as for the repairing stuff - commander is a engineers job. so i have a wrench on my own, and in most cases a handy truck to do a driveby repairs. engineers are simply non existing in most cases. in is sad to see N/A in best' engineers score. and it hapens often. on some maps it happens almost everytime.

Those of you that are chopper pilots/gunners, consider selecting the engineer's kit. Sure you can't repair your own chopper without getting out but, given that you have to return to your main base to rearm/repair, you also also can quickly repair the commander's assets by doing a quick hover over them.

I often go SL for the green text and supply request capabilities. It makes it easy to spot kills with peripheral vision while still keeping an eye on the action (especially useful for indirect kills that you can't confirm with a corpse, ala grenades).

The crate request is a big sore point with me, as I've NEVER had an SL who would request them for me.

Be aware that if your SL requests the supply crate the CO will drop it on his location unless told otherwise. If you're close to your SL, fine. If you're somewhere else, you're SOL. Not many CO's do this (or know to do it) but whenever ANY team member says he's running out of ammo, their "blue dot" flashes yellow on the CO command screen, just as it does on player's mini-map. If I've got supplies available, especially if this person is a sniper and has been spotting for the team, I'll drop a crate a crate on his position by zooming in 3x, right clicking and select "supply drop".

thats true but i think its paramount that a squad leader STAYS ALIVE and spends his time on the outskirts of a skirmish so his squad members can spawn at him and continue that battle.

I think this tactic above all others is what gets the flags capped.

This is important if the skirmish is at an enemy CP distant from your nearest base. On urban maps like Sharqi or Karkand where CP are close together, it's not that big a deal for the SL to fight and die. On vehicle maps like Kubra Dam, Wake Island, Dragon Valley, etc. it is very important to keep the SL alive to keep constant pressure on.

Supply crates should always be avoided to repair assets at all costs.
We all know the engineer class is down grading. I say let repairing assets 2 points. Nough said.

I agree with this...if for no other reason than it gives the SpecOps guys more C4 to continue to blow your assets after they're repaired. However, if I don't have any engineers to do the job and I can't get to them myself, a supply crate is the only option. I agree too with upping the repair points for commander assets from +1 to +2. Keep vehicles at +1.

Imho the whole squad based concept has failed miserably. Usually when I get killed I search the map for a squad in a good position. Most of the time however there are no squads, squad leaders in completely useless locations or they simply drop like flies. Leaving you to spawn on a fixed spawn point to get raped by arty/heli/plane/tank etc..

I wouldn't mind so much if people would atleast grasp the basic concept of the game which is <WINNING THE ROUND>. Yesterday I played a round as MEC on Mashtuur. I drove the vodnik down to the powerplant, placed it in a good spot to waste the Blackhawk when it arrived. Ofcourse some :censored: took it and drove off. A few seconds later the blackhawk arrived, blew me away, took the flag (and our tank). 2 minutes later the round was over.

Compared to BF1942 it seemes like BF2 has gone downhill fast. In 42 people would atleast go for a flag (often collectively) squads or no squads. In BF2 when I am a squad leader noone spawns on me even when I'm capping a flag, NOT EVEN ENEMY MAIN!

I can not count how many times I have sat in the enemy main refilling off enemy commander supply crates only to blow them right back up. While you can only get two assets initially, that first supply drop garantees everything is going bye bye.

I can only play on servers like that if I'm out trying to get some type of individual award...like my knife or pistol badge...something where lone wolfing it is tolerable. Otherwise, I'm playing in squads with good SL's, on VOIP where we're all talking strategies, what kits are needed when someone respawns, etc. If you play in squads like this you rarely need a supply crate because your Support guy is taking care of you. That's what makes the game enjoyable to me. I do realize that other people don't agree and that's fine. I don't complain about it because I play 95% of the time on a server whose rules preclude most of the behavior people here (and I agree) don't like. If you're CO and jump in a plane, you're kicked. If you teamkill for a vehicle, you're kicked. If you don't treat other players with respect (abusive language, racial comments, etc.) you're kicked.

That could be the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I go squad commander because I have other computers on LAN network but i've seen loads of squads with just 1 person in there... Other people join my squad at times, I dont mind except that we have to leave and rejoin the squad depending on who dies and sometime some idiot that just joined ends up as squad leader by accident.

This is a pet peeve of mine. Sometimes I can warn the guy off by shooting a few rounds at his feet. Sometimes though they still don't have a clue or care and drive off anyway. Some have suggested putting C4 on any vehicle you plan to use for ground defense so if a team mate drives off with it you can blow him up. While that sounds very tempting, I don't want to get into intentional teamkilling so I look for another vehicle. I don't agree the squad concept has failed. You just have to find the right server whose regular players do value team/squad play and keep going back.

Actually dropping a supply crate on him is a good tactic. You'll probably miss, but he'll run up to it to rearm and heal which will hold him in one spot long enough for the artillary to get there if it was close to being rearmed.

Most of the time I am commander, but then i take my job seriously. Arty, supplies for soldiers and so on, and of course lots of infantry battle. I think it rather stupid being a commander while you are lying in the hangar of your main base... Most of the time i am on the front lines, but when you are a commander, getting into a plane is lame. Let others do that job :)
