Re: Maybe this will end all the threads about SF performance

eh, some people think that forums are basically tech support bots. Our purpose is to fufill the needs of others, and if we don't respond fast enough or give the answer they want, or peform voodoo hexes that fix their computers, they get all ****y.

I think it's that same old problem with people on the outside of something having a hard time figuring out how whats on the inside ticks. I still find myself saying to my roomate "but... but you're a computer guy!" whenever I ask him a question I figure would be cake for him. I'm only half joking when I say it unfortunately... It just pops out of my mouth like a idiotic Jack-in-the-box.

Still... I'm flying north for the holidays and see my parents about 3 or 4 times a year and guess what? They've got tons of plans for me to fix their home theater system, get their computer out of SlugLand, install their new DSL, etc etc.

I dunno. Even though I have problems with BF2 and SF myself, I don't get frustrated anymore. I just try to figure it out and learn. If that's too much for someone, it's probably better for them to go buy an XboX 360. My roomate thinks it looks as good as a pc game, but I downloaded some hi res videos from Microsoft and COD2 looks worse than the demo that I played at 3/4 high settings.

Oh wait. Even the XboX has problems. Nevermind =P

What i meant was - the amount of time and energy spent trying to FIX my problems goes beyond just the price of the game.

      For you mathmaticians:

      Time (A) = Money (B)
Trying to fix Special Forces (C) = LOADS OF TIME (A)
Therefore: Lots of C = Lots of B

I call BS on that. How does your personal time equal money of any sort? Are you basically saying that your life is so important that whenever something doesn't work you deserve to be reimbursed? I mean, it's okay to get angry with EA about p1ss poor patches etc, but then you go that extra inch and say "and not only should they give me back my thirty dollars but they should shine my shoes, buy me biscuits and gravy, groom my cat, clean my computer with a qtip and lick my toes!"

Who exactly do you think you are?

Somebody who obviously has a lot less free time on their hands than you do...

and that extra free time is enjoyed by playing games on my computer...not spending HOURS UPON HOURS trying to fix them.

maybe if you worked really really hard and had only a couple hours a week to blow off steam by playing BF2, you would understand

          ...but obvously you don't.

I just hope that the new pach will really help (and not bring toooo much more new bugy and problems ;-) and come soon. I wasn´t playing BF2 very much lately because it´s not much fun anymore. Even vanilla BF2....
I see that too. my performance is amazing in 1.03 but they somehow messed it up when I installed SF. But I still play Vanilla BF2 thouh still.

Ummm, I have the 6800 GT 256MB PCI-e and I can play any map smooth. "For the rest of my PC spec look at my sig." I am VERY happy with my card. When ever the price drops going to grab another one and run them in SLi. I never have had any major problems in SF. Yes I had once in a blue moon it crashed to my desktop couple of times. Nothing to slam my fist in my monitor about. Has not done it again in a long time. In BF2 NEVER had any problems. I am sorry for the other fellow BF2 players out there who can not experiance the game without any problems. Good luck to all to get your rigs going.

Re: Maybe this will end all the threads about SF performance

ya i have had problems with lag. I turned down light settings to medium and texture to medium x2 AA on 1280 1024 and it works fine except for the occational lag witch i experienced before the patch and new exp. It still looks pretty darn good but not what it was like before with settings on high. I have tried everything on every forum and have talked to tons of pc geeks about the problem and they all agree it is probably bad codeing and programing becuase of the rushed release of the game. So i agree with your statment and there will probably be a fix in the future, maybe not as quik as we want it, becuase the the size and graphics of the game.

                  P.S.
                  SF rocks

Mine isn't a super rig, and yes I had to turn my settings down pretty far, but I don't have any lag problems. I don't know why but since I got SF, I've had less CTD, which is a bonus. I always play 64 player games 2... no problems...
