While overall I enjoy many of the changes coming to the game in 1.2 (especially dealing with Air strength - I fly a chopper and find it rather boring because its simply too easy, this patch will make it more exciting), there is one change I do not like.
No shooting and jumping. While this is intended to stop bunny hopping, it also stops people from jumping near a ledge to get a clear shot at a tank with an AT missle without getting their head blown off. Now they have to jump onto the ledge, fire the missle, then turn around and run back off the ledge. Sure, it only takes a split second longer, but that split second equals death when facing a good tank driver (or heck, even a tank driver with a brain). Or if they are behind a wall that they cannot jump onto but can normally jump and shoot over, they'll have to walk out into the opening to fire at a tank, which leaves the tank driver fewer places to have to watch for incoming missles. Once again, they're dead. Poor AT guys...
I play the engineer class, and I occassionally get in tanks. Its already easy enough to mow down infantry in a tank, now its just going to be like shooting fish in a barrel. You better bet my K : D in a tank will be going up after this patch. Before you needed at least SOME infantry support to kill those AT guys taking pot shots at you, but now I can just cruise around without any real worry.
Second, what about noob toobers? This won't really stop them, and I think they are the worst bunny hoppers of all. *Jump around the corner* *Land* *Fire off a grenade* *bunny hop while reloading* *Land* *Fire off a grenade* *bunny hop*...ah well.
Not to mention that if they are going to make it impossible to throw a grenade and jump, I'd like it if they increased the grenades throw distance. I mean, c'mon, these guys can jump 5 feet in the air while carrying 5 AT missles, if they're that superhuman then they can throw a grenade further than 15 yards...
But in the end, the overall positive gain from this patch far outweighs these slight negatives. Plus, we'll just learn how to play the game differently in the end.
*Grabs an F2000 and jumps in a tank* :p
*Drops a supply crate next to self*
Flame on!
