I get terrible lag to when piloting a heli on some maps. I even tested it then, created an unranked server and still got bad lag on surge 64 player. I had bad lag online on 64 player ghost town but no lag offline??

If I jump in the co-pilot seat its fine but as soon as I get into the pilot's seat fps drops to 15fps, never goes higher than 30

Well, its official (not that its any surprise), enough people are having the same problem so this seems to be something that definately needs to be addressed by EA in a patch. I have been in e-mail contact with EA tech support, triyng to fix this problem but they seem to not want to ackkowledge that its a common problem. All I get from them is "your drivers are out of date" "you need to play on low ping servers" or "update punkbuster". WE ALL NEED TO LET EA KNOW THAT WE WANT THIS FIXED.

I set my PCI Latency for my 6800Gt from 248 to 64.

Made no difference with this bug I'm afraid.

Jesus christ - 248! Is that like a dell computer or something? All the motherboards I have bought so far had it set to 32. Mine is running 32. Maybe it shoudln't be. Maybe it's too agressive.

I think that what actually fixed it for me finally was dxdiag sound hardware acceleration to basic. Did you try that? My sound effects are set to Hardware and Low.

Same here made no difference at all. I have tried every tweak there is and nothing makes any difference as soon as you get into the pilot seat bammm the fps take a dive, jump into the co-pilot seat and everything is fine.

Does anyone actually not lag when they fly a heli?

I tried the DXDiag sound acceleration tweak and that didnt change anything for me, though it would have made sense if it did fix it =(. Anyway, I feel that because there is such a broad spectrum of users who are getting the stutter, its definately a coding/programming issue in the game. Although I dont think we should stop trying, I feel this the only way to solve the issue is either get lucky and find a new computer that works or make DICE/EA fix it with a patch.

Yeah, a lot of high end video cards are settings themselves up for 248 as default. Crazy, eh?

After spending the dough on a new X-Fi card, the LAST thing I wanna do is disable all of the great audio features I just paid for

I think I'll let DICE fix this one...

I thought this may be interesting. Although not as many people participated as I had hoped, it's still is a good indicator of whats going on and maybe DICE/EA will see it. Unfortunately I dont know how to make a "poll" on the official EA forum.

                            Talus,

It's not your X-Fi. I was using my Soundstorm on board audio prior to purchasing my X-Fi Platinum and I was experiencing the same lag you have described.

Strangely, it doesnt happen in single player, or when I create my own local server, but every net game I have played has this bug, especially when I fly the helis on the map Surge. It stutters like crazy, and frankly, it's unbearable...I was looking forward to flying the hind too.

I have an X850 XT AGP just in case you were wondering.

The latency tool only produced mild performance improvement.

                                Otherwise, try:
