don't even like it and try to avoid it as much as possible, due to the lack of teamwork as well as sportsmenship with the noob tube spamming on it. If you ever want to play together some day, just tell me because I think we could be a pretty good team and dominate.
I just gotta get my pc fixed first.

Yeah, k/d ratio shows your skill. altough if you started out badley it'l take a long time to go up. overall k/d ratio though is not as representive as kit equippement k/d ratio at least for an infantry player.

Hehe, looking at people's stats it might seem they dont play anything else but karkand, but maybe they spend alot of time on unranked servers like myself.

thanks, yeah i dont know how some people can play like 500 hours on karkand and like 5 hours on the other maps....although i do like karkand i dont like to play the same map more than 2 rounds or i get bored with it. sure could play some games together :) although with you being from USA and me UK could have a large ish ping difference.

if you have 90 percent of the time on foot and over a 1:1 k/d ratio i would count that as a good soldier

Re: Kill/Death Ration, Good or Bad Player?

O, didn't notice you were from UK, lol. But I seriously hate that the majority of BF2 servers have mostly Karkand now and thats why I am sticking to the expansion mostly even if it has stability issues. I was playing the original again since I am snping now, but I seriously coudn't play Karkand for the ammount of times these guys do either. Playing it in the original is almost unavoidable for me now because of the servers.

I think if you have 70%+ of your time on Karkand, you probably aren't playing on unranked servers and are probably just a stat whore unless you really, really, really like Karkand. When I get my pc fixed, i'll be glad to have any of you in my squad or play with when I get back to BF. Haven't seen much teamwork on SF lately, but probably just the servers.
