Note a single person on vanilla BF2 got a promotion since the patch to confirm this?
I guess all the best players are playing SF!
Another poster in another thread is saying he didn't get the SF unlock with his promotion so it must be an error from EA's part.Comment

The answer is NO if you don't own SF or get a friend to do it on his SF installed machine you can not unlock the new SF weapons in BF2, how do I know well some of my clan installed 1.12 and they had already unlocked the BF2 unlocks and they have gained ranks since installing 1.12, thu the SF unlocks appeared in there BFHQ they could not unlock them until they had SF installed.Comment

NO...I got promoted last week after the 1.12 patch and my only choices were the G3 and the Engineer auto shotgun so I have confirmed it for you, the SF weapons were not offered as an unlock for me. I think EA is implying that users can unlock weapons if they use the account switch thing but you need the expansion to unlock the new weapons. Their shadow appears on the weapon selection screen and you are able to pick them up but you can't unlock them. It's for marketing, by giving bf2 users a taste of the new weapons people will want to go out and spend money on the expansion.Comment

I don't think EA technical support and EA publishers are on the same page...I think the original plan was to let bf2 users unlock SF weapons, but maybe they changed it for better marketing or just haven't gotten to it yet because they're trying to fix the bugs. Besides, DICE made the game so isn't DICE in charge of the unlocks?Comment

Let me sum this up for everyone, the only way you can get the unlocks is for some with SF to look on to your account and then after they have played for a bit they will unlock.
This is clearly just EA and there shít coders being to lazy to fix the problem so just pretending it was suppost to be like that.Comment
